Aug 26, 2010

The problem is whenever i am visiting facebook.com or some regional websites (url) my X server crashes and its taking me to the login screen. while visiting, its displaying some unwanted images across the screen. please look at the attachment

Basically, whenever I am on an unencrypted wireless hotspot, I open up an SSH tunnel to my home server to do all my browsing for the privacy and security it provides. But I got to thinking, and now I am curious, if I am visiting a site like gmail for instance that always uses SSL/TLS for it's connections, is there any added benefit to also using an encrypted tunnel? or is it perhaps superfluous to use both
Every time when I visit facebook site my system crashes, everything that I have opened just closes and my machine returns to a login screen. This only happens when visiting facebook, and I can't relate this to administrative restrictions because I can visit facebook from other computers within the same network. I am using Scientific Linux 5.4. Where might be the problem?
I have installed OpenSuse 11.3 and I works quite well in my dell latitude xt2, even touch screen right out of the box.
I like Liferea for news feeds but when I try to read any feed from Slashdot it crashes after some seconds. It also happens with another source, etwinning.es.
I am facing a problem in browsing website with F15 installation, both firefox and chrome browsers give me a headache. The main website that cannot be accessed is facebook.com, I only can browse it in certain of time after clearing cache, cookies and histories, this only happen for facebook web only.
i am trying to read some newspapers online through firefox and opera in my rhel 5 machine. My language is tamil. By default it will not support that. But i have downloaded the fonts. i put that *.ttf fonts in /usr/share/X11/fonts directory. But its not working? I tried by putting in /etc/fonts directory too. But still problem persists
backtack is a good tool for me considering my profession.but everytime i type startx, my backtrack4 wont start. it says fatal error, no screen found. i tried to configure but it says i might be using and older version of x server.im using dell xps with windows 7 home premium.is there a way i can upgrade my x server so i can run backtrack or there might be other problem with another solution.
When using SeaMonkey to view the following website, the whole computer "crashes". It crashes in the sense that it no longer accepts input(via keyboard and mouse), and the screensaver does not activate when the laptop screen is closed. The screen does not go black and the Caps Lock key does not flash as in a kernel panic. This is the only time in my entire lifetime of Linux that an application actually crashes the system and has effects similar to that of a kernel panic.
This is the website:No Ordinary Detention Full Episode - No Ordinary Family - ABCThe video plays for some time, but after a while the computer just stops responding to input and the video(unfortunately) stops playing.Unfortunately, I can not say much looking from the kernel log(/bin/dmesg), because each time I restart my computer, it is erased. Also, I checked the System Log(/var/log/messages), and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.I watched a previous episode of the show on the same website using Opera, and all fared well. However, what could be the problem with watching it using SeaMonkey?openSUSE 11.3 64-bitSeaMonkey 2.0.11Adobe Flash 10(10,0,45,2)KDE 4.5.5X.Org X Server 1.8.0
I have a strange problem with my browser(s), even Epiphany....when I go to my music site [URL] then log in, go to my page and click on link to play a song the browser Crashes. It never did this before and I dont know what I could have done to cause this. It only does this on this website. Could it be that they use a Quicktime plugin to play the music? I don't know cause I used to be able to play music on there before. It doesnt do this on my Reverbnation site page, just Icompositions. If I click on the icon to restart browser a box comes up saying "we're sorry"...your browser crashed for no apparent reason.....and offers a choice to either reload the page (that repeatedly crashes) or start new session. It isn't a big deal but this never used to happen before. Could it be some bad code on that website?
I'm Dual-booting XP with Ubuntu Karmic Koala, heres my other specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium D 3.0Ghz family(15) model(4) stepping(4) GFX: Geforce 7800 GT (had problems with GFX when I first installed Ubuntu, I had to update my drivers) 2 GB RAM
This is a nearly fresh install of Karmic Koala, I've only installed whatever updates I needed, graphics card drivers, KPlayer, and Google Chrome. Because I prefer Chrome over Firefox I immediately went to download Chrome, and Firefox would get to the Chrome page and then crash. I then got the Chrome install file from another computer and installed it. Chrome will not even launch, so I go to search the problem in Firefox and it crashes on ANY link I click in Google Search. I also tried to directly type websites into the URL box: it loads the pages title (Ex. "Yahoo! Mail"), and crashes before displaying the page at all.
This is a very odd problem to me as I used the same disc to install dual-boot with Win7 and Ubuntu on my laptop which works perfectly, and now this happens to my desktop.
