Whenever I try to perform a gesture with easystroke, black blocks take up a large area of the screen, making it so that I cant see anything underneath them until I stop performing the gesture. It didn't used to be like this, before the gesture would perform mostly flawlessly. I don't know what I did to cause it to start malfunctioning, but I would really like it to stop.
So im trying to setup easystroke but im having problems recording the gestures.I apply the command and when i click to "Record Stroke" im prompted with "The next stroke will be associated with 'command'..." etc. but i cant seem to record any gestures after that message.did i forget to do something?Do i have to change any settings?Btw i installed it through Package Manager
I could not decide on a forum section, so I choose this one. About a year ago, I set up a wiimote white board for windows xp and ubuntu, and i played around with it. I install a program where you could custimize "gestures" or "flicks" that would do certain things, like if I drew a large F on the screen, firefox would open, or a s would save the file.
Now that I have a tablet pc, I can not remember for the life of me the name of this program. I reformatted my old computer a while ago and I google searched with no results. I remember is was open sourced and really awesome.
I am using StrokeIt program in XP, it is very useful program.so i search similar program for ubuntu 10.04 LTS & i install itn now I try to record some stroke but i can't.
i have ubuntu 10.04 Nautilus 2.30.1 easystroke 0.5.3
easystroke is not running in nautilus window ,so please suggest something so that nautilus can handle easystrokes or suggest any other File manager which will support easystrokes, compatible to nautilus.
I have added a couple of clips (1080p50 XVid) to a project, and each of them play fine in the Clip Monitor. I want to add these clips to the timeline and add the Dissolve transition between them.
I have achieved the above and when I click on the Play button on the Project Monitor, I can see the project playing including the transition. All fine so far.
After this first play of my new project, I have tried to move the playback position bar and once I do so, the project monitor goes black. From this point on, I cannot see my project playing whether I start playback from the beginning or from an arbitrary mid-point. I may see a flicker of an image, and the transition effect may appear but that is it until I quit Kdenlive and start again.
I'm stumped as to what could cause this. I did wonder if it was because I was using onboard graphics, but I have upgraded that element of the computer today with no change in the result.
I know the machine doesn't have the highest specification in the world, and perhaps more RAM is needed for this job. I don't believe this to be the causing factor in this problem though considering playback is initially achieved.
Following a search of the internet, I've attempted two possible ways of resolving this: disabling Compiz, starting Kdenlive from the terminal using 'env XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 kdenlive' and running the Config Wizard. Neither has given the resolution.
i recently installed ubuntu on a single-core amd 64 with an ati radeon 9100. my desktop is malfunctioning: specifically, when i close a program the program still shows in the task bar below.
i can only see two workspaces in the workspace view.when i use evolution mail i cannot get the cursor to show in the textboxes, nor does it type. i am using the radeon drivers that ubuntu selected for me upon installation. aside from installing chrome and the plug-ins firefox said it needed to view videos, i have not done anything to my installation.
I'm new to Debian, and there's something I don't understand about the packages marked as automatically installed. They are supposed to be removed by "apt-get autoremove" if no other packages depend on them, right? Well, I've installed xserver-xorg-video-ati which pulled *video-radeon, *video-r128 and *video-mach64. I later realised that I only needed *video-radeon, and got rid of xserver-xorg-video-ati and the other two. The thing is... xserver-xorg-video-radeon is still there, even if only xserver-xorg-video-ati and xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg depend on it, and neither are installed in my system.
To cut to the chase, I have an ACER Aspire 8735G-6502, a fairly new model. I'm having issues configuring the multi-gesture to the touchpad to do any of the gestures. In fact when more than one finger is placed on the pad, the pointer flies around the screen in a random pattern. Does anyone have advice on either the configuration of the gestures, or a way of disabling any gestures and just having it be a single digit (classic) touchpad.
type the command ssh node2@ip the terminal hangs up a bit then an error message stating that connection timeout but here is a thing: i cant ping to node2 but i can terminate the ping manually using ctrl+c when i terminate the ping usual message appears stating 10 packets transmitted, 100% loss ps: when i go to node3 and ssh to node2 it works fine and also i can ping from node3 to node2 very fine. and the firewalls are down at all nodes
I'm trying to install easystroke to my debian lenny tablet pc, but compiling errores:
Am I missing some X components? I have installed needed depedencies; g++ libboost-serialization-dev libgtkmm-2.4-dev libxtst-dev libdbus-glib-1-dev intltool
Other mouse gesture program gestikk download site is down.. so there is only easystroke - or is there other mouse gesture programs available?
