View 3 RepliesI have 2 services registered one for HAProxy and one for stunnel. When I type service start haproxy or service start stunnel they start and everything works fine. I ran ntsysv and they are set as autostart, and I have init.d scripts that work. I have checked the runlevel and using chkconfig runlevel 3, 4 and 5 are :on. And I also added service haproxy start and service stunnel start to inittab. But when I restart the computer haproxy and stunnel fail to autostart. I am a fedora novice and I have no idea why this isn't working...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had an Ubuntu 10.10 installation that ran fine for around a month or so. I decided to go out and try to install aptosid (formerly known as sidux) as a dual boot. I couldn't get the desktop to boot in the LiveCD and kept getting an error saying that the nouveau module could not be loaded. I rebooted and at the main LiveCD screen, I added xmodule=vesa xres=1440X900. I was able to get a 1024x768 resolution. I decided that I really didn't like aptosid, so I shut it down and took out the LiveCD. When I booted back into Ubuntu, my resolution changed down to 640x480 for some reason. I decided to remove the proprietary nVidia driver I had installed via jockey. Once it was removed, I restarted. Now, I see no startup splash or a login screen - my monitor just goes to sleep.
I have all my files backed up already, so I decided to pop in my Kubuntu 10.10 LiveCD to install that. Once I choose the "Start Kubuntu" option, my monitor goes to sleep. I tried putting in Linux Mint Debian Edition LiveCD to see if that would work, and I had the same issue. After this, I went for the nuclear option and installed Windows 7 to see if it would wipe out any memory of my Linux drivers from the system. The Windows drivers for my card worked fine, so I decided to put the Kubuntu LiveCD back in and got the same problem. I am currently running a Partition Magic LiveCD, but could only boot into it using the Xvesa option instead of Xorg. My video card is an nVidia 9800 GT - and it has always worked in the past.

I am running fedora 10 and webmin squid proxy server, after power failure the squid fails to start. i have tried to start it from command line but failed

I have recently installed CentOS onto an old machine to get it up and running as a basic web/mail server. Originally the Network Interface worked ok, however I have been editing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to try and set the IP address to be static.Now when I run the 'service network restart' command it won't bring the eth0 interface up and comes up with the following errors;
ifcfg-eth0 Line 3 DEVICE: command not found
missing config file ifcfg-ifcfg-eth0
It doesn't seem to like any of the command words, even though most of these were in the original file that worked and the ones I added to do static I have commented out.
I just upgrade from 10.3 to 11.4. Everything went fairly smoothly and most things are still working execp nfsserver

Just installed 11.3 on an aging IBM Thinkpad X40. But the network (and xdm) does not work. I saw in the logs the cryptic message nl80211 driver does not support authentication/association or connect commands. This machine worked on 10.3, so this is a confusion. What should I try next?

How can i allow this portal in squid. So squid will allow this to access.
My previously running debian system recently started failing with systemd failure messages as some services are being started. It never completes. I can log into recovery mode.
I added systemd.log_target=kmsg systemd.log_level=debug into my grub parameters.
After I do that all that I see scrolling down the page on boot are:
systemd-journald[36] /dev/kmsg buffer overrun, some messages lost
and the occasional
systemd[1] Looping too fast Throttling execution a little
Is there a way that I can boot without systemd using sysvinit?

I have just installed squid and sarg, both are working well. I cannot get squid to start when the machine boots. I installed webmin and configured the setup through the webmin interface where I checked the "start at boot option". I think the problem is that my network card responsible for the web connection is wireless so when squid tries to load during boot it is trying before the Wireless card is up and so it fails. I have tried multiple methods of adding a script to the "dispatcher.d" folder in "NetworkManager" to load squid after wlan0 is up but all have failed to bring up the squid proxy without my interaction. I have not found any two sites that describe the syntax for "dispatcher.d" alike so I may have the command wrong but I have no what to do.

However why is my Ipv6 failing?

I am more familiar with using sources.list in debian style distros but I am unsure how to proceed with /etc/yum/repos.d. I am currently attempting to either install them from the CLI or to download the binaries, but I do not think that will fix the problem in my repository lists.
The HD containing my main F14 install is suddenly failing with many unreadable blocks. So I booted a different F14 installation I have on another disk.
Then I run dump, for example, as following:

as, for what I can recall, I've often done to create full backups.
The problem is that running restore with this command:

(as, for whatI can...) and using the add and extract commands, only the directory are created. But files are listed using ls. If I add just a file, only dirname is extracted.
So apparently the GNU c++ compiler did not install when I did:
# yum install gcc
And now it's failing to install the C++ compiler when I do:
# yum install gcc-c++
It's saying it's running out of mirrors to check or something? Does anyone know what else I can do to install it?
