I download the live 64 and burned it to a disk after it burns to the disk Brasero checks and says "error some files could be corrupted." I burn it slowest burn same thing happen. I downloaded thinking I had a corrupted download. Same thing happen. I never had a problem burning iso until now. What am I doing wrong?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI used a bootable usb (Ubuntu 10.10) to backup files from an infected windows machine. I made backup DVD's using Brasero and disabled full windows compatibility when burning them to disc. The really dumb part was I didn't check the DVD's before I reinstalled windows on the drive I was backing up. They were all there, I assumed they were ok. The files on the DVD's (mix of doc, xls, jpg, etc.) won't open in windows or Linux. Anybody know of a way to recover them? From what I've been reading, it seems like I'm screwed, but I thought I'd check with the experts. Is there a specific way Brasero/Linux changes the file, and can that info can be used to change it back? I assume it just cuts the name/header to 64 characters and I'm SOL. I'm going to see what diskdoctor's recovery software can get back from the hard drive.

How to burn my videos now.
I just moved my bottom panel to the right side of the screen and set it to auto-hide., The panel hid it'self but will not un-hide when I move the mouse to the edge of the screen... I tried to re-boot, but the panel is still "stuck"Is there an easy way to fix this? Or will I have to manualy delete the panel and make a new one
View 10 Replies View RelatedI tried the above using an existing multisession CD where data files were previously burned in a different pc using K3b. However, when the burning was completed successfully, the CD could not be read at all. I repeated the process with a blank CD choosing to leave it open in order to add more data later. All went well and the CD was readable but when I tried to add data to the same CD I got the message

I opted not to continue despite the temptation to see how invisible files can be read.
To sum it up, I find this turn of events absolutely appalling given that Brasero is the default software for CD burning in my system (Xubuntu 9.10). Can anyone tell me how to resolve this glaring shortcoming of Brasero so as to keep all my data files easily accessible in multisession CDs?
I have installed the Wubi version of Ubuntu 10.04 on my Dell 1537 Studio laptop. Additionally, I have installed the GDK plug ins for .MP3 file support. When the installation completed, there was a message indicating the installation was successful, but it was unable to install one plug in. I am able to play .MP3's, but I can not add them to an audio disk project in Brasero. When I have Brasero do a search for the missing software, it can not find what it needs.

Attached to it is an external hard drive (personal) that I would like to either encrypt or either make invisible tave ubuntu on my personal laptop.Could I make it ext4 and unviewable by Mac or PC or something along those lines so that nobody just goes through my (personal) stuff by just logging in and going on the desktop? I'm looking for something that will still allow me to access them fairly easily such as file permissions or something. I don't wanna put it into a zip file or a password protected rar file. I know nothing is 100% but I at least want a layer of security.

I tried to use Brasero to burn an iso to a cd; Brasero responds with the message "Please replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD." But my Sony and Maxell discs should be supported, so what could be causing this message?

So my goal here is to burn a Fedora13 install DVD. simple, right?I started by inserting the DVD in my drive. Checking the properties, I could see that there were 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free. Total capacity was also 0 bytes. I am not sure if this is a problem.I figured all was well.The error log was too large to upload to the forum (2.5MB) so I included only included the last parts of the log file.My guess is:
1.) I have a bad batch of SONY DVD-R's
2.) There is a Linux driver issue with the burner on my PC (Dell XPS 720)
3.) Somehow there is an issue with the .iso file.
Yesterday I burnt a couple of CD's with Brasero. Project completed successfully. But.. now if I try and open Nautilus and go to any of my folders under Places>Home/Music/Documents, in fact anywhere, it goes straight into Brasero and seems to think I have an uncompleted project. There is also a box open which promts me to rename/not rename for full Windows or Linux comaptabilty. As of right now I cant get rid of Brasero and get to any folders/files.
View 6 Replies View RelatedOne thing I was disappointed with Fedora 12 was the CD/DVD burning application Brasero. I used this application (version 2.6) on Fedora 11 and every time I created a video DVD, i would get an error 'You do not have the required permissions to use this drive'. Even though I was getting this message, it will burn the DVD successfully and I was able to watch the DVD on TV. But getting this error was annoying. I wrote to the developer Luis Medinas who didn't bother to reply. I posted question in Fedora forums and got no answers.
I came across a note on the internet that they have fixed this bug in version 2.8 that came with Fedora 12, so I installed a fresh copy of Fedora 12. But to my surprise this time Brasero came up with a different error.This time I wrote to another developer Philippe Rouquier and I haven't heard from him either. In next version of Fedora I would be very happy to see a "stable" CD/DVD burning application that won't throw errors.It is very annoying and a big turn off as a user. The only time I use Windows is to author DVD's TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 simply because in Linux there is no program that is sophisticated and stable enough.
I'm trying to burn an ISO file with Brasero. It always fails when finalizing.The ISO checksum is ok. The same ISO file is successfully burned in WinXP with CDBurnerXP on the same hardware. So the problem is neither the ISO file nor the hardware.What is wrong with my setup?

