Fedora :: How Can I Get Bug Reports To Be Accepted

Feb 13, 2011

I love to submit all bugs as I know the importance that this can play for further development. When I click on Bugzilla it allows me to write information etc and I even sign in with my forum id (I know it is not necessarily correct) but I didn't know what else to do and thought it would work. When I sign in it does not reject me until the very final step of the bu reporting process. My question to anyone is how can I get my bug reports to be accepted or how can I sign in to this area of Fedora if required?

Debian :: Tool For Squid Reports (not SARG) - Generate Less Amount Of Files - Optimal Is To Save Reports To The Database

May 9, 2011

I got the following task from my boss. I have to find out if there is some alternative tool for create reports from Squid except SARG. Now, we use SARG, but my boss told to me, that the main problem of SARG is, that SARG generate huge amount files, which cause problems during migration our servers. He told to me the following condition for change of current tool (SARG):

* standard package of Debian
* generate less amount of files, optimal is to save reports to the database

So I would like to ask you if you know about some tool (I can not find some by google)... and the best would be if you told to me some practical experiences.

Red Hat / Fedora :: Logwatch Reports Are Nearly Empty

Apr 10, 2010

I've installed Logwatch 7.3.6 via the rpm on my CentOS 5.4 server. The issue is I'm getting basically empty reports from logwatch. The only two sections which have any information are samba and diskspace.

The only default options in the config file I've modified are: Code: print = No output = html I'm suspecting the issue has to do with the fact that the as-logged host name doesn't match my current host name. However, I've tried manually changing this on a few entries so they match but they didn't show up in the report. According to the config file, the default for option HostLimit is "No" -- so Logwatch should not care what hostname it sees in a log file, right?

Fedora Servers :: SELinux Troubleshooter Reports Nothing

Sep 19, 2010

I recently had three problems with SELinux: httpd_unify - SELinux prevented my web server from having write access. ftp_home_dir - SELinux prevented my virtual users from connecting to their home directory. textrel_shlib_t - SELinux prevented two separate Unreal Tournament 2.5 mods from running. The troubleshooter did not notify me of any of these problems. I finally figured out how to fix them on my own and did. CentOS had a very concise, albeit excessive SELinux troubleshooter that involved notifying you of every single problem on your server multiple times. Still, I would rather be spammed with notifications than receive none at all.

If I had not switched from a CentOS box, I would not know the chcon command to set textrel_shlib_t to my mods, as I cannot do it in the SELinux Administration without making it global. How do I fix the troubleshooter to report?

Fedora Servers :: VMware Reports Wrong Space Available

Jan 13, 2009

I've a physical machine with FC9 running vmware server 1.0.6 with 2 virtual machines. Each virtual machine is also running FC9. Everything was running smoothly until one day, one virtual machine stop. I've checked /var/log/messages of that machine and it says:

Code:
"no space left on device"
.
I try to create a file
Code:
touch dd
and the answer is the same.

The odd thing about all this is that the machine (both virtual and physical) have enough space left. This is the space available reported by df -h. Physical machine

Code:
[root@halwifi hotspot]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
228G 38G 179G 18% /
/dev/sda1 190M 19M 162M 11% /boot
tmpfs 1010M 96K 1010M 1% /dev/shm
and the Virtual Machine

Code:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
8.7G 3.6G 4.7G 44% /
/dev/sda1 190M 19M 162M 11% /boot
tmpfs 379M 0 379M 0% /dev/shm

Every time I try to do something, I always get: "no space left on device".

Fedora :: Yum Update Reports Duplicates And Missing Dependencies

Aug 13, 2011

I have just got rid of Ubuntu in favor of Fedora, after more than ten years using Debian and Ubuntu. Most differences are pretty minimal but one big difference I haven't been able to master yet is the realm of rpm and yum. My kernel is 2.6.40-4.fc15.x86_64. Today, when running yum update I was greeted with a number of errors.

Output of yum check:
Code:
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit
glibc-2.14-5.x86_64 is a duplicate with glibc-2.14-4.x86_64
glibc-common-2.14-5.x86_64 is a duplicate with glibc-common-2.14-4.x86_64

1:perl-Pod-Escapes-1.04-160.fc15.noarch is a duplicate with 1:perl-Pod-Escapes-1.04-159.fc15.noarch
1:perl-Pod-Escapes-1.04-160.fc15.noarch has missing requires of perl = ('4', '5.12.4', '160.fc15')
1:perl-Pod-Simple-3.13-160.fc15.noarch is a duplicate with 1:perl-Pod-Simple-3.13-159.fc15.noarch
1:perl-Pod-Simple-3.13-160.fc15.noarch has missing requires of perl = ('4', '5.12.4', '160.fc15')
I have also attached the output of yum update, which I believe is more verbose on the sources, etc.

