View 3 RepliesI downloaded some application for Linux (program microcontroller LPCXpresso). When I trying to install it some error appears
Code:
Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories:
/installkitvfs/lib/tcl /installkitvfs/lib/tcl8.6 /home/damon/src/installkit-1.3.0/out/lib/tcl8.6 /media/lib/tcl8.6 /lib/tcl8.6 /media/library /library /tcl8.6b1.2/library /tcl8.6b1.2/library
This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.I think Tcl is installed, maybe I need to reinstall it if so, how? What I need to do?
The machine boots, graphics come up, login window shows up, but after login there is only the background window (and mouse). My .xsession looks like this:

I installed Freeradius using Yum and then RPM, where the heck does the default program folder get installed and how do you even find it. I did a find . -name free and I come up with nothing. In Windows, I can go to a program respoistory, download a program to the default directory or choose one, launch the installation, and more often than not the program and most of it's components are installed in the 'Programs' directory. It is a pretty consistent, neat, and organized process. Can someone relate how Linux works in comparison? I am not knocking Linux, just trying to understand if there is a consistent method to how it downloads, installs, and stores applications.

I ran and installation and the program opened up automatically but I can't find the program executable.
If I could find a log then I could locate this file.

I have a lenovo x200 laptop running Fedora 14, fully up to date with the Fedora repository. Seemingly out of nowhere, some websites will no longer load. First it happened to www.facebook.com, next (after a day or so) wikipedia.org, now the Fedora forum. Other Internet access seems fine, but when I try to go to these pages I just get "unable to find host" errors. Its totally bizarre. It first happened in an airport so I thought it was just a strange network there, but now it happens at home. I can't get on these sites in firefox or elinks browsers (in a terminal) BUT I can ping both sites no problem. Also, the other computers in this house have no problem visiting these sites.

I have been running F13 since it came out, with the wireless working fine since I got it working (using the RPM Fusion repository, broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-1.fc13). Since I updated software (without reading what was to be updated), yesterday, I am unable to even find wireless networks, although I am, as you can see, able to access through eth0 It is not a hardware problem, as I can not only find them, but access them on Ubuntu 9.10 live disc. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to find other computers on my local network from my workstation.
Code:
nmap 192.168.0.*
shows me the workstation and the gateway(192.168.0.1)
My workstation has 2 interfaces: eth0 and eth1. both are checked in the "trusted interfaces" section of system-config-firewall. Network is currently connected to eth1. If I run the same nmap command from my laptop (also fedora), it outputs everything on the network but my workstation. The strange thing is that the workstation has functioning internet connection.
I normally connect to a free wireless project, and did have a Windows box until yesterday when I installed Fedora 10. When I was using Windows, I was able to connect to the unsecured wireless network. Now on Fedora 10, the wireless card is working and is able to pick up signals but the signal strengths are markedly decreased and I am unable to see the network which I usually connected to.I really don't want to go back to Windows.

Each time I connect to a Mumble server, this appears:Quote: Unable to find matching CELT codecs with other clients. You will not be able to talk to all users. Apparently that is the cause for not being able to hold a conversation on mumble. Nobody can hear me, though I can't specify if I can hear others at the moment. Some googling has led me to this:
Gentoo Bug #293300
media-sound/mumble-1.2.0_beta1 tries to load media-libs/celt-0.7.0 as
"libcelt.so.0.7.0", but the actually installed library is named
"libcelt.so.0.0.0". Thus CELT support in Mumble is supposedly missing, but can
be restored by symlinking libcelt.so.0.7.0 to libcelt.so.0.0.0.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a new user of Fedora 11. I am a Ubuntu user and could not get my GeForce 9100 on board graphics to work on my new computer with out crashing my computer so I decided I would try fedora. I downloaded the driver from NVidia and I am attempting to install it (Fedora didn't automatically find the driver). I get the following message:
"Error Unable to find the system utility 'ld'; Please make sure you have the 'binutils' installed. If you do have the bin utils installed, then please check that 'ld' is in your PATH."
I am running the driver from $Download as root. I don't know what ld or bin utils is or the check if I have it or if it is in my PATH.
I am attempting to upgrade Fedora 12 to 13. I get an error screen that said root could not be found. Four options are given. Not sure exactly their wording, but two appear to allow you to cancel the other two warn that if you reinitialize you will wipe out all data.
I have a Vista partition and a Fedora partition. I've added the vista ntfs partition to fstab with no help. All of the partition use the long UUID form. I added the root location (root (hd0,5) to the upgrade menu item in grub.conf and that didn't work either.
I'm reluctant to proceed for fear of initializing the entire drive. I could live with installing Fedora 13 over the existing partitions.

I cannot install Kubuntu (or Unbuntu) 10.4 on my husband's computer. I have spent 5 hours on this and cannot get anywhere. I am deeply frustrated. The iso I burned to CD is good (works on 2 other computers). His computer will not boot from USB, no matter what I do to the drive order in BIOS. After loading the blue screen with the Kubuntu logo on it (and the blue-white dots), the screen changes to black and shows the following text:
BusyBox v1.13.3 (Ubuntu 1:1.13.3-1ubuntu11) built-in shell (ash) (initrafs) Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.
He really needs to get rid of WinXP. Kubuntu is what I have on my computer (and love it!). Here is some info about his computer:
