I like text and graphics large so i've used about:config in Firefox to set both the min and max zoom level at 120%, but want to firefox start using these settings. Once opened i can press ctrl and + to jump to 120% zoom and once i'm there my settings make me stay there no matter what. What i want is for Firefox to open at these settings.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter installing a bunch of new updates with the update manager a few problems have popped up regarding the scrolling in firefox with the arrow keys. The first problem is that when I open up a new web page it does not automatically allow me to scroll. I have to first click the web page and then are the arrow keys enabled. The second problem that I have is that when I press the down arrow key to scroll down in the beginning it jumps down to the end of the page. The third and final problem is how it scrolls. For some reason a site in firefox acts like a word document. Instead of be the arrow keys controlling the scroll bar it controlls the little I symbol you see when typing.
It is amazing how annoying it can be when you can't scroll with the arrow keys. If nobody knows how to then I will probably just reinstall firefox. I have also just figured out that page up and down also do not work.
When I go into firefox I loss the menu bar at the top for some reason. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using firefox 3.6.18 in Ubuntu 10.04. My problem is that if I try to save some webpage in postscript or pdf format, I go to file>print>print-to-file option and choose output file as ps or pdf format. Now if I click to print, I do get the corresponding page saved in ps/pdf format but only the first page is printed(i.e., saved in ps/pdf format) this way, leaving major portion(may be eight pages for example) of the corresponding webpage unsaved. (the option: range of printing: all pages is chosen by default.) Why is this happening and what should I do to print the entire page? (one example is the following page which you may try to save in the way I described above: [url]

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn FC11 64 bit with Adobe flash plugin for Linux installed, I see segfault errors from "npviewer" in /var/log/messages. The only browser I have tried yet, Firefox, has glitches every now and then. Sometimes it shows the title of a page in a tab, but the page is blank. This can even happen when I try the Google main page. Is it true that npviewer has something to do with Adobe flash? Is there a way to fix the problem? If it is caused by Adobe flash, is there a different plugin that will replace Adobe flash player?

When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem. Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...
relevant entry in /etc/fstab:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. It got installed and is working o.k. However I am facing one typical issue: When ever I try to open any secured site ( like bill payment sites etc. ) , firefox simply does not open these pages. However at the bottom left it displays -Done.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using ubuntu netbook 10.10 on my Dell Mini 9 for the past few month without any problem; it connects wirelessly to the internet via a wireless router. Yesterday in the middle of web surfing, suddently firefox cannot see any website outside of my home network (Firefox displays Server not found page). No help when I rebooted a few times and connect to my home network via wireless or even wire cable; it can access files in my network file server (DNS-321) but not the internet. My desktop computer running Windows Vista and ASUS media player has no problem accessing the internet.

I've been tasked with transferring a Python web server from a Debian box to a Fedora server for work. (I think) I've been able to transfer all required files but I'm unable to run the web server because whenever I make the HTTPServer call in the python file I get an error "Cannot assign Requested Address".
I've basically traced the issue back to the server being unable to open a socket on the requested port (8085 in this case). I've checked netstat and there are no processes running on that port (or any other one I've tried for that matter) so wondering if there's a system configuration I need to do to allow programs to bind to sockets. Is there a deny configuration set up somewhere I need to modify? Does this even make sense?
I want to set my preferred homepage for the firefox, but the linux version is different from Window version. I could not locate the option tab under the 'tools' in firefox.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIn ubuntu 10.04 LTS I am currently unable to access the location http://192.168.1.1 I have accessed it earlier. This is necessary for modem configuration. I am at a loss why this is inaccessible at present. Can anybody please advise what to do? I am configuring firewall but I doubt if that has anything to do with my problem. Or in case this may be due to faulty firewall configuration, please indicate denial of possible service/program which may cause this. Also ping 192.168.1.1 reports 100% packet loss.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to do a hard shut down on my linux computer. Every since then it is not working properly and I get an invalid certificate on every page.I have never upgraded Debian since I installed it two years ago. With my experience with Gentoo I have found that upgrades can be a problem and it worked fine so I never messed with it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWith the last several updates to Firefox, loading pages from several different sites slows down to (slower than) a crawl - taking sometimes minutes. Most of the time, this occurs loading ads.
I don't remember what release this started with, but I didn't have problems before, and I don't have any problems loading the same web pages on IE8 (running on XP). This is the same on F12 and F11.
I have tried changing some of the securty choices, even tried blocking certain sites, but no luck.
Also, several times after a download, firefox freezes, although the rest of the desktop is okay.
I just upgraded my home machine to 11.2 and am running the regular Firefox 3.6.10 for openSUSE-11.2 (why can I still not cut and paste that infor from the dialog box, grr).
My home page is set to - file:///home/dhoworth/public_html/localstart.html
But when Firefox starts it shows instead a directory listing of - file:///home/dhoworth/
If I then press the home button, it shows my home page. If I start a new window from an existing one, it shows my home page.
why it isn't shown on startup?
On my system Firefox 4 seemed to be taking its sweet time "looking up" addresses, but when it found the page it blazed on the render. I poked around on the net and found a few suggestions to speed up the "look up". So I thought I would share... I aimed for the fewest changes, so not to break too many things or make a big mess. (Warning moving and changing things that you don't know about, in the about:config can goof up Firefox so double check your settings) place about:config in the address bar and hit enter
You should get a really long list of things
In the search bar put
network.dns.disableIPv6
My default value was set to false, go ahead and set it to true. Right click and Toggle. Clear out the search bar where network.dns.disableIPv6 was, and put in network.http.pipelining You should have three listings Right click on network.http.pipelining and Toggle so "true" shows for the value. Next, right click on network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and Modify, a box will pop up, replace the default 4 with 8. Close the about:config
Now test your Forefox performance. These three small changes, made a world of difference for me. Its now comparably fast as chromium. If you disagree with what I did, or want to let me know of any other "safe" speedups let me know. PS. If you don't see any improvements performance-wise or your from the future and do use IPv6, it would be best to go and take these settings back to the default Firefox settings.
When I open 'firefox' from the app panel at the top of the screen, it opens on the last web site visited.
I've looked every place I can think to tell it to open in a blank screen. My preferences are set to blank. Right click on the icon > properties shows 'firefox %u'.
Is there something in 'about:config' that would control this and what do I search for?
When I start firefox the home google page will load and all is well. When I go to any other page (ex. cnn.com, gmail, etc) the page will load graphically, but then continue to load forever. At this point I cannot click on anything in firefox including the drop-down menus.I must force quit at this point.
I updated last night even though I was already using firefox 3.6. I had a problem with flash last time I updated. I reinstalled firefox and went back to firefox 3.5 without any success. This makes me think that the problem is something other than firefox.I am on a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5965 running ubuntu 9.10. I'd give you more information but when I click on system and go down to "About Ubuntu" it loads forever - this is another problem I need to fix. Ugh. I should never have updated
i have lucid lynx and ff 3.6.3.
sometimes the firefox window will become gray and the screen will slide down to the bottom of the webpage. keys and mouse are nonresponsive.
