Each time I connect to a Mumble server, this appears:Quote: Unable to find matching CELT codecs with other clients. You will not be able to talk to all users. Apparently that is the cause for not being able to hold a conversation on mumble. Nobody can hear me, though I can't specify if I can hear others at the moment. Some googling has led me to this:

"libcelt.so.0.7.0", but the actually installed library is named
"libcelt.so.0.0.0". Thus CELT support in Mumble is supposedly missing, but can

I have FC10! so far i have downloaded the mplayer and its codecs.further i extracted both the packages( in DOWNLOAD folder).but I'm not able to extract the codecs in the /usr/local/lib/codecs directory.it says you do not have permission. how should i know whether to compile the mplayer or is it pre-compiled?

I am trying to do a find/grep/wc command to find matching files, print the filename and then the word count of a specific pattern per file. Here is my best (non-working) attempt so far:

Ever since upgrading to Fedora 14, my system has been almost unusable. I can only have a few windows of anything open before I start getting messages about:

I am unable to open any new windows then and lots of programs crash.

When I try to play some OpenGL games, I get this error.How can I fix this? My graphics card is Nvidia, and I use the nvidia-current driver.Here's what it says under OpenGL/GLX Information. I don't know if this is the info you need, but oh well.

I am having issues with 3d I am trying to start up a game called auteria but it displays this error "Could not find a compatible opengl display resolution. Please check your driver configuration. (Error: Couldn't find a matching GLX visual)" I am on ubuntu 10.10 could anybody give me a solution on how to fix this issue?

i just upgraded to 10.10 thru update manager, had problems upgrading, had to disable Nvidia - nouveau to upgrade and everything went well for 5 days but then i disabled backports in software sources then i changed visual affect from normal to extra and turned computer off. NOW i cant use ubuntu it just freezes on the purple ubuntu screen prior to login.have tried using safe mode and repair broken packages, which did a 21mb update but still nothing but freeze. i get this message in safe mode

using nvidia_173 driver from repository with nvidia geforce fx5500 sping returns this:
Could not set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual would installing nvidia-glx-173 package be the solution? just realized i had the nvidia_173 driver activiated, but not in use. ran "sudo nvidia-xconfig" boots in tty1, so i navigated to the X11 directory and deleted xorg.conf, boots to gnome now
how do i keep it from going to tty1? i know there are threads on this here and there, but most leave you with the default driver, and i want to keep nvidia_173

I have two table files with x (1st column) ,y (2nd column) coordinates and intensity (3rd column). I need to match these two tables and divide the intensities at the consecutive coordinates on the 3rd column. The problem is the size of the tables are not same and I want to ignore the lines if they are not in one of the other file.

I've been an ubuntu user for several years and just installed kubuntu 11.4 this morning. Nice desktop and feel. Easily navigable. I like. But i can't download any packages!
When i try "check for new updates" in KPackageKit i get:

Over the years i've used [url] to update my system but i get no joy this time.
I'm using kubuntu 11.4 on a fujitsu-siemens amillo pi2530. I've enable the natty universe and multiverse repositries.

I currently have a network with an older machine, which is (usually) operated in headless mode as a data & backup server, with a fixed IP of 192.168.0.10. I have two client machines, a desktop & a laptop, which use DHCP. All three computers are running Slackware-12.2, the clients with a full install & the server without any X components. I want to set the server to serve a scanner & have been following this link, which is mostly a rewrite of the man page for sane.d. I set up saned per the article, adding the saned:saned user. 'scanimage -L' works for both root & my local user on the server. I can ssh into the server as my desktop user & 'scanimage -L' works. Ditto if I ssh into the server, then 'su -' to root. I can scan either locally from the server or via ssh from the desktop machine. BUT, I cannot get the scanner recognized on the network. On the server, I have this line in /etc/sane.d/saned.conf:

My server user is in the same groups, less vboxusers. The server is identified in /etc/hosts & I can connect to it via ssh & mount nfs shares from it. What am I (not) doing that is killing network scanning?

I'm just starting out with Ubuntu 10.10 on the desktop, (got VPS experience) and I'm running into an issue when installing Ubuntu 64bit. One that I'm unable to reproduce with the 32bit (x84/i368) disk. Just to note, the ISO's and disks have been checked with matching MBR.
I'm able to run the live CD on both versions perfectly. However when I press next after the 3th step of installation (The one in which you can choose whether you want to install updates and 3th party software or not), the Ubuntu 64 bit version stalls. Ubuntu doesn't freeze or anything, but it just doesn't seem able to go to the next step. (Partitioning)The odd thing about is that I can access the step perfectly on the 32bit disk. Now here is the question..... What could be the clarification for this issue and would it be possible to resolve it? (If so, how?)
P.S. Attached you can find a dxdiag output of the laptop. It's an Acer Aspire 7520G.

