both blades are running RedHat 4 (nahant update 4). Blade A returns Linux 2.6.9-42.ELsmp to the uname command and apache starts up without issues. Blade B returns Linux 2.6.9-89.ELlargesmp to the uname command and fails with the following error: Cannot load /opt/httpd/03/modules/mod_access.so into server: /opt/httpd/03/modules/mod_access.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I have confirmed that the modules are present (actually a symlink to a valid directory) and have the correct permissions. Why can't I get Blade B to start?
I installed LAMPP a couple of weeks ago and was working fine. Today when I try to start lampp, it will only start MySql and ProFTPD. It says "XAMPP: Another web server daemon is already running." How can I find out where this other server is located and stop it?
I am unable to start apache on my linux machine with following errors Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 117 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Invalid command 'Order', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration I am using CentOS5 with apache version httpd-2.2.13
I got my problem with KDE Desktop. I'm using openSUSE 11.2 and KDE 4.4, when I make updates to my YaST repositories. I am a full file system usage in. / then I delete the file / var / tmp, because large files up to 4 GB. KDE Desktop then I could not run ranymore.
I was googling and found KDE/KDE4 - openSUSE when I try to execute this command:
kbuildsycoca4 kquitapp plasma-desktop> / dev / null 2> & 1 kstart plasma-desktop &> / dev / null 2> & 1
KDE Desktop can run normally but does not like the first time before the crash. And my KDE Desktop not automatic start.
Where an i found log from KDE DEsktop. I had searched on /var/log/messages, /var/log/kdm.
And how the best solution if I want to restore OPensuse.?
I'm loging my slackware as a simple user After each reboot I need to start cupsd for my printer nfsd and mountd to export my shared directories I use init 4 for my desktop I would like these services to start always without the konsol and the command lines.
i finished installing oracle 11g r2 with EM but i cant find any good script that will close the database completely before rebooting they all start it correctly but for the shutdown they don't wait and the database restart in recovery mode
I need a download manager that automatic start download at 2 a.m and stop in 8 a.m . I test many app such as fatrat d4x .... but can not find app like idm in linux.
If I understand correctly Ubuntu does not allow a wifi connection until a user loges in. That makes it so that prey (see preyproject.com) cannot send notices until someone has logged onto Ubuntu.what I would like to do (but I have no clue how) is to set up a user account that automatically, in the background, logs on at start up. Then this little user login would establish any Internet connection that is possible (wifi or lan) and start the program 'prey'. This should all be totally transparent to the user that would just see the regular log in screen.
to avoid automatic start of this mail server (I use qmail). After several months, I did a reboot and exim is started! Looking at the history, I found this command:
Quote: dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config
Maybe this command has restored the init script of exim?
I can connect to localhost, and get the test page. However, as soon as I install the apache PHP module, with:[root] # yum install php apache will not restart.Watching active processes with qps, I see apache tries to start, but then it crashes - hence it writes to the error log to say it's started. But there's no PID in /var/run/httpd, and I cannot connect to localhost.

I was working on my Drupal test site (running Fedora 11) when it froze. I had to hold down the power button to get it to shut off. When I booted back up, I received the error message "Your system had a kernel failure" after logging in. When I tried to access my test site's ip address or 127.0.0.1, I get the error message "unable to connect". However, I can access and log into Webmin (version 1.440) at 127.0.0.1:10000. Then I noticed that my Apache Web Server (Apache version 2.2.15) was not started. When I try to start it, I get the error message:"Failed to start apache. I'm using Fedora 11, Drupal 6.2 and Apache version 2.2.15.
i have compiled/installed Apache from source code ...however i dont now how to start it at system start up as a daemon to run at level 3the server is usually started by the apachectl scriptwhich understand start stop restarti don't want to use suse distribution of Apachecan i just copy apachectl to /etc/init.d and make a link to it at /etc/init.d/rc3.d
I have just installed Fedora 11 on a "fresh machine" and everything works ok, except for Apache httpd the message seen in the error_log is the following: Name or service not known: mod_unique_id: unable to find IPv4 address of "myserver"
I've installed Fedora 12 Desktop in order to develop a simple website, which is going to use some PHP.
I will need:code editor to write html/css/php local apache server running php browser how to get me up and running in no time with least extra configurations.
Bonus: I'm going to run all this in a virtual box on my company computer. I'd love to be able to stay undercover with this, so if one of you can tell me how to configure the apache server not to be too visible to the company network/domain, that'd be excellent.
I'm running Fedora 15. I installed mod_ssl and tried restarting Apache. I get the following error:
Code: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs I rebooted the server, thinking there was some process in the background that was stopping Apache from listening on 443. Same problem.
I ran:
netstat -A inet -lnp and lsof -i tcp:443
I remove mod_ssl and Apache starts.
The other question I have is what to do with /var/www/html
In the default install, root:root owns it, but I want people to be able to ftp in to that folder and write to it without using the root account. I'm thinking of changing the group to apache and putting the ftp users in the apache group. What is the recommended behavior here?

Been a very long time since I have played with Linux. Now in a new position and have setup a Nagios server running on Centos 5,5 for a NMS.How do I set apache that when I visit: whatever.org it starts Nagios.. Currently I have to go to whatever.org/nagios.
I am very new (since yesterday) to Linux also new to web server setup. I have installed all LAMP components, including SSL as described here: [URL]. I have added LISTEN 443 Wanted to restart the apache server -> no success ! stopped it, now doesn't start at all:
Warning msg=> (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:44 no listening sockets available, shutting down . . Failed
I tested Apache and my PHP earlier and it worked. Now after SSL and FTP installation it doesn't work anymore! Also I am wondering about my server name, it is the set IP of the web server, surly i should change that? Only used link for SSL set-up, used diff links for apache php etc (also have java JRE installed as I will need that later for my app) also have GNOME available, but prefer command line.
I am new to slackware and linux at all. Today I have installed slackware 13.1 on my PC. Everything seems fine. Furthermore, I successfully installed mysql and edited the http.conf file throughout vim(this was also new to me). I discommented the line where it says "Include /etc/httpd/mod_php.conf" and moreover changed "DirectoryIndex index.html" to "DirectoryIndex index.php".
I assumed that the library "libltdl.so.7" is missing. When I tried to google it, I cannot find a proper version for slackware.I sincerely apologize if I have posted the thread in the wrong section.
