Can anybody direct to me to where I can find information on where to find the drivers, and how to get set up under CentOS?
I'm trying to follow the instructions here to get my dell wireless NIC working in CentOS. I've got to step 3 but when I run the make command.But it does exist, as a link pointing to ../../../usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-194.el5-i686.

Sprint has a guide: "Wireless Mobile Broadband Setup Guide for Linux OS" that I am using to setup the air card. When I go through the procedure in the manual for "Setting Up PPP Using KPPP" the last task is to query the modem to see if Linux recognizes it. When I do the query I get a response "unable to open modem". I have tried going back through the PPP setup but still get the same response.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the Linksys WMP45G wireless card for my desktop (as my router is too far for ethernet cable). I can't get it to work. The NetworkManager icon doesn't appear in the upper-right corner, despite being up-and-running. Here is some output:

I'm booting DSL off of a USB key on a used laptop I just got. wireless, starting with what the wireless card is, then which driver is needed, and then I think I can use ndiswrapper to install the driver and go from there. I was told to do 'lspci -knn' (not all because I'm retyping the output on my computer that has internet working)

The left side (on the tv) is cut off, like the image is justified too far left. I want it to be centered, but I also want to use a different resolution. You see, I use a netbook, and thus my laptop screen is tiny, meaning some things cant fit in the same window without scrolling. I want my TV to fix that for me.

and it did all the installation correctly.

1. Do I also need to run setup-ds-admin.pl and setup-ds-dsgw too?
I tried running setup-ds-admin.pl and it stucked at :

I have a device that is only accessible using wireless. By default it starts an ad-hoc wireless I can connect to. The problem is there is no internet access on the ad-hoc. So I'm connecting it to my router using the commands (its a gnu/linux):
iwconfig ath0 mode managed essid "ESSID"
ifconfig ath0 192.168.1.25 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
route add default gw 192.168.1.1
I want to add it to start up script but I don't want to get locked out of the device forever if something happens to the router (its really old). Is there any way to check if the connection failed and create an ad-hoc instead if it failed?
I previously installed centos using DHCP. Now I purchased a domain name and want to set it up as a webserver. if I choose the static ip address based on the existing DNS server given to me by the domain company, it will ask for the subnet mask, default gateway and i do not have them.

AS you can see, everything seem fine when I start wlan0, but I can't connect to the internet through firefox.
I just started setting up a linux box in the office...I have some experience with ssh commands but not setting up a linux system and stuff.The box is connected to our network but I have no clue how to make windows & osx talk with it. How can I go by doing that and also setting up an apache server to be able to connect through network. Right now I have apache/linux/mysql running it works when i go to localhost, but I would also like to let all the computers in office to access it. I would guess that will deal with virtual host which I know how to setup. I just need to setup an IP.

I am having some trouble setting up my wireless connection. I have a desktop version of ubuntu, and am trying to connect wirelessly to my modem, but it dosent even seem to be recognizing my wireless usb card. How do I get it to do that? Also, when I go to set up new wireless connection, it asks me for my ssid, mac address, mode, bssid, MTC, Wep index, authentication, ipv4 setting, and ipv6 settings. What the heck am I supposed to put in for those things?

I was trying to set up my computer as a wireless AP/router. I am using a D-Link wireless dongle for the wireless network. I have ensured it can be put in the master mode. I followed the instructions on [url] and steps seemed to have been completed without a problem.
However, the wireless signal is not being broadcasted. I cannot see it on my phone or my laptop. The only difference I see is that my Ubuntu installation is the desktop version instead of the server edition. However, I don't think that should be the issue!

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am trying to set up the wireless with the latest version of Ubuntu. I can connect to the internet with the ethernet but wireless connections do not even show up. My wireless card is a Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN and perhaps that is the problem. I am not sure if that will work. I am also using VMware and perhaps it just doesn't work with VMware.
When I type in iwlist scan it just comes up with: lo interface does not support scanning and eth0 interface does not support scanning. When I search for available drivers it says no proprietary drivers are in use on this system. Then it has VMware virtual ethernet driver and VMware virtual machine communication interface.
I'm setting up anonymous FTP on my VPS (just for testing purposes) and I need to copy the shared libraries needed by ls to ~ftp/bin. I'm not sure where these libraries are located.
I'm running Cent 5 i386
