Debian :: LibreOffice 4.3.3.2 - Cannot Use Reports In LO Base

Apr 23, 2015

I'm using debian wheezy and i managed to install libreoffice 4.3.3.2 from debian wheezy backports.

The LO program works fine, except that i can't use reports in LO Base. When I'm trying to use a report file that already exists in a base file, i'm getting the message "loading component library <file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/librptlo.so> failed.

What should i do to make reports work;

Debian :: Stability Of Libreoffice Base?

Jun 8, 2011

I had made a database in OOO Base, but I guess because of the size, it's not uncommon for it to crash. Now that testing and Sid are now using LibreOffice, is the database any more stable? Or...is there an alternative database package to be used only on a local machine without a server?

Ubuntu :: 10.10 - LibreOffice 3.3 Base Very Slow

Feb 22, 2011

I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and Libreoffice 3.3. My Base is very very slow. I've already tried changing the JRE to the Oracle/Sun latest version and the problem is still there. The problem doesn't seem to be in the file, since I can open it on my Windows 7 Libreoffice, without any problems. Solving this bug is important for me to definitely migrate from Windows to Linux.

OpenSUSE :: No Navigation In LibreOffice Base Forms

Mar 13, 2011

I've just installed Opensue 11.4 (gnome-desktop) on my machine. The problem is that, if I open a database-form with libreoffice base, no navigation-bar appeares. The option "navigation" from the view-menu is not active. The database uses the built-in HSQLDB in single user mode. Navigation via libreoffice-basic is possible and I can see the first record - just it is not possible to navigate manually.

Ubuntu :: Permissions With LibreOffice .lck Files In LO-Base?

Feb 17, 2011

I've recently converted two Ubuntu 10.04 (one 64, one 32bit) machines to LibreOffice. We've used OpenOffice.org since early 2.x The issue is a database file created in OOo and now needing to be accessed in LO. As far as I know, there shouldn't be any issue with file compatibility. On the 64 bit machine, (a Ubuntu server installation - not headless) the file opens with no trouble and is fully accessible. (forms, reports, tables, etc.) However, on the 32 bit machine, trying to access the file over the network on the server via samba (because we also have Windows machines on the network, so I serve it all up via samba) I am able to open the database, but get the following error when trying to access any table, form or report: The connection to the data source "Mattress Prices" could not be
established.

Debian :: Tool For Squid Reports (not SARG) - Generate Less Amount Of Files - Optimal Is To Save Reports To The Database

May 9, 2011

I got the following task from my boss. I have to find out if there is some alternative tool for create reports from Squid except SARG. Now, we use SARG, but my boss told to me, that the main problem of SARG is, that SARG generate huge amount files, which cause problems during migration our servers. He told to me the following condition for change of current tool (SARG):

* standard package of Debian
* generate less amount of files, optimal is to save reports to the database

So I would like to ask you if you know about some tool (I can not find some by google)... and the best would be if you told to me some practical experiences.

Debian Hardware :: AMD 11.6 Driver Reports That It's 11.5

Jun 16, 2011

I just installed AMD catalyst 11.6 version and in the Catalyst Control Center in the Information tab says it's 11.5 (the previous version). What's more weird is that I had to completely uninstall the 11.5 version (with --force option) because the installer complained that something changed to the previous installation and it couldn't proceed automatically. It should therefor not be any remains from 11.5 version installed at all to mess up the new installation. So what version of the driver do I have? (I use the run script from the official AMD site if that is relevant)

Debian :: Disk Setup - Df And Fdisk Reports Different

Dec 9, 2010

I´m pretty new to linux and debian and I have a problem with my disk setup. I have a rocketRAID hardware card installed for RAID setup. In addition I have a separate HDD for linux and use the RAID-setup for server purposes. Now, when I boot the system, grub boots /dev/sda1. This does not work and I have to change to /dev/sdb1 for it to find the system files. (although sometimes it works, but in these cases the system does not find the RAID-disks. That´s for another time thou).

