Fedora Networking :: WiFi Stability In F9 And F10 / Hope For F11

Mar 27, 2009

I have atheros wifi chip and I got wifi through madwifi. I was using f9 and my wifi connection in very stable. Then I tried F10. It has already firmware for atheros in it kernel. It get connect through wireless network (wifi) but soon it disconnect. I updated NetworkManager but no fruitful result came. Finally again I switched to f9 and I got very stable connection. But I am missing the features of f10. I hope that the connection will be stable in f11. I tried to install f11 but it says /dev/root not found again it shows that something clock time at the time of booting and it stop booting. So finally I choose to use f9.

Ubuntu Networking :: DWA 547 Connectivity Stability?

Apr 4, 2011

I have an issue with my Dlink DWA 547 802.11n PCI adapter, I'm under LUCID fully updated.I have no trouble connecting to any wireless but after a few minutes I'm loosing the connectivity strenght (getting ping reply from my router that vary from 2ms to 200ms). But as soon as I'm rescanning the network using the command (sudo iwlist wlan0 scan) everything is fine (constant 1-2ms ping). I'm using wicd as network manager. I have tried to schedule a job in crontab to launch every 10min a network scan command, but didn't succeed to have it working, morehover I don't think that's the good way.

Ubuntu Networking :: No Wireless Stability - Router Not Found

Feb 6, 2011

Ubuntu 10.04 x86. Yesterday I installed 10.10 and had lots of trouble with wireless stability. I formatted the partition and installed 10.04. My wireless router does not show up in the available routers list. Neither in the list that immediately shows or under the More networks submenu. Lots of other routers from adjacent homes show up, but not mine in the other room.

Why? It shows up on all of my other computers. My MacBook, Windows 7 (different partition on same box), my older Ubuntu netbook, and it showed up on a previous install of 10.10 (though it could not maintain the connection longer than 5 minutes). It will not show up on Ubuntu 10.04. I've tried manually entering the information to connect, but it doesn't see it. I don't know what to do.

Networking :: Using Ethernet To Power WiFi Network And Setting Up WiFi?

Aug 23, 2009

I have an old PowerBook G4 that I would like to use as a 'dummy' computer for learning wireless penetration (WEP/WPA attacks) more effectively. I had been using a wireless router, but I gave it away I can use Mac OS X to share an ethernet connection over wifi, but this is _very_ un-configurable. You get two options only, WEP and a key-length. So, I would like to install someway to make this wireless connection more configurable.

Ubuntu Networking :: Intel 5100 WiFi Card - Dell Latitude E6400 - Suddenly WiFi LED On The Computer Stops Blinking

May 4, 2011

I am running (K)Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 64bit on a Dell Latitude E6400, WiFi Card Intel 5100. Never had any problems with networking. Up to about 2 weeks ago. I do realize there have been quite a few posts with this network adaptor, but non really described the problem I have here.

What happens is that suddenly the WiFi LED on the computer stops blinking, the WiFi connection gets disrupted, and the device is not recognized anymore when checking ifconfig. Only cold restarting the machine helps then... it will work for a while (between 1 and 20 minutes) and then crash again.

On Windows 7 the card works perfectly fine. With Ubuntu 11.04 in Live CD mode I have the same effects (connection crashes after a while). Also tried booting an older kernel, no success.

Fedora Networking :: Get Wifi To Work After Reboot?

Dec 25, 2010

I ran yum broadcom-wl and installed the driver for my card no problem. I connected to the internet just fine using my wifi thereafter.

When I shut my laptop down and booted sometime later, the wireless connection was gone and I didn't even see a wireless adapter in the networking applet.

I tried to run insmod wl and insmod wl.ko and that failed.

So... after using yum to install the broadcom drivers, how can I make that install 'permanent'; so I don't lose my wireless adapter each time I reboot?
