Why my weather and temperature quit displaying after I upgraded to FC11 from FC10. I used to see sun or clouds and the current temp. Now just the date and time. I have the location set, and even tried removing the clock and re-added to the taskbar.. still no luck. I know it worked with fc9 and fc10. Not sure if it worked in fc11 and then stopped working, or never worked at all.
View 14 RepliesI am running Lucid x64 on an Gigabyte Mobo with an Intel E6500 CPU.I think this script pulls the temperature from /proc/acpi/thermal_zone. However, that directory is empty.I can get the cpu temp by using lm-sensors or by running this:

Any ideas on how to get landscape-sysinfo to display the temperature
Did anyone figure out how to put the weather back on the toolbar? I find that I really miss it.
View 14 Replies View RelatedIn my system, the temperature of the CPU can be known from the file,/sys/bus/acpi/devices/LNXTHERM:00/ thermal_zone/temp . But I have found that not all systems have this file. Is there a generic method to get the temperature. Installing a package for this purpose won't be a solution as I'm building a simple gnome-shell extension. Something that comes along with the kernel would be perfect.
What could be other files that can possibly store temperature information, so that it would work on most atleast if not all? Any help like the file that stores temperature on your particular system only would also be highly appreciated.
It simply doesn't work. No matter what city I put there (I even tried putting American cities) the applet just widens a bit to the left and shows nothing. Doing some searches, I learned the protocol it uses is called METAR, the data is provided by airports, and the list of locations is at:[URL]..
But this file doesn't exist! What exists is:[URL].. And that one only has American cities. But, as I said, not even American cities work. Where should I start looking?
Can I get back my weather status (like I had in the toolbar next to Date/Time in Gnome2)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to F13 certainly - but from time to time my clock in Gnome will throw a wobbly. Not even consistent wobblies, sometimes the weather is missing completely, as now, sometimes only a slice of the weather icon appears, and the time/date display can be garbled. It seems to happen after a change such as booting up or a weather update, I've tried removing the applet from the panel and re-installing it, and even removing and re-installing the top panel. I'm reluctant to try removing and reinstalling Gnome-applets as that can remove a whole slew of dependencies and possibly bork an otherwise reliable install, after all I can live with it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've Fedora 11 64-bit with Sun java SDK 1.6.0_18 and when quitting eclipse, the GUI window will be gone, but the process eclipse and java that it instantiates will not die. Subsequent execution of eclipse just creates new eclipse and java processes, taking up more memory. It doesn't matter whether I run from the command line or from the gnome menu.I tried both Fedora packaged eclipse-platform-3.4.2-20.fc11.x86_64 and the manually downloaded Eclipse Galilio, with the same problem. I tried removing ~/workspace/, ~/.eclipse and also tried -clean option, but still no go. I also have ~/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_*/configuration/config.iniosgi.bundlefile.limit=100 as explained in other threads which solves the start problem, but it has no effect for stopping.l -9.

I thought that it's caused by the browser, until I played Machinarium (the flash game without browser) I realized that only Adobe flash is the problem. I have the last Adobe flash update/ using fc12.
I am running F13 on an old P4 laptop with the dreaded Intel 8245G graphics. It is running 80% of the time just fine, but the other 20% I am still getting the well known X crashes with this chipset. I also keep a close eye on the temps and the P4 doesn't have complete sensors, so when I run sensors, I get:

about 5 mount ago, i installed WarZone game on my fedora 12 x86-64 and it's run correctly but when i upgraded my f12 to f13, my desktop won't start correctly after quit warzone. when i quit warzone, my desktop won't start correctly, and i have a black screen with mouse, and nothing else. i asked about this problem, on warzone's forum and they called me:

I upgraded from fc10; there was a residue of four fc10 2.27 kernels in /lib/modules from my fc10->fc11 upgrade; I moved them to a new subdirectory /usr/oldmodules, but the yum update command still produces the same failure message.
I was on version 2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.x86_64 and it asked me to update so I did. When I restarted I chose this version to install and after a brief loading screen it goes to a black screen with a cursor prompt and pretty much stays there. So I go back to 2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.x86_64 which boots up just fine. But after a while I get some updates that won't install because it says that Packages are not compatible:Install - Linux Kernal 2.6.30.5-43.fc11(x86_64)

I am trying to compile ffmpeg (and libraries) but im stuck. I am running x86_64 FC11 and want to compile 32 bit binaries so i can post them online for people to download, and mine is different then the ones hosted by the yum repo's.

I recently update FC10 to FC11 and Yum has stopped working. Also, "Add/Remove Software" has no packages listed. And, I have no Software repositories listed. When I try to run Yum I get the following:

it's possible to use preupgrade to go directly from FC8 to FC11.
Also, I'm wondering if this will allow me to avoid formatting my hard drive or not. I'll have backups ready just in case, but was hoping maybe I could get away with not having to do the old two-step shuffle with all my data.
After a base install of FC11 i don't have vimdiff nor can i get it with yum

I have other two kernel installed, 2.6.30.9-96.fc11.i586 andn 2.6.30.9-90.fc11.i586.
But my fc11 cannot work with them.
So every time I start the system, I need to press tab key and choose the lower version kernel.
on fc7-10 the sound on my laptop worked, in fc11 it is broken. just did a yum update How to get sound up and going?

I had FC 6 and FC8 installed on a laptop, and all my video players (xime, vlc, mplayer) worked perfect. However I installed FC11 and the video freezes for few seconds while the sound is working o.k. then the video starts moving faster to synchronize the sound. View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the last couple of weeks I was trying to work thru some issues regarding access from my FC11 box to my WinXP box over the local network (Have had no problem using Samba to go the other way). I was trying to use smb4k and couldn't seem to make it work. Maybe that's because I use Gnome as my desktop (tho, I would guess that the install of smb4k would include necessary dependencies for KDE).I went back to this problem today and figured out how to access the window shares using Gnome Connect to Server function (Have tried it in the past but must have been doing something wrong). I now get the icon on my desktop and the appropriate listing in the Place menu.
What I notice is when I click on the icon (or select the share listing on the Place menu) to open the "folder" I get a duplicate of the icon on my desktop and duplicate listing on the Place menu. The window opens with access to the folder without any problem. If I close the window, it does so just fine, but I'm left with the duplicate icon and menu listing. To get rid of these "extraneous" items, I need to unmount the volume. Then the extra icon and Place menu listing are gone. If I already have opened the window and incurred a duplicate icon, etal., even if I close and then open it again, no more duplicates are added.Is this normal or is there a setting I need to change to keep this duplicate from happening.