The strange thing about this, to me in any case, is that "fdisk" reports correctly, with sda and sdb but "df" reports all disks as sda and none as sdb. It also misses a partition of the RAID-disks which fdisk reports. here´s a screengrab from "fdisk -l" and "df -h"

Before I had a router that only went up to 100 Base T and I would setup one box with linux running proftpd. On the other box,I would use win xp pro and use firefox to ftp into the other box and download a file. Download speeds went up to 11.2 MB/sec. Debian :: SMART Reports Bad Sectors But Fsck Finds None

Nov 14, 2015

I am running Wheezy 7.9 (32 bit) and using Gnome Classic desktop. I have recently had several issues with system "crashes" and such, see some of my recent posts, and for now things seem to be working okay. As part of my attempts to "fix" the problems I looked at the hard drive using the SMART disk utility, and also ran "smartctl". The SMART utility reports that there are 3 bad sectors on the drive. When I run fsck, from a live CD, it does not report finding bad sectors. So why would fsck not find something that is reported by smartctl? Which one should I believe?

As a precaution I am now making daily backups of my /home directory and purchased a new HD just in case. Have not yet installed the new HD but at least I am prepared.

Debian :: UName -r Reports Wrong Kernel Package

Jul 29, 2010

I am having issues trying to compile the alsa-linuxtant module and I am getting errors about not being able to find some files and the source needing to be reconfigured. Anyway the developers told me to try compiling on a pristine source to see if I could compile that way. When I went looking at kernel.org I did not find a 2.6.32-5 version. So I did some checking and to see just what version I have.

$ uname -r
2.6.32-5-amd64
$ dpkg --list | grep linux-image

ii linux-image-2.6-amd 64 2.6.32+27 Linux 2.6 for 64-bit PCs (meta-package)
ii linux-image-2.6.26-2-amd64 2.6.26-24 Linux 2.6.26 image on AMD64
ii linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 2.6.32-15 Linux 2.6.32 for 64-bit PCs

So the actual package that is installed is 2.6.32-15 but uname -r reports 2.6.32-5 as the kernel version.

Debian :: What Is DPS File And How To View It In Libreoffice

Jul 14, 2015

What is a .dps file, how do I view the same in debian ? I did try a file and this is what I got :-

Code: Select all[$] file UEFI.dps
UEFI.dps: Composite Document File V2 Document, Little Endian, Os: Windows, Version 6.1, Code page: 1200, Author: xxxxx, Total Editing Time: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Last Printed: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Create Time/Date: Fri Sep 23 20:07:58 2011, Last Saved Time/Date: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Number of Pages: 0, Number of Words: 0, Number of Characters: 0, Security: 0, Locale ID: 2052

The .dps file is some Microsoft format. Libreoffice plays it cool. Although do get errors on the console like :-

Code: Select all(soffice:12869): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_style_context_set_path: assertion 'priv->widget == NULL' failed
* (soffice:12869): CRITICAL **: GdkPixbuf* bitmapToPixbuf(SalBitmap*, SalBitmap*): assertion 'pBitmap->mnBitCount == 24' failed

but still somehow functions...

Debian Hardware :: When Plug In Charger OS Reports Battery As Empty

Feb 4, 2016

I am having a rather odd issue, this week I installed Debian latest on to an old Acer Aspire 3810TZ; everything runs smoothly enough and I spent a good number of hours using the laptop on battery (about two or three, the battery is checked and in good enough condition given its age) then as the desktop widget reported the battery as being 22% or so full I decided to plug in the charger at which point the os reported the battery as being 0% and issued an immediate hibernation.

I have done a fair bit of searching for others whom have had the same problem, as I am sure its not a new one. But the majority of what I have read revolves around batteries not charging and mine certainly does, I just have to have the laptop switched off while I do so (unless its booted into windows, in which case its fine.)

Below is the output of acpi and upower.

Code: Select allsimon@DLC:~$ acpi -b
Battery 0: Discharging, 96%, 05:47:01 remaining
simon@DLC:~$ upower -d
Device: /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_ADP1
  native-path:          ADP1
  power supply:         yes

Debian Multimedia :: LibreOffice Crashes On Start-up

Sep 1, 2015

I installed libreoffice from the official Debian repository. Even after a clean installation of Debian Jessie, Libreoffice started and ran only once. After that, when LO was started, it gave an error message: "Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module".I installed "canberra-gtk-module." From then on, LO never gave any error message in terminal. The banner flashes across the screen for a moment and then disappears.

I deleted ~/.config/libreoffice folder and started LO again. Each time the command "libreoffice" is run in terminal, it creates the configuration files in ~/.config folder.I created a new user to check if LO would run. It does run when a new user account is created. But the problem keeps coming back.

After uninstalling libreoffice, I tried installing openoffice 4. Even openoffice 4 wouldn't start. The banner would just appear for a moment.