I've successfully ripped many of the DVDs to ISO with Brasero, but am now wondering if it'd be possible to burn these back to other discs if I bought them in the future. In other words, does Brasero leave copy protection in place and just bypass it when ripping to ISO, or does Brasero remove copy protection all together leaving me with an decrypted ISO?

I was trying to make a copy of a DVD recently. I started with Brasero, and when that didn't work, I installed k3b. Both came back w/similar symptoms. Neither burned the DVD and seemed to hang up. When either program stopped/hung, I checked on the file that was being captured from the original DVD and discovered that both programs produced a max file of 1.5 GB (source was 6+ GB). I checked the size of the partition where the file was being temporarilty stored and there is 18 GB of space.

For brasero I see that you need an md5 file but it will be to tedious to use an md5 utility to make a checksum for every file and then put in in a txt.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to hide some folders in Ubuntu Linux which are always hidden in Windows through File/Folder Attributes (attrib -h)
It is not an option for me to rename the folder from let's say "Ancient texts directory" to ".Ancient Texts Directory" because the programs associated with these files and shortcuts will not work in Windows. I would like to make the folder hidden by not renaming the folder. Is that so hard to ask?
Is there really no other way of making a folder or a file hidden in Linux just like in Windows by Applying Attributes? I Don't want to rename it by putting a dot in front of it. Moreover renaming a file by putting a dot in front of the name changes the position the folder appears in the list view. For some people this may be ridiculous, but for me with a few hundred files and folders and subfolders, this organisation is important, aside from the aforementioned reasons.

I had a running server (mandrake10.1) that I wanted to transfer to a better version of linux, so, I decided to install in a new hard drive the new version and adding as slave the old hard drive that it contended data files. When I finish all the installation I start to try to find the old data files but I din't find, (/dev/hdb), the hd is mounted already, but when I look inside all files are hide.
View 2 Replies View Related1st, I got the OS install. I just want to hide some program launcher from menu bar. In the old Gnome, it work this way, I put the mouse on the menu bar, and then right click, choose preference then I can hide everything I wanna hide. But I can not do that on F12 any more, I tired to refer to Gnome instruction manual on Gnome web site. It seems like they did not change anything on Gnome 2.28. Since the instruction remain the same.
2nd I also want to ask, how do I change the default interface language setting in F12? In previous version I just need to do that in SYSTEM-->Preference. But I can not see the option any more either.
3rd I can not install the NVIDIA proprietary driver even though I got GCC and kernel development header in place. The install log said:" The binary file is not for the kernel" Well, I just use the regular i686 kerenl as usual. It does not make sense it will not work.
I got the driver running by using the rpmfusion driver, not the one from Nvida
By the way, The nouveau driver in F12 works far from OK on my GO 7300. It just like a slave driver that whip the GPU at full out all the time, let alone it does not have 3D capability.
The live cd does not include GCC and kernel development header. That made me feel like walking on the moon but forgot to put the gravity suite on.
is this possible? I can't find a answer for this question..
