I put this in the end of the file "/etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf"("192.168.1.194" is the IP address of my computer. The default gateway IP address is "192.168.1.1"):

It works if i go to "http://192.168.1.194/" with the browser of the computer with apache inside, but on the others PC of my networking this method don't work!

Jun 26, 2010I have a "stable" core 10 server that is hosting multiple visualizations: Setup details The host is on a dedicated non raid drive. The virtualization for each system was created in one of two ways... mainly because I was learning when I set this up a year ago. The first way was that I created the filesystem as a .img on the boot drive then I added access to a raid5 array as an additional mount point in the booted .img file. This has worked fine for a year. The second way was introduced when I added a raid1 array for additional "testing" systems. I partitioned the raid1 like this:

I then proceeded to add /dev/md1 as a mount point to the original .img for additional storage works fine. I then created a new system using /dev/md2 this is where things change up as I installed Core12 system directly onto the /dev/md2.....

Aug 15, 2010Recently I've been earning money doing web development, php, html/css, MySQL and so on. What I have encountered a lot are clients that need a complete solution. They need their site built, but they also need a hosting solution. I've sent more than just a few clients off to GoDaddy, and quite frankly, I'd like to cash in on some of that.
It would do wonders for my business if I could offer them a hosting solution with full support on top of building their site. My problem is I have no idea how to do this. So I'd like to know how I can host multiple sites on the same server. Does anyone know of a nice guide I can follow to set this up? It's really important that I can add sites fairly easily over the internet. Since I will be away at school, I won't have direct access to the server

Sep 8, 2009Many of mails sent from my mail server that are in Queue;The main reason is deffered by domains like yahoo,aol,etc.but there is one more error that i keep getting and that is Host Unknown,Below is an example from mail log,The catch is,test mail sent on the same email id sent from my personal mail from the same server i.e. url was deliveredHowever,another mail containing client information sent from customercare@mycompanysdomain ended up in queue.
There are more examples of the same,around 20 domain have the same problem.

Host: Win server 2003
Guest: Ubuntu server
Host: IS able to ping guest. Firewall is OFF. NOT able to access guest (which is a web-server) at browser.
Guest: NOT able to ping host. Running a web server, you can check the website: (pegajosa.com) is running under that virtual Linux server.
Problem: guest needs to access host's sql database and/or any resources.
Network: is bridged.
At the Linux box ifconfig -a code...

Apr 20, 2010I'm not sure is this is possible or not, but what I would like to do is take my public address mydomain.com and configure a virtual host something.mydomain.com only instead of having the content on the same server I would like it to point to the IP of my virtual machine that is in my private network and display that page publicly. Does anyone know if this is possible, or how to do it? I have done this with port forwards, but would like them both to be on the same port.

I have tested the domain name across a few different computers on different ips. It works appropriately. I just want to make sure I have it set correctly on the (apache) server side of things. Then I can get more into Zone Editing etc.

Oct 26, 2010I'm hosting my own dedicated server with Ubuntu Server 10.10. I have it set up with a static local IP, and I've configured DynDNS to link up with my router and allow my server to go live to the internet. I have all the appropriate ports unlocked, with the exception of port 80. This port is blocked by my ISP (Charter) and I can't use it. Due to this, I configured my router to listen on port 81, and direct it to my server.
So, In order to view it, you need to go to the IP XXX.xxx.XXX.xxx:81 Today, I registered (www.online-self.com) in hopes of getting around my current mask (provided by DynDNS.com (omegame.selfip.com). So here is my dilemma, When I go to the host of my domain name , I want to redirect my DNS to my server IP.
I can't seem to do it though? They want a strict IP address, no port extensions. How do I get around this so that my domain name and IP address link up? I'm thinking I may be missing a step, or maybe I needed to register a domain name that simply redirects? I'm starting to get confused on what I should do next. Can I even do this?

Nov 9, 2010For the last couple of days I've been building on a server built from an old (well, not too old) computer. My goal is to use it for multiple purposes like a webserver, home automation, and possibly a future media center (if I get my TV card to work). But perhaps the main reason is to get wireless access to the internet for my laptop, and to connect it to my other (stationary) computer. When I'm done I'm also planning on writing a guide for setting up an access point with the rt61 chipset, as there seems to be many people looking for this. First I just need to get through this problem though .
For this I use two wired NICs, eth0 for the local interface to my computer, and eth1 as an external interface for the internet. Moreover I use a wireless NIC (DWL-G510 using the rt61pci driver) in conjunction with the daemon hostapd to provide a wireless interface for portable computers to connect to. eth1 gets its IP through DHCP from my ISP, while eth0 and wlan0 have static IPs on two different subnets like this (copied from /etc/network/interfaces):

Oct 30, 2009Bit of an odd one, this. I've migrated a website from my old server to a new machine. Both servers run Ubuntu + Apache2. Both only serve a single site, apart from the default site.I've flipped the domain name to the new IP address.The trouble is that after moving the virtual host config over into sites-available, with the necessary link in sites-enabled, Apache attempts to serve from the default web root (/var/www) rather than the actual site content (in /var/www/technology). So for example, an attempt to browse.

Jul 17, 2011I have a ubuntu 10.04 dedicated server that I am having problems with. It intermittently cannot connect to any other servers outside its network.

(I have tried a bunch of other ips too and none outside its network are pingable) I'm not sure if this is a problem with my server or a problem with the networking outside the server. I have been emailing my server provider and they keep on insisting the problem is with the server and that their network is working fine. Apparently all of their other servers work and they can login into the gateway and ping 8.8.8.8 from there. So they just want to reinstall the OS, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has any ideas.
Here is some info I have gained while troubleshooting: I haven't changed any settings at all on the server for months. I haven't done any updates for about a week. The strangest thing is that this is intermittent, there have been a few times in the last 24 hours where I have been able to ping 8.8.8.8 or other ips, but 98% of the time I can't. I have also tried rebooting the server, which had no effect. I can ping the gateway, and I can ping other servers on the same subnet. I can ssh onto the server from my home internet connection, and I can view webpages on apache, so incoming connections work.