For some reason Fox News Video, does not work in FC12, but CNN BBC video are all fine and plays. Flash is installed.e.g. URL... results in just a black screen with a fox logo and no video.
On my wife's computer, she is having a problem that I can't duplicate on my own or figure out on hers. When she is logged into facebook, which she uses a fair amount to stay in contact with friends and family, after a certain amount of activity, clicking on links, etc. her screen develops an intermittent black band on the left hand side of the page which makes the page unreadable. This only happens in facebook and only with firefox; no problems so far in Opera or on other web sites. This happened in a previous installation and I thought a clean install would fix it, but I transferred her home directory and that brought the problem with it.
I was wondering if there is a way to find out IP blocks based on a given region. I know there are IP Lookups that will tell you what Country and possibly City a given IP is from. What I want is the following:
- I would like to set up a IPTABLES rule that implements something like:
=> ALLOW VPN connections FROM THIS ISP/IP BLOCKS THAT ARE IN CITY XYZ
Basically, I want to limit my incoming VPN connections FROM my ISP in the surrounding area. So, for example, I can go to my friends house who also has the same ISP. I should be able to connect from his home to mine because we have 1) same ISP 2) IP blocks is confined to a particular local location.
I'm trying to print a spreadsheet from Openoffice 3.0.1 (Xubuntu 9.04), I'd like to use the A3 pagesize but the Print dialog shows only A4 and Letter.. Other applications work fine.
I have a Dell 1505E with Debian 3.16.7 which is unable to connect to channels 12 and 13 even after changing wifi regional settings to different countries (using iw reg set).12 and 13 are legal to use in the UK. What should I do?
when i'm in ubuntu 9.10, i can go to any website except for netflix.com. every time i go to netflix.com, it logs me off and i'm back at the ubuntu sign in screen. I am using Namoroka 3.6.4. can it be a browser issue?
Just recently installed the latest Ubuntu on my laptop and working perfectly. I have installed and configured LAMP but unable to figure out how to hide php and html file extensions when visiting a URL. I have enabled mod_rewrite via sudo a2enmod rewrite. Can this be accomplished globally rather than using a htaccess file?
I have got an interesting issue here. After having ubuntu running for awhile I will visit a certain website that maybe running a script or flash or something and then all of a sudden the screen goes blank for a second and then everything comes back except the mouse pointer is no longer visible. I can logout and then back in and the pointer is back. I wasn't going to ask about it but it is getting annoying having to log out and than back in. I am running a ati card with the iopen source ati driver. It is a VisionTek 9250 pci card with 128 mb of ram. I wonder if it is a combo of this, Adobe Flash and Compiz.
ok not done this b4, so i google away, and get this! [URL]... from here [URL]... all it seems to do is give me a black screen. i would like some simple code for now, just to play the video. I can make a still for the link. I do't care if it's js, html, anything that works.
I have recently installed ubuntu 11.04 on my pc after that I tried to login on facebook but could not.I can open other internet pages easily but problem is with facebook only.I get an error message ERR 118 The operation has timed out.
[URL].. is a TV player client, allowing connection to several international news streams(video/audio) from around the world. it is available for Linux, Mac as well as pervasive game systems. ran ok in 10.3 but seg faults in 11.3..after manually tinkering with its audio setup in ~/.openalrc it runs good here until the seg fault...sometime it runs five minutes, sometimes 25 minutes or more...i have been unable to detect the triggering event..started by executing 'livestation' in an open terminal always results(eventually) in "Segmentation fault" and nothing else as the client disappears..anyone else seen this?or, running with no problems?
I was reading the latest openSUSE news #140 under the kernel information and I found something I felt anyone interested in the future of Graphics Support in the kernel should read. It was very interesting for me to read and so maybe the same for you.

I want to have an inn server running on my own server, both to relay my prefered newsgroups and to manage my own newsgroups.
I installed inn with YaST, but I'm lost in the inn documentation. I'm pretty sure openSUSE defaults solve most problems but can't find where I have to setup my own config
It seems strange to me that there are so few newsreader programs for Linux that are good for posting binaries, if they do it at all. For a community with such an ethos of sharing, there sure are a lot of "grab"-only newsreaders!
I have used newspost a lot in the past, but I encounter fatal errors when connecting through stunnel, as I now tend to do, and development seems to be dead with that program. Can anyone recommend any other program - console, X, whatever - that will post multipart binary files?
