I read in the forums that this could be bcoz of ipv6 and i have disabled it(or so I believe )
but still i'm unable to open the site.. the page loads half and gets stuck ...
i hv installed firefox 3.6 in fedora 14. From 2 days i m not be able to open some of the sites in firefox like warez-bb, addon.firefox, etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've installed 10.10 yesterday on my old HP Pavillion ze2000 as dual boot with windowsXP and the wireless was working normally, I've updated everything it asked to update, rebooted a few times due to some of the updates. Today when I turned it on it was connecting normally to the router, though when I opened mozilla or tried to ping the router IP on the network tools neither have worked. Couldn't open any site on mozilla or ping any ip although it says I'm connected to my wireless router as it would normally. When I open into the XP my firefox there works just fine.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHave just installed Ubuntu 9.10 in Vmware workstation 6.5.1 and unable to connect to external sites, or servers (using NAT). I can ping on host name and IP but can't resolve either host or IP in browser (Receive message the connection has timed out). I can't ping the host (Windows 7 Professional) IP from the guest and vice versa. I use a mobile wireless network card, and my Windows operating systems work successfully in vmware. Currently in my VMNet8 properties I just have Obtain IP address and DNS Automatically (same as host).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI managed to configure my W890i phone to get access to internet through an ubuntu-based computer. It's very easy to use the phone to give internet access to the computer, but the opposite is quite more tricky. For that I've done the following
----On the phone---
-Set the USB network option to "through computer", so that the phone uses the computer's internet connection and not the opposite.
-Decide and set "Shared Network" parameters: user, pasword and workgroup.
-In "conectivity-> internet connection" set "allow local network" to "yes"
----On Ubuntu 10.04---
-Install samba, samba-client, smbfs, smbclient, firestarter and dhcp3-server
-Configure Samba (System-> Administration-> Shared folders): same workgroup as in the phone, add new user (the phone), passwd this new user. In my case the user was called "w890i" and the password given was the same.
-Once the phone is connected to the computer through USB (then select "phone mode"), a new connection appears in NetworkManager: usb0.The aim is to create a shared network that gives internet access to this device. Edit the IPv4 parameters of this new connection, set them to Manual and give an IP adress (192.168.0.1) and a subnet mask (255.255.255.0); the rest of the fields are left empty.Connect this network.
-Set firestarter to use dhcp3: sudo ln -sf /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server /etc/init.d/dhcpd
-Launch firestarter and follow the wizard. Set "allow internet shared connection", choose the device for the primary internet access, and then the device for the shared network (usb0). Then change the settings for firestarter: activate DHCP for local network, set IP to the one we gave before (192.168.0.1).
-Open dhcp3-server config file sudo gedit /etc/default/dhcp3-server And set INTERFACES="usb0"
-Set the policies of firestarter: in incoming connections, allow connections from the IP adress given to the phone (192.168.0.1). Then add rules for the ports that need to be open for this connection. I opened HTTP, HTTPS, SMB, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, IMAPS, DHCP for all the connections in the local network.
-Apply policies and start the firewall.

After all this, the phone can access the internet through the computer. Two problems appeared:
1. I couldn't get access to https sites, like webmails. The phone gave a "communication error". But then I tried with Opera instead of the browser built in the phone's firmware, and I could finally get to https sites.
2. I couldn't retrieve mail, neither POP nor IMAP nor IMAPS. I thought it was a firmware problem again, and I tried out several mobile phone email clients written in java, but none of them worked.
So this is at the moment the problem. If I connect from the phone to the internet directly through 3G, the email clients work for all my accounts. I don't think it's a firewall problem, because the ports are opened for this connection
I have installed a web server on my local network. Everything is well configured and web pages are shown correctly from Internet (outside the local network) using the domain or the public IP.The issue is if I try to see that web pages (using the domain or the public IP) from inside the local network. In that case the router config page (192.168.1.1) is shown instead of the web pages.From inside the local network I'm only able to see the web pages using the internal IP address (192.168.1.XX).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI can ping certain websites, such as Adobe.com, but I cannot access them via http (i.e. through firefox or yum). Some websites work through http, like Google, while others don't. The ones that don't are always the same.
What really hurts here is I cannot yum to all repos i'd like to. Since the same sites cannot be accessed through firefox, I imagine there is some underlying problem with my system's HTTP setup.
My windows machine on the same network works fine. I have had this problem since I installed Fedora 10 about 4 months ago. I'd rather not reinstall as nothing really seems broken (aside from this http issue), my system is completely up to date.
If I use a public proxy website I can get to the sites I can't connect to directly. I've followed a FAQ from mozilla for Firefox that hasn't helped, but I don't think its a Firefox issue since yum suffers as well. I also followed the fedora FAQ and I have been using OpenDNS servers.
I have a question which it believe it is quite simple but I have no clue how to do it... I'm using Fedora 12 and I'm the only Linux machine in my office's LAN... I have Apache (httpd) setup and my co-workers can access the sites perfectly by using my IP address, for example [URL]... View 1 Replies View RelatedI have FC-4 with Squid and Dansguardian. Internet Users in my organisation are configured to use proxy with 8080 in browser IE. There's no issue with Users as DG working perfect for them. We have Business Development Team, as they need to do most of the research over internet, their IP's are included into "Exception IP List" in Dansguardian. Obviously these people will be excepted from all banned sites, BD Team able to do chat, play games and do social networking and other stuff over the net, which results in more bandwidth consumption and breaking office policies.
I have tried to implement SQUID ACL's to block few sites like " meebo.com, orkut.com,facebook.com etc" but SQUID acl's not coming into picture. any one who successfully blocked chat, banned sites and social networking in DG with my case.
I installed F14 on a friend's computer a couple of weeks ago. Today she called me saying that her ISP called her telling her they'd have to cancel her internet if she didn't fix whatever virus was sending port scans to edu domains that they'd gotten complaints from. I thought "well, there's a first"... I've got ssh to her computer, so i shelled in and ran a couple of commands, but i really know very little about how to investigate this kind of stuff.
She's directly connected to her cable modem via cat-5; but she does have a wireless card installed --she just doesn't use it, nor a router, afaik, nor as far as i'd seen when i setup her printer. I googled a bit, and ran a couple of commands, and 1 of them was interesting because it APPEARS that her wireless card is ON and the eth0 is OFF? Perhaps someone will know how to read this output better than i, and the output of the other command that i ran. Also, does anyone know any other ways to properly investigate this one? FWIW, she does use transmission to download torrents.

