easystroke is not running in nautilus window ,so please suggest something so that nautilus can handle easystrokes or suggest any other File manager which will support easystrokes, compatible to nautilus.
So im trying to setup easystroke but im having problems recording the gestures.I apply the command and when i click to "Record Stroke" im prompted with "The next stroke will be associated with 'command'..." etc. but i cant seem to record any gestures after that message.did i forget to do something?Do i have to change any settings?Btw i installed it through Package Manager

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to perform a gesture with easystroke, black blocks take up a large area of the screen, making it so that I cant see anything underneath them until I stop performing the gesture. It didn't used to be like this, before the gesture would perform mostly flawlessly. I don't know what I did to cause it to start malfunctioning, but I would really like it to stop.

I have a HP laptop which can support 1600x900. But after I install ubuntu 9.10 on it, it can only support up to 1280x700. My laptop has a Nvidia graphics card. And i am using GNOME as my desktop environment.

What could be the problem? Is it serious issue? I have been having security issues with Windows and are those issues begun once again? I have been under targeted attack since 2005.
Is it possible to change my current nautilus window to have sudo capabilities,? e.g. to delete locked files. It may be lazy but if it takes a lot of navigation then it would be handy to somehow activate sudo from the open window without the terminal command (gksudo nautilus) which always begins at root.

But whatever image I try (some PNG or even SVG files) I can't get them to be displayed. It seems there is a very special format, size, type to match the Gnome/GTK+/Nautilus icon requirements...
Does anyone know how I can move the location bar in nautilus up by the toolbar, as shown by this pic:

I'd rather not have to download the source of nautilus and edit the code / compile it myself.
By the way, a guy on Ubuntu Forums thought this was a mockup. It's not. It's the regular version of Nautilus, only I removed some toolbar buttons through the /usr/share/nautilus/ui xml files.
I just want the location bar next to the toolbar to conserve screen space, and be a bit more like Finder.

We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

I'm looking to dual-boot Windows 7 and Debian 6 upon its release on my sister's laptop. I want to share a partition between the two of them so that /home points to this directory and the Windows equivalent also points to it (C:Users).
Anyway, I've heard good and bad things about the NTFSMount driver (I think it's NTFS-3G now) and the NTFSprogs project and so I am not so certain what I should believe. I do know that NTFS has relatively high overhead, though I do not recall the source of this assertion, so I am considering the use of EXFAT. An open source EXFAT project is hosted on Google Code at [url] and it utilizes the kernel module FUSE.
I'm quite certain that I've got everything covered on the Windows side -- that is, I know that both NTFS and EXFAT will be suitable filesystems for my required usage.
My issue is that I'm curious which will have superior performance and stability in Debian. I planned on building the package from source and mounting the device in my FSTAB but I have also found a PPA for Ubuntu on Launchpad at [url] that I could borrow the debian/rules from and make a .deb package from.
What do you guys think? Should I go at it with the EXFAT or NTFS partitioning? Is NTFS-3G actually fairly supported at this point? Or perhaps should I consider some alternate method?
I have also considered that the only files she will be sharing are those of music, videos, and pictures so it could be better to just link /home/xxxx/Pictures (Music and Videos, too) to the new partition instead of all of /home.
I would like to know if it is possibile to have support for wi-fi midi support in linux.

I keep nautilus because it's a dropbox dependancy... ok, I know there are workarounds so one could use dropbox without nautilus but I didn't bother trying that out... I don't mind keeping nautilus but I just want it to be quiet :D
I have kde 4.5.1 installed on up to date arch
Lucid 10.04 distro. On an ext usb hd I have 250วด info in 6 directories. All directories are visible in terminal mode mod 755. All directories are visible in nautilus, all files are visible except in one directories which contains 200gig of videos.A file search shows all in all directories. All files can be opened mv, cp etc. I can move a file from this directory to another and all is well.In my Debian 5.05 distro with the same hd and directories etc, this problem does not occur.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow can I quit Nautilus? Supposedly it's Xubuntu ( with XFCE ); there are no panels, but right-clicking provides an Applications-Help-Reset-Exit-etc menu. After some googling Nautilus taking over the desktop seems to be a common problem, and typing something like killall nautilus or nautilus -q in Terminal is recommended. How can I open Terminal with no right-click menu and no panels, and Alt+F2, which, as far as I've understood, opens the Terminal, doesn't work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using gnome and I'm trying to add custom actions to the right-click on desktop menu. I've read that this can be done using nautilus-actions, but all the references I've found explain it for older versions of nautilus-actions.
If I create an action (a firefox launcher, for example) and don't add any special conditions for it to show up, it shows when I right-click anything in nautilus, but not on the desktop.
I know it's possible since nautilus-open-terminal shows up on the desktop menu.
I am in gnome2. Nautilus always cover Conky.

It does not appear in nautilus but when I look for it from command line it appears to be there. I simply do 'ls' for this and that means its not hidden.Googled it for an hour to find a suitable answer but most of the posts focus on removing the in front of file name which is not the case here.

Now I need to access the same windows share with another username having different access previliges on the share.