I don't really have a reason for this currently. I recognize all the MAC address on my DHCP client list and keep it rather well locked down. I was just wondering if there was something I could run on the terminal to get more information on a given MAC address on my network. Something kind of like whois for websites.

This problem has taken me the whole Sunday and the only thing I've got left before start kicking my computer equipment is to ask you guys for help.I have a problem on my client side of Kerberos. Basically, none of my clients is able to make a connection to kadmin using DNS SRV-records. Only if I use the relevant directives in the krb5.conf files - it works.
Something is weird regarding the adm server. I mean, without [realms] stanza, the client does query the DNS properly for the KDC master - it can be tracked in the DNS logs and I mean, even logically - with no [realms] stanza - there is no other place than DNS where it can find this information. So, the actual authentication of the principal works. It's the kadmin-part that exits with the error message above. According to all manuals, books, guides I've read - this shouldn't be happening. The [libdefaults] with default_realm defined in krb5.conf in combination with proper DNS records, should be everything kerberos client needs. But apparently not.I don't remember having any problems like this before. This is the first time in several months a freshly install a KDC. I believe Kerberos packages did get updated few times since then. Could this be a bug of some kind introduced in never version of libs? I have the latest packages on centos 5.3.

I have not got a chance to play with NIS enough except basic RHCE stuff. I have some CENTOS 5.5 boxes on which I have set up NIS+AutoFS All is working pretty well except NIS users can not change password at NIS clients. I am getting this error.

we can't get the clients in our lab to do a kickstart install. we're doing the install by booting from the Centos 5.3 net install cd and anaconda starts, but terminates abnormally reporting a SIGSEGV fault. Interestingly, attempts at doing an install from a CD and without the network connection results in this error:
X11TransSocketINETConnect() can't get address for localhost:6001. Temporary failure in name resolution.

I am using postfix as my MTA. It is running on ubuntu and I am administering the system through webmin, try as I might with different configurations, I can't send email from a client. when I look in the mail.log i only find:

I'm having really weird and frustrating DNS issues with my clients unable to properly resolve the server's ip address. They can resolve each other's, and outside systems, but not the server - at least, not correctly, and not all the time.
I have one Ubuntu server set up that does both DHCP and DNS serving to the Windows systems. The server has DNS forwarding turned on to forward to OpenDNS's servers (I've tried using my ISP's dns servers but the problem remains).
The server is *not* set up as a firewall; I am actually using a DLink router for that, and the Dlink is *not* set up to serve up DHCP nor DNS.
What I am getting is that my clients - and there are nothing but Windows clients - will not resolve the name of the server. For example, if I do: ping linuxserver
I get back a false IP address of 192.168.0.64 (and I've seen once a 192.168.2.49).
If, however, I put a dot in there: ping linuxserver.
I get back the *correct* IP address of 192.168.0.2, and thereafter, ping'ng linuxserver without the dot will work. Until the dns cache expires, either naturally or with ipconfig /flushdns on the windows clients.
The client *are* getting valid dhcp leases and can resolve everything happy-happy, they just will not get the proper address of the server 100% of the time.

just updated to new 2.6.33.124 kernel along with some other updates to python and boy what a mess!
I can't run at all with the new kernel (the kernel appears to load but stops before the xserver loads, I think)I really don't think this is a generally problematic bug though, i'm afraid that this setup is just fusty since I have been having trouble with metacity (causes the cpu to spin up --metaphorically of course--to ridiculous amounts until I kill the process, which it happily does without actually killing it but it does spin down again to 2-3% from 60% or so) and the python update seems to have killed the nVidia setup and 3D as well. so.... anybody have any suggestions on how to straighten this mess out without setting up again? This is actually the second time I set this up since the metacity bug made me thing it was fusty the first time, but a second setup didn't solve it.
I did turn the metacity bug in as a kernel bug (because it was in some way related to massive kernel ticks which was keeping the cpu going, but have had no response to that, unless this latest update did that.

My brother is a linux master and the computers I get handed down are obviously all use linux. I am trying to play a wmv file on my comp. I just downloaded mplayer but it seems not to work. I have movie player as well but it tells me the file is not supported. Read about w32codecs but they seem not to be available anymore. Maybe I need to convert the wmv to mpeg but yet I don't know how.
