Jun 8, 2010I have been running Ubuntu with no problems for a while now. Earlier today, I began to download some updates. When I came back to the computer, there was a prompt to restart, but also an error message. I didn't catch the error message until I had clicked the restart button. Now, when I try to access Ubuntu from the dual-boot menu (I run Vista as well), I keep getting the following error message.
[3.190034] Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unkown-block (8,2).I tried safe mode, and I got the same error message. Vista runs normally.

Feb 9, 2010I've scanned a document with OmniPage on a Windows PC; I've saved the images as black and white png and I can open them on Windows, but on Ubuntu Eye of GNOME gives me (for one image only) the critical error �PNG: Decompression Error� and doesn't open it, while Mirage, GIMP, GQview and F-Spot show an empty image. For some reason (hardware - I am guessing) the LiveCD does not boot on some laptops. The LiveCD worked well on my Dell Inspiron 1525 without any problems but my Fujitsu-Siemens refused to boot up. If you are trying to install or use F12 with the LiveCD ISO image burnt onto a CD on a laptop and fails with the following error:[drm:drm_mode_rmfb] *ERROR* tried to remove a fb that we didn't own Boot has failed, sleeping foreverthis workaround may work for you. Sometimes it will come up with another error about 'Root Device Not Found'
The workaround only works on a bootable USB key for some other reason, created with 'live-usb creator' and not a CD nor a LiveCD image on a USB created on a windows machine. I have tried them all.

Jan 24, 2011i set up openvpn on server and configure it then create license file for client and done the rest but when the client want to connect i got the following error :

and now the strange part is if i connect my pptpd connection ( which runs on another server ) and then connect openvpn again i connect instantly without any problem or error in my country im sure there is heavy firewall on all outgoing traffic but currently i do not understand what can cause this problem
i ran tcpcump and seems server receive packets and send it back to client ( though im not sure if client can get the response ) this is my server.conf

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).

Actually I have already installed the QT4 with the highest version correctly even I can used the QT UI for programming now. But still I faced the problem of lack of libraries afterwards.

Mar 1, 2010This, in conjunction with the "If nouveau refuses to die try" instructions, has now apparently basically trashed my fresh Fedora 12 x64 installation, which I had just set up. Another couple of hours gone to waste. I installed the package that Nokia offers as leigh123linux's build instructions last rpmbuild command persistently gave errors, restarted and was left with Nouveau showing some cryptic error message and finally being presented with only the console. Then I did the "if nouveau refuses to die try" part, foolishly figuring the nVidia driver might take over. Now I am left with watching Fedora's legacy boot animation (the loading bar) and then but one USB error message, nothing else. Looks like I'll be stuck with W7 for another while.

Jul 9, 2010I'm new to Fedora 13, although 10 years ago I fooled around a little with Red Hat 4.2 and Mandrake 7. I'm trying to install flash on my desktop. The install went as smooth as can be on my laptop, but the desktop isn't going well. First of all, My system is an AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core in an Asus M4N78 PRO motherboard with 4 Gb of RAM, although Gnome reports it as 3.8 Gb. Video is Invidia GeForce 5500.
The Flash install goes ok until I enter the command:
"yum install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper.x86_64
nspluginwrapper.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686
libcurl.i686"
Once that command starts running it pops out this error message:

I've tried the work arounds suggested by the error message and they didn't work. I tried downloading the missing file and it seems to not exist. I also tried this command:
