I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?
So I want to install the original version of Fedora 15 and make it dual boot with my Windows 7. Problem here is that I don't have a cd/rom. and the iso file didn't have a .exe thingy.....

I did a "yum install thunderbird" to get the thunderbird emal program. I got a beta version: thunderbird 3 beta 4.Is Fedora so bleeding edge that this should have happened? I have not changed the repositories that the installation of FC11 uses.(I haven't used 3 beta 4 enough to have any complaints about how it works.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe newest version of wine 32-bit (1.1.32?) seems to be a disaster. I had Newsbin Pro working great in Fedora 10. Now this program won't run with wine.i686 on Fedora 12 x64.
I have tried Crossover Linux 8 standard and Newsbin Pro works with that. Crossover is using wine 1.1.18. However that will cost me $40.
How do I install an older version of wine with the dependencies in Fedora 12 x64?
I searched for an rpm and found various flavors of wine rpms. Can I just install that older rpm?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have done some searching around and now know that the 64 bit version of Wine is useless. I tried to install the 32 bit version and apparently succeeded. The problem is that when I open Wine File the .wine-x86_64 folder reappears. I don't even know where the 32 bit folder is.
I have tried
Code:
yum erase *wine*
but it does not seem to work. However this does.

I have a Sun Fire X4450 running RHEL 5.3. Attached to this server via FC is a Sun StorageTek ST2540 that allows additional storage capacity. In order to administer the ST2540, a software application from Sun (CAM 6.6) has been installed. Part of the install process for this application also installs Java JDK1.6.0_12 (64-bit).
However as we use this hardware as a database server, our database software will not install properly as it requires an earlier version of Java JDK1.5.0_11 to be installed. When I try and install the older JDK rpm package, RHEL will not let me. How can I get both versions of Java installed?

I've got the RPM for 0.23 but it has a bunch of dependencies so I need to track down the RPMS for those, too, so I was wondering if I can do this in yum? I've seen an old thread about installing a yum-allowdowngrade package but that doesn't seem to be available any more.

my laptop currently has 8GB of RAM and I wouldn't want that going to waste. I have read about the issues with flash on the 64 bit versions of buntu. Would you recommend going 64-bit or 32-bit with PAE? also, does the 10.10 kernel have PAE enabled by default?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe actual nvidia driver version (260.1912) does not work for my laptop (a Sony Vaio F11 series type, see bottom of page [URL]), I would like to install an older version (e.g. 256.53). Up to now, I cannot figure out how to tell yum to pick up an older version. Is there a way to do this (because kmod-nvidia is a meta package, there may be problems?), or do I have to install 256.53 manually (using the installer provided by nvidia)?

I have no experience with anything but standard Wine, and I haven't even used that in quite some time. Crossover and Cedega are both built off of the Wine codebase, and they both cost money. can POL do everything that wine can do? in other words, do i need to install them both or POL will do good alone?
In my F12 box, whenever I open ..... in firefox, it says either Java is disable OR install latest version of Adobe flash player. View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to install pgplot on my PC. My Pc is running an intel i7-860. I install Fedora13 (X86_64 version). there is no g77_gcc in fedora13, it has only gfortran_gcc. I have edited the 'g77_gcc.conf' by copying it to'local.conf' and change 'g77' into 'gfortran', and follow all the installation instructions of pgplot. For examle, I did: /usr/local/src/pgplot/makemake /usr/local/src/pgplot linux local.conf.
It seemly go through to the last step correctly, but the last step './pgdemo1' failed. It showes the same error message as other friends showed in 2008 in Fedora10: error while loading shared libraries: libpgplot.so: cannot open shared object file : No such file or directory
In fact it does exists, and if I do 'cp libpgplot.so /usr/local/lib', it showes that the file already exists. I overwrite it, no use at all.Still the same error message. In google I find an item to teach 'how to install pgplot in 'gfortran_gcc', I follow its instructions step by step, but at last, pgplot still does not work. I am an old man, not familiar with computer.
