Some how I managed to scan modem communication taking place on the windows system, and tried exact commands on linux system still I am not able connect.
I have attached log files from windows machine. wvidial.conf, wvidial out put file along with this post.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Fedora 13, everything seems to work but the Internet connection. 3 devices are shown in the "Network Configuration" window (devices tab)(under "Network Device Control")"Network Cards" (wired) (wireless) and even the Motorola Modem from the ISP as well as all of the primary and secondary "DNS's", but will not connect! I have Broadcom devices on a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop. On the upper right of the desktop, the connection icon shows when I plug and unplug the cat5e, so it sees something there, but will not connect.

I use Ubuntu i can not work internet connection Please help me search for a solution but did not find
Use the USB modem model x060s.
I am using Linux Mint 9 Gnome: Isadora (since the same Network Manager applet is used in Ubuntu, I am asking the question here too)I was trying to configure my wireless card to connect my PPPoE connection by using the command pppoeconf wlan0 and also pppoeconf.I was not able to dial my PPPoE connection when connected via Wi-Fi. When I restarted my system, in the Network Manager, under Wireless Networks it says "Device not managed". Now I am not able to use my Wi-Fi card at all and cant connect to my Wi-Fi modem.
There is no hardware Wi-Fi switch, only the key combination Fn+F2 to enable or disable the wireless card.I have used the key combination Fn+F2 (which enables or disables the Wi-Fi card) many a times, but the same thing is displayed in the network manager. If I use LiveCD mode and use any distro even Isadora, the Wi-Fi works fine.My ethernet connection is working fine. I can connect to the internet if I connect my modem using Ethernet port.
how to connect my modem to the Internet, the help file on my Ubuntu 9.10 does not match the features available. I am using a modem from Starcomms (a local CDMA services provider in Nigeria) made by Epi Valley.

My internet is provided by a 3g modem usb. I am sharing the internet connection through my desktop into a router and then to the rest of my Ubunut machines. Currently if I want to file share I have to go into the network manager and change the eth0 settings from shared to dchp automatic and then unplug the cable from the internet port on the router to one of the network ports. Is it possible to add another network card to the main machine and use that exclusively for either internet or file sharing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a cable modem wired to my PC via ethernet. My ISP is Road Runner, through Time Warner Cable.
I entered my IP address, Netmask, and DNS Servers into the network, not using DHCP. This was how I was able to achieve a network connection.
I am connected to the modem, but I cannot get internet.
Here are my stats:
I have installed WvDial (apparently) but it has no icon or launcher to start it by default, how do i get it to run? I also need basic set up how to. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) and network manager doesn't seem to be able to use my modem to connect to the internet (set up wizard works, appears connected, but then I get page not found error). Hence I wish to use WvDial to try to connect instead.

I have 2 pcs at home. I dont have a switch so I can connect only one PC at a time to my adsl router/modem for internet access. In the past I had successfully connected the two PCs (NIC to NIC) to each other using the same ethernet cable which was supplied with my dlink adsl modem.
Recently the motherboard of on of my PC went bad so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is when I connect the two using the same Ethernet cable they won't connect. The lights on the Ethernet port won't light up. I can still connect both of them to the adsl router (NIC to Router) (one at a time).

How do I connect to internet?
Is the driver for my device missing on my system?
I am using a dell laptop which has Dell 1397 802.11B/G Wireless Mini Card. I not able to connect to internet and was not able to detect what actual problem is weather card is not supported (i.e. drivers are not available) .
Also, if any one can point to exact process to connect to wireless Lan using fedora12.
i finished installing CentOS 5 and managed to connect to the Internet. My Network Interface Card (NIC) is "Atheros L2 Fast Ethernet" and it is not in the device list. anybody can tells me what i should do now to be connected to the Internet?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1545 computer. I boot into Ubuntu with a flash drive. When I boot, I cannot connect to a wireless network. No available networks are displayed (and I know my router is on) and the Network Manager icon displays no bars. I suspect that the Dell Wireless card (having a Broadcom BCM-4312 chipset) needs a driver. I have tried to intstall both of the restricted drivers (BCM STA and 43xx drivers), but with no success. I have run lspci in Terminal, and got many lines of text. Here are the lines that look relevant to me:
Code: 09:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (rev 13) 0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01) In Windows 7, everything is just fine. In Ubuntu, my wired connection works like a charm, but is not really accessible. Basically, I have to connect to wireless in Ubuntu or I have no reason for having it.
Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.
I'm running F12 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I don't have any problems connecting to eth0 or wlan0 when I'm at work or when connecting to a variety of cable modems, but for some reason I can't connect to AT&T/Bellsouth's dsl modem at my house (can't connect directly, much less through my DI-524 D-Link wifi).Does anyone have any idea why? I've been through every setting I can think of and I've stayed on the phone with techsupport for AT&T and physically watched as they've pinged and reset my modem, so signal into the house/modem is good....and I can hit the modem's IP and go through all of the configuration settings and everything from Bellsouth says that I'm connected and online, but when I attempt to go to another website like google or yahoo or fedora.com, I get a message telling me "Server at ******** not found."After spending 2.5 hours on the phone last night with tech support, I came into the office tonight and hooked right up to TruVista's (cable) network.

Ubuntu detects the data card flawlessly but just doesnt connect. This problem has been persistent even in previous ubuntu versions, n I used to use wvdial. But downloading wvdial on some other comp with every dependency is really cumbersome.
