I have installed Fedora 12 in my dell studio 15 with screen 15.6 The images are not displayed properly, some times they displayed some wider than their actual size. Is there any video and display driver available for Fedora 12 which can improve its display quality.

I have upgraded (clean install) from Ubuntu 9.10 to Ubuntu 10.10.because 9.10 is no longer supported.My problem is ie subject that is to say when i receive embedded pictures on an e-mail I cannot see them, even when I select to load images they do not load, something that it did not happened with Ubuntu 9.10

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have linux firefox installed on my notebook, and after having a bit of a problem with it, I did a full factory reset back to all the original settings. Now when I connect to the internet, some of the pages now are not displayed properly. For instance, when visiting E-bay, the listings look fine, but my E-bay page is all listed down the page, (if that makes sense) and I cannot look at any of the photos. MSN is also, how can I put this, spread out across the page. I have done a live update to see if that makes a difference, but no joy.

While playing videos i cant bring any other windows in front. The video always stays in front. Its not the entire window just the video clip alone. Moreover the rightclick menu is also not displayed properly while playing a video. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).
Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.
My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.

However, today I downloaded linpack from here: [URL] and Linpack correctly state my CPU speed as 3.1Ghz: Btw, I have the pata_acpi module installed if that helps. I could not edit (even as root) the file at /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed. Even cpuid/cpuinfo and the GNOME CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.30.0 reports the speed as 2Ghz.
There is a weird thing happening with my FC14 installation. When I log in, I have no icons displayed on the desktop, although I may (and I do) really have them there. One other thing: There is also no "right click" on the desktop.This is solved by opening a folder (which means launching nautilus?), but that's awful and I would like to solve it. ;-)Some information on the system:

I recently changed from Ubuntu 10.10 to Fedora 15, I haven't chosen to make them dual boot because I liked Gnome 3 that much. But I installed them on my second hard disk because then I can move my documents to this OS.But when I go to the Ubuntu files I get this message:The folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents.mage:So now I can't access my documents anymore... Does somebody know how I can move them to Fedora?

The problem with this is that each image is then stretched to fit on one page, whereas I would like to keep the original dimensions of the images and put as many as possible on one page in the PDF file before moving on to another page.
So I ran a software in both KDE and Gnome respectively and it seems both of them have separate displays. By that I mean, one is displaying a part of the string(a Label) and the other is not displaying the string at all. I will include some relevant information such as the software uses SWT kit. Also the string is displayed perfect in Windows. If it's still not clear I will sum it up in a sentence. I am trying to display a label using SWT kit and, its being displayed correctly on Windows,partially correct on KDE(Half of the string) and not displayed on Gnome.
I have tried GridDat.grabExcessHorizontalSpace=true, but it didn't. how to approach the problem otherwise?

Recently I installed FC 11 on my laptop. The OS is not displaying the battery status correctly in the notification area. if I remove the power cord after 100 % charging, the status remains the same even during discharging. It never informs me the correct discharge status or any warning when the battery power is critically low. This is causing unexpected shut downs and data loss to me. Is this a bug ? Do we have a solution for this. My laptop is Compaq CQ40-327TU; dual boot with Vista as alternate OS.

Got Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 installed.. I've been using Fedora 13 64bit for some time now dual boot with WinXP.. Ubuntu installation to a free Hard drive went well till i rebooted, my Fedora installation was gone , and i thought Ubuntu is much installer friendly than fedora.

Why??Hasn't everybody notices that CDs/DVDs are vanishing big time? That more and more systems don't have the readers anymore? Instead of following a 10 point instruction list, it would be nice to just be able to download a Ubuntu 8.10 or whatever USB image and be able to beam that DIRECTLY to a USB stick with a dd command.
Or am a missing something here? Does this exist?It should by no means be mariginal, considering how important USB stick in specific and flash memory in general have become.

I'm looking for a way to convert .wav/.cue file pairs to their respective tracks in flac format, with ID3 tags from the .cue file. Preferably I would like to be able to do this in such a way that the new tracks would be copied to the appropriate %Artist%/%Album%/%trackno% %title%.flac location. Back in the days when I would go out of the car and back in when it didn't work, I would mount the .cue/wav file pair with Alcohol52, and use Windows Media Player to do the rest of the ripping for me. I'd like to be able to do something similar in Fedora.
I've looked around, but most threads talk about cuebreakpoints and shnsplit. Surely, I could do the job with those, but then I'd need to rename the files manually, copy them to the correct location manually, and input the ID3 data manually. This is very time consuming, and I'm trying at all costs to avoid this. I've already called Google several times, but his phone is turned off. How could I do the conversion in an automated way, preferably without going to Mr. terminal's office?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with images showing up as black boxes in konqueror, firefox, galeon, etc. I originally thought the problem was Firefox related, so I updated and the problem is still there.
I can't find anything with search that matched this exactly, so if I overlooked.
It seems to me that any time an image is re-sized it shows up as a black box. If I look at a wallpaper that's large, say 1200 x 800 or something, and the browser tries to resize it, it comes up black. However, if I click the same image and it returns to it's actual size, it looks perfect, as it should.
I look at a website I have to individually view each image and this is beginning to drive me crazy!