I don't know whether this should be filed under hardware or laptop, but my wireless mouse is acting sluggish. At first I thought that it was because I chose LXDE as my gui and maybe its pointer was just inherently bad or something, and began to regret my decision. However, upon trying the laptop's built-in touchpad, I found it to be smooth as butter. So, the problem is with the mouse. The mouse worked fine on Windows, so the problem is with the interface between OS and mouse.
Would the problem be fixed by installing a different Desktop Environment? Or is it something else? Is there a better driver I can download or something? One last thing of note: the mouse settings utility is severely malfunctioning. I change the sensitivity and hit OK, but when I check it again, the mouse sensitivity is reset.
i study computational systems engineering.. and in my school (itlp) we've got fedora 12 installed in some of the computers.. and we use it to learn network administration and security. the reason of this message.. is that i want to install fedora 12 in my notebook (dv4-1525la vu068la).. but an error keeps poping up.. the error is the next one..

and though i have looked in bugzilla.. there is no help for me there.. they say.. "press tab in the welcome bootscreen when you are about to select whether to install or restore an existing system and write intel_iommu=off and press enter" but that does not really helps.. it just does the same.. in some blogs they say "upgrade your bios".. but i say.. then why i can not install the olders distributions with my "old" bios.
I was wondering - is there any multi touch gesture support in openSuse 11.4? I have enabled multi touch scrolling under the 'Mouse' module in Yast, and it works fine. However, i was wondering if a multi touch gesture set is available - such as pinch zoom, or even custom gestures mapped to keyboard combos - e.g. using a spiral to launch terminal?

Just fitted my netbook (Acer Aspire One) with 10.04 and now trying to connect to DSL Internet with Ethernet cable through Siemens 4200 modem. The "Ethernet" light on the modem does not come on as it does when i'm in Windows on the netbook nor as it does when I connect my desktop (with an earlier version of 10.04 with no wireless capability).
I installed Ubuntu on a machine of our laboratory. Since we are at the university connections may pass through a proxy (whose url we ignore). All things concerning system update are nearly unusable. Several posts say to add in apt strings like $ export http_proxy="http:" $ export ftp_proxy="http:" but I don't know the url proxy at all.Firefox is set to "Direct internet connection" and all work well. In Windows all connection properties were set to "automatic" and updates were ok.Is there a way to have an automatic recognition by apt?
In this case I have a video capture device but when plugged in (usb) the os doesn't recognise it. Is there software (device manager) where you can a least identyfy it?
My unit does not have internal DVD capability so I installed an external Sony that XP recognizes but ubuntu does not. I am 910 is that makes a difference.
I just upgraded on system from RedHat 4.0 to 4.8 and I'm having issues recognizing flash drives on the system. After a little bit of googling and attempting what some people recommend I am still having issues. I've tried the lsusb command but it doesn't seem to be recognized. I've searched the media and dev directories but found nothing showing any system recognition of USB devices. The ports do work as I've hopped the mouse and keyboard around to all of them and they work just fine.
I saw that in Google's Summer of Code that they were working on Facial Recognition for Digikam. Has it made it into the mainline yet? If so, where is it located in the program? If not, when will it be available? I'm ready to dump Picasa right now for it.
Allow me to preface this post with fact I am 80 and the PC challenges seem to be greater and comprehension a major focus. I just finished a 12 hour recovery on due to this new Toshiba Satellite not recognizing the partition I created with gparted.
The out of the box configuration is unallocated 100 Mib, sda1 NTFS System Boot, sda 2 NTFS WOG with 286'59 GiB, sda3 NTFS Recovery. IIts scary for me to attempt it again but I will try given some clear directions. An option would be my 149 GB external formatted with EXT 3 file system
One of my friends seems to have been won over to the idea of me installing Linux onto his pc but he relies heavily on Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition which unfortunately isn't available for Linux.