I'm afraid that if I just start forcing removal of packages I'll render my system useless.

The root password was.Could somebody point me towards a solution? Do I have to recreate the SSH keys?

Ubuntu / Apple :: Wireless Password Not Accepted ?

I have recently helped a friend of mine install ubuntu on their macbook which they have had since 2007 and we have run into a problem connecting to her wireless network. The WPA2 password that she uses is "invalid" while logged in under her ubuntu partition. We are able to connect to unprotected wifi networks without a problem and her home network can be accessed via OSX and my linux install on an acer aspire one (I'm running Peppermint OS at the moment). This has been a problem since day one of her ubuntu installation.

Networking :: Ports Forwarded But No Connections Accepted

Feb 28, 2010

I'm trying to setup my debian system so that I can access it's services from the internet

I have my router set to forward ports 21, 22, and 80 to the internal ip of the server, and internet port checking tools tell me the ports are open at my external ip.

On the debian I am running Apache, ProFTPD, and SSH Server, and they all work fine for me inside the network, but whenever I try connecting with my external ip, all connections are immediately refused.

So I don't know if its a problem with my router setup, with my debian system setup, or the setups of the servers.

Ubuntu :: Password Not Accepted And Recovery Console Is Dead

Aug 16, 2010

Yes thats right. Last night I changed my logon password for better security. (have a feeling my flatmate knows it). When I tried to log in today, it wouldn't accept my password. No I know that I got it correct. I know this for a fact. So after a few tries, I decided stuff this, I am going to reset it using recovery console. But the recovery console just hangs with the following on the screen:

[4.1098198] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 100x30

I can ctrl+alt f2, and I just get a flashing cursor. So that's it then. My ubuntu box is hosed and I am about twenty minutes away from formatting and starting again. 6 months of schoolwork, designs for architectural competitions etc all gone.

Debian Multimedia :: Authentication - Root PW Rejected / User PW Accepted

Jun 21, 2015

I installed Jessie with Cinnamon alongside Win 7 - all went quite well though I did have to do a bit of guessing along the way.

Following online tutorials etc, I tried to install sudo from the terminal. It did not go well - some stuff appeared that was not shown in the instructions from many sites. So I abandoned it, or so I thought.

Then I discovered that my root password was no longer recognised. So I reset it, following online instructions.

This was successful apparently, as I can log in as root and see this in the terminal.

But on trying to start Synaptic ( and later others), I found that the new root password would is not authenticated, but my user password does authenticate successfully. This seems to be the wrong way round!

Debian Hardware :: AMD 11.6 Driver Reports That It's 11.5

I just installed AMD catalyst 11.6 version and in the Catalyst Control Center in the Information tab says it's 11.5 (the previous version). What's more weird is that I had to completely uninstall the 11.5 version (with --force option) because the installer complained that something changed to the previous installation and it couldn't proceed automatically. It should therefor not be any remains from 11.5 version installed at all to mess up the new installation. So what version of the driver do I have? Ubuntu :: Get Reports Regarding PostgreSQL 8.4.7 Installation?

Mar 24, 2011

I'm trying to install pg_config so I can get some simple reports regarding my PostgreSQL 8.4.7 installation.

I downloaded pg_config and its dependencies and tried to install them with the package installer, but it wouldn't go because it seems like something may be wrong with the libkrb5-3 and libkrb5support0 packages - they won't install and the package installer just zips through without reporting missing dependencies or anything. The MD5, SHA1, and SHA256 checksums all match, but they just won't install.

I downloaded all the packages from the ubuntu [security] repository.

Because my Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) machine is not connected to the internet, I download packages to my Windows 7 machine, transfer them across my network to a shared folder on my Ubuntu machine and double-click the package to install.

I've successfully installed postgresql-8.4, apache-2.2.14, php-5.3.2, drupal-6.16, and several other packages and all their dependencies this way without any problems before.

To make sure I wasn't having some new problem, I then tried installing libk5crypto3 - it installed fine.

I sent an email to frank@lichtenheld.de , the repository maintainer, but haven't heard back from him yet.
