Ubuntu :: Nautilus Not Work Correctly After Install Nautilus Elementary From PPA?
Jun 20, 2010
I attempted to install Nautilus Elementary...the results were not what I expected however. First of all, it doesn't seem to even have installed correctly, but thats not the main issue...after installing, Nautilus looks like this...
I try to use equinox revolution light them with nautilus elementary but I notice the context menu is not correct (right click menu). There should be a drop down shadow on the context menu but mine seem not having that. If I use with default nautilus, it was ok. Please see the screen shot attached. The context menu has no drop shadow and very difficult to notice it's window pop up from the background. I also attached another screenshot to show the drop shadow i am talking about.
I have tried to install nautilus-elementary on unbutu 11.04 by doing:
[code]...
I still not get nautilus-elementary. I still get nautilus. I get this after I do a 'About' in Nautilus 2.32.2.1. I should get something like 'Nautilus-Elementary or something' right?
adding the ppa in terminal works as does it in synaptics package manager. when i do update in terminal it seems to update A LOT of things and it takes quite long. when looking in synaptics package manager for nautilus-elementary it finds nothing! all i could think about is that it could have to do with the fact that i upgraded the kernel to 2.6.34. but can it really be the reason?
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and decided to install nautilus-elementary using the following:sudo add-apt-repository ppa:am-monkeyd/nautilus-elementary-ppaudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgradenautilus -qHowever once I ran 'nautilus -q' the terminal stayed hanging so I pressed Ctrl+C. Nautilus would not start up so I removed the repositories and reinstalled Nautilus.Has anyone else had this problem?
I was following the instructions here: http://www.techdrivein.com/2010/08/g...lementary.html on how to install nautilus elementary and gloobus preview and they dosn't work here is what the terminal says after I'm trying to install nautilus elementary and gloobus preview http://img517.imageshack.us/content_...reenshotxl.png
Since update to 10.10 I seriously cannot figure out how to do a normal file/folder search. When I search a file it only shows the last day, month, etc of Zeitgeist.
Not only that but I cannot narrow a search down to a specific folder. I go to Pictures folder, hit Ctrl+F, search term = ground, it no longer just searches the Pictures folder, and I'm looking at 0 results when there is a file named ground.jpg in my Pictures folder..
how to do a simple search in Nautilus? (Elementary)
I am running Ubuntu 10.10. I have Ubuntu Tweak installed. Can I use this to do a full uninstall Ubuntu Elementary, so that I can get back to the regular Nautilus that comes with the Ubuntu 10.10 Live CD installation.
Here i copy the the terminal messages when i log as a root user code...
When i clic on the trash, the app crashes and closes. When I try to move some protected files to the trash -wich i can't delete without login in terminal as root user-, the app crashes again.
How can i fix this? I installed -I'm new in Ubuntu, but i love it- the Nautilus Elementary 2.32.2 as i saw in those classics "10 things to do after installing Ubuntu Natty...".
There's an Ubuntu variant of Nautilus called Elementary Nautilus which aims for a tighter and sleeker Nautilus as opposed to the stock GNOME one.The modified one is really good, sleek and has RGBA (transparency support) through Metacity compositing enabled.I've created a set of RPMs and they should be building on OBS anytime now. Wanted to get the community's opinion on this modified nautilus build. Screenshots follow...
I have Nautilus Elementary (nautilus 1:2.31.1-0ubuntu1~ppa91) [URL]... The problem I'm having today is that the breadcrums path bar has completely gone. The pathbar tweak is activated and was working ok, but nothing is displayed.
The built in terminal & gloobus preview work fine but pressing F4 for clutterview just shows a grey area at the top of the screen. After some searching I did this:
from the command line.I know there is a tool called ne-terminal-config. But I want to tweak configurations of the embedded terminal that ne-terminal-config doesn't allow. I'm assuming there is a config file somewhere that I can manually edit.
I have been using Maverick since the release candidate was released. I also installed nautilus elementary (the latest version). The inbuilt terminal works great, but the clutterflow option in the view menu only brings up a blank black screen with the file name only [URL]. The terminal gives this:
i installed it on ubuntu 10.10 and it didn't work as expected so i removed it using software center and now i'm unable to log in to my system,it hangs on boot screen.
Every time I run sudo apt-get update in the terminal, I get an error that the PPA for Nautilus Elementary is not found. Is this just because of heavy traffic today or is it down? I can't find anything online saying it's down, but I just did a fresh install of 10.10 after 11.04 jacked my system, and I would really like to get Nautilus Elementary installed. What's the story?
I have upgraded to nautilus-elementary...What i wanted was the sidebar to show all the places like this in this picture..
but what i got is
the side bar shows details of the folder of file.
how i can restore the side bar as the first picture. in nautilus there was an option above the sidebar to change this..what to do in nautilus elementary.
i successfully installed the nautilus elementary on ubuntu 11.04 and the clutter flow as well and it was working as charm, but when i installed the ATI official driver, it starts to crash ( i mean clutter flow ), i uploaded a screen-shot of what it turns to.
I installed google-earth (newest) and when it failed to work I tried adding the /usr/google-earth dir to the library path via /etc/ld.so.conf.d/google-earth.conf ( i made this file and added the /usr/google-earth dir to it) this didn't work and I found the correct work around to remove the included libs in the /usr/google-earth dir forgetting to remove the first workaround i did.
now it gets weird... a little while after I ran gthumb and it crashed... run it in a terminal and I see it complaining about the same files as google earth was before ... uh oh i thought and removed my fix and rebooted... well X wouldn't start after that and I thought maybe I have to rebuild /etc/ld.so.cache so I ran ldconfig and reboot and now everythign works great EXCEPT when I open the "Computer" or Trash Icon from the desktop or menu the background is white (normally black) until i click view->compact or view->icon and it goes back to black... this repeats everytime I open the window and all newly open windowsI created a new user to test to see it it was profile related and the new user has the same behaviour.Fedora 12 (upgraded since fc7)Edit: I see this in ~/.xsession-errors
Code: (nautilus:445): Eel-WARNING **: "nautilus-directory.c: directories" hash table s till has 3 elements at quit time
Is it possible to change my current nautilus window to have sudo capabilities,? e.g. to delete locked files. It may be lazy but if it takes a lot of navigation then it would be handy to somehow activate sudo from the open window without the terminal command (gksudo nautilus) which always begins at root.
I was transferring data from one computer to my laptop and crash error came up on my laptop...
Error 1:
Nautilus-2.32.0-1.fc14 Reason: Process/usr/bin/nautilus was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Error 2:
Openoffice.Org-Brand Crash
Reason: Process/usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin was killed by signal (SIGABRT)
What could be the problem? Is it serious issue? I have been having security issues with Windows and are those issues begun once again? I have been under targeted attack since 2005.
I've added a new Nautilus action and I'd like to use another icon that those provided in the nautilus item con list (see attachment).
But whatever image I try (some PNG or even SVG files) I can't get them to be displayed. It seems there is a very special format, size, type to match the Gnome/GTK+/Nautilus icon requirements...
Does anyone know how I can move the location bar in nautilus up by the toolbar, as shown by this pic: http://i39.tinypic.com/2qdsyll.jpg
I'd rather not have to download the source of nautilus and edit the code / compile it myself.
By the way, a guy on Ubuntu Forums thought this was a mockup. It's not. It's the regular version of Nautilus, only I removed some toolbar buttons through the /usr/share/nautilus/ui xml files.
I just want the location bar next to the toolbar to conserve screen space, and be a bit more like Finder.
