I have done some searching around and now know that the 64 bit version of Wine is useless. I tried to install the 32 bit version and apparently succeeded. The problem is that when I open Wine File the .wine-x86_64 folder reappears. I don't even know where the 32 bit folder is.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis seems to be a variant of a problem many people have had, but after several hours trawling through various forums, I haven't seen a reliable match for my situation.In brief:Adding a third boot partition (of Ubuntu) to my existing dual boot of OSX 10.6 and Windows 7 seems to have crippled the Windows boot from working, because Grub apparently takes over the process. Yet Grub does *not* appear to be on the Windows partition.
More verbose:I have an older MacBook Pro (3.1, running Snow Leopard) that I recently refitted with a new 240GB SSD HD. With the extra space (it was previously only 120GB) I decided to add a dual boot with Windows 7 using bootcamp. This all went swimmingly well.Encouraged, I decided to follow this Lifehacker article's suggestion and triple-boot the machine with Ubuntu (I'd never used Linux before):So I now have the nice rEFIt boot partition selection screen, and, indeed, I'm up and running in Ubuntu, and enjoying it.
Only one problem: I can't get into Windows any more. If I try to go in through rEFIt *or* by holding down OPT at startup and selecting the windows partition directly, the result is the same: I get thrown into Grub's selector, and selecting the Windows partition from there leads to an error message and a dead end.Having read through numerous postings, I get the impression that Grub is doing something or living somewhere that it ought not to be, but in most cases I've seen, people had accidentally installed Grub onto the Windows partition (or indeed onto EVERY partition). After the upgrade on this AMD Athlon Barton 2500+ system, root device not found.The Grub install had failed; the new grub.cfg file was non-existent. In the Grub folder there was only a env file.Succeeded in installing Grub2, but without the cfg file it didn't help any, of course.

I am beginning to start to work with compiling and I get some confusing output adding patches to sourcecode (xosview-1.8.3). (The patch is for suppressing warnings while running the make command : deprecated conversion from * char to ** char ) Xosview compiles without the patch. The patch itself contains 17 files to add mostly const char instead of char. It is one single file containing also files in one subdirectory.
While running `patch < PATCHFILE.patch I had to copy'n'paste the filenames of the subdirectory to the terminal to keep it going. To get it going without much manual input I split it up for the two directories. I got the original patch and both splitted patches succeeding but with confusing output like :

As you can see the patch is working but what would I have to add to the patch? I added more newlines , added all lines to close a "{" if the patched line was inside ( also added "}" ), adjusted the path at the diff -uraNd /PATH/ -line, even deleted the diff line.
I try to connect to my server (whose IP is x.x.x.x below) from my laptop. I have no idea why openvpn client won't work this time. It works fine in win7 before. I re-installed openvpn but it doesn't work neither. Then I searched for this issue, find that it is possibly caused by disabled DHCP Client service. I checked, and found it was enabled. Still won't work after restarting dhcp client service.

I did a "yum install thunderbird" to get the thunderbird emal program. I got a beta version: thunderbird 3 beta 4.Is Fedora so bleeding edge that this should have happened? I have not changed the repositories that the installation of FC11 uses.(I haven't used 3 beta 4 enough to have any complaints about how it works.)

I have tried Crossover Linux 8 standard and Newsbin Pro works with that. Crossover is using wine 1.1.18. However that will cost me $40.

I have a Sun Fire X4450 running RHEL 5.3. Attached to this server via FC is a Sun StorageTek ST2540 that allows additional storage capacity. In order to administer the ST2540, a software application from Sun (CAM 6.6) has been installed. Part of the install process for this application also installs Java JDK1.6.0_12 (64-bit).
However as we use this hardware as a database server, our database software will not install properly as it requires an earlier version of Java JDK1.5.0_11 to be installed. When I try and install the older JDK rpm package, RHEL will not let me. How can I get both versions of Java installed?

I've got the RPM for 0.23 but it has a bunch of dependencies so I need to track down the RPMS for those, too, so I was wondering if I can do this in yum? my laptop currently has 8GB of RAM and I wouldn't want that going to waste. I have read about the issues with flash on the 64 bit versions of buntu. Would you recommend going 64-bit or 32-bit with PAE? also, does the 10.10 kernel have PAE enabled by default?

I am now log-in as live user, but I can't find the shotcut for installation on desktop "install to hard drive" but using the terminal, there's a file under Desktop, 'liveinst.desktop" I tried running it, graphical installation will appear, but during copying to hard disk, it says bad media.