In the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10
I was wondering if there's any resource that explains how to use w3m. I checked the man page but this just lists the startup options. I also did some google searches but couldn't find anything useful. I was able to find bits and pieces of info on different sites (e.g. how to enter a URL, how to go back a page, etc.) but there was no site that had all this sort of information in one place.

I've been tasked with transferring a Python web server from a Debian box to a Fedora server for work. (I think) I've been able to transfer all required files but I'm unable to run the web server because whenever I make the HTTPServer call in the python file I get an error "Cannot assign Requested Address".
I've basically traced the issue back to the server being unable to open a socket on the requested port (8085 in this case). I've checked netstat and there are no processes running on that port (or any other one I've tried for that matter) so wondering if there's a system configuration I need to do to allow programs to bind to sockets. Is there a deny configuration set up somewhere I need to modify? Does this even make sense?
I am trying to make a vnc connection from pc #2 to pc #1. Pc #1 is a debian pc behind a zyxel router (P-2602HW-D1A). Pc #2 is a windows xp pc another place at the internet.I have configured the zyxel router to forward incomming trafic on port 5902 to the local ip-adress of the debian box. The debian box is running a vnc server, listening on port 5902.But i dosn?t work.I have tryed to scan the zyxel routers ipadress on port 5902 from the internet, but the scanner says that the port is closed.The vnc server on pc #1 is working fine on the local network. I can connect to the server from a pc on the same side of the zyxel router.Is it deffenitly a router problem, or could it have something to do with debians own firewall?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working and researching this for about a week now and I still haven't had any luck. Basically, I have been trying to open port 3306 to allow connections to my MySql server.
i've added the rule into iptables, saved and restarted that i've added the rule into my router. and I have removed "skip-networking" from the my.cnf file and added the blind address in, I'm trying to get this all to work on my LAN, but it doesn't seem to work, I've also restarted the entire server and then port scanned it from outside and inside the networking and it still tells me that 3306 is closed.
I did however i had some luck when I entered the Ip of the machine that would be sending data to the server but then PROFTPD stopped working and the port was open :/ im not really sure what ip should be in there but another thread from another forum said to enter the ip of the machine that mysql is installed on.
so currently its 192.168.0.2 which is the static internal address of the server.
every machine on the network has a static ip and all the rules have been added to each firewall, i.e. server and router firewalls.
ill pop my "my.cnf" under this to see if anyone can find a mistake,

i am new using ubuntu 10.10 and so far i like it but the only thing i have problems is to be able to connect to the network i am running Windows 7 on the main pc and when i try to connect to the network (Click on Places, Network, Windows Network "icon appears" "right click on it" and get message Unable to mount location, "Failed to retrieve share list from server" i have try many solutions for the last 3 days but no luck can somebody i just want to share some music files and be able to connect to sound system and play the music

Just installed Fedora 12 on a P4 IBM. Everything installed fine. Then, I rebooted, installed updates, and installed a few simple programs (emacs, ssh server). I rebooted since some kernel updates had been made. I can't login anymore. I get a brief message at GDM that says "unable to open session" after I enter my password. Root also doesn't work, but I figured out that root logins are disabled. I found something that recommended disabling selinux, so I reboot with selinux=0 parameter. That still didn't fix the problem, but did initiate selinux to re-label everything on the next boot.
My next thought was that maybe my password got corrupted, so I went into single usermode. I ran passwd justin, so I know that my password is correct. I still can't login via GDM or on a tty.
EDIT: I was also thinking I might need to uninstall something that I did; however, networking is disabled in single usermode, and if I init 3, then I get a login prompt that I can't open. Is there a way that I can enable root login? That might be a starting point to see if it's my user account or a general login problem.

I Made a fresh Installation of Fedora 13. It shows VolGroup00 and File System in the Computer on desktop.
The size of the hardisk is 160gb. The file system shows some 4gb. I'm not able to open the Volgroup00. On double clicking it it shoes the error "Unable to mount location"
on entering fdisk -l,
It says the partiton one /dev/sda1 did not end on cylinder boundary.
The partition /dev/sda1 ends on Cylinder 63 and the emaing LVM partition also starts on Cylinder 63.
I tried reinstallling after dropping both the partiotions 4 times, but this is always the case.
