I can't seem to get BOINC to run on F12. I've installed it from the repositories and downloaded it from the BOINC website. I keep getting an error message "Error Retrieving current status".
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a friend's Samsung R530, Intel Core i3 3330M (T430) processor. It had Windows 7 installed, which crashed so I'm trying to recover the files before installing Ubuntu (the recovery partition is gone, there was no facility for making recovery disks and Samsung won't send any out). I put in the Live CD for 10.04 which took ages to load and then gave me the following error message:

which was repeated for [182] and [230] then it all went blank for ages then I got a message saying eject the cd and press enter, just like you do at the end of an install. However, I didn't get an option on whether to boot from the cd or install ubuntu. anyone got any clue what the error message means? and am I correct in thinking that the cd tried to install ubuntu? I've tried 3 different live cds, all of which have previously worked on other machines so I'm pretty sure it's not a cd issue.
But I can't get a single one of them to boot from cd and all throw up the same error messages, except the 9.04 cd, which just hangs. Have also tried a USB live image and got a disk error message. When I try booting from the HDD I get OS not found, boot from cd. Which is not entirely unexpected because of the previous problem with windows but it also seems that Ubuntu hasn't actually installed, or if it has then there's been a problem and it hasn't done it properly.
I was about to do upgrade from 11.3 to 11.4.I was following the guide I found in opensuse's website. I was to the point where I had to disable all 11.3 repositories and add the 11.4 at that point I forgot to change my nvidia repository ( I have a g210m graphic card).
thus after the upgrade the X could not start at all. I think this was because Yast could not find the nvidia driver.
Using text mode YaSt2 I added the nvidia driver but after restart I can not see and X running. I receive an error message that the current kernel can not be loaded!!!
I also checked in command line if there is something like Sax2.. but I couldnot find anything.
I'm a recently proud owner of a new Aspire AS3810T with Fedora 12 installed, when it boots up before entering the boot screen when it loads I see this error message:IOMMU: Mapping reserved region failedHow can i fix this error? It's quite frustrating

I dont know how to put this that somobody would understand my problem but here we go. I have problem like said in title.I am unable to upgrade my kernel. Sunaptics says that I have 2.6.35-28 installed. I tried to reinstall 2.6.35-28 via synaptics but it gives me error.

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus). The weird thing: after looking in var/log/messages it appears that it is trying to be used by NetworkManager. And when I lookin NM, i can see iPhone as an ethernet device (cable unplugged).
I am using a fully updated fedora 13 64-bit system and when i run make on xoscope i get the following error:

I have already installed all of the prereqs. And the configure went without errors.
I been running both OS's for a few months now with no major problems besides wireless internet issues. Today, however, as I go to boot my laptop up, the Dell logo loads with the F2 and F12 boot and setup options which both work. Directly after that though I get the message "GRUB loading. Symbol '?' not found. Aborted. Press any key to Exit." then it repeats when I push a key, and then it tells me to press F1 to retry, F2 to go to setup, or F5 to run diagnostics. It passes all the tests in diagnostics. I've tried booting off of the ubuntu cd I used to load it initially with no luck. So I'm stuck at either that error message or in setup but I can't go any further, and it does not change anything when I tried to boot from the cd.

I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install ubuntu 10.10 on xp,but, after waiting around 2 hours per instalation I received a error message that says:" unbuntu installer : and error occurred: coercing to unicode: need string or buffer, none Type found. for more information see log file C:1customerlocals-1 empwubi-10.10-rev197.109. I tried on one particion make just for it then I even tried on xp on C: I even put it on a pendrive but my bios is old and do not provide for usb booting. The other thing I have to try is making a boot cd but for one reason or the other , my recorder do not want to recornized my cds- rw and right now I do not have any regular blank cds . That will be my next step. Note: Ubuntu appears installed on the the control panel "add or removed programs" but not in "all programs" list. I'm a novice on this so maybe the answer was posted but I couldn't find it. Looking ahead to try it and be part of the linux team.

Here I select the 'boot' option. Now it shows a 'loading' page with a progress bar and 'Fedora 10' written on the right side [as usual].. After that, on the next page I get the following error..

Greetings from Greece. I tried to install opensuse 11.3 in an empty disk . Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.

I was noticed the below error message when I was installing the SKYPE linux version downloaded from the official web site of SKYPE. Actually I have already installed the QT4 with the highest version correctly even I can used the QT UI for programming now. But still I faced the problem of lack of libraries afterwards.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis, in conjunction with the "If nouveau refuses to die try" instructions, has now apparently basically trashed my fresh Fedora 12 x64 installation, which I had just set up. Another couple of hours gone to waste. I installed the package that Nokia offers as leigh123linux's build instructions last rpmbuild command persistently gave errors, restarted and was left with Nouveau showing some cryptic error message and finally being presented with only the console. Then I did the "if nouveau refuses to die try" part, foolishly figuring the nVidia driver might take over. Now I am left with watching Fedora's legacy boot animation (the loading bar) and then but one USB error message, nothing else. Looks like I'll be stuck with W7 for another while.
