View 9 Replies View RelatedI've installed 10.10 yesterday on my old HP Pavillion ze2000 as dual boot with windowsXP and the wireless was working normally, I've updated everything it asked to update, rebooted a few times due to some of the updates. Today when I turned it on it was connecting normally to the router, though when I opened mozilla or tried to ping the router IP on the network tools neither have worked. Couldn't open any site on mozilla or ping any ip although it says I'm connected to my wireless router as it would normally. When I open into the XP my firefox there works just fine.

I read in the forums that this could be bcoz of ipv6 and i have disabled it(or so I believe )

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the past week or so I've noticed some weird network behaviour. I find accessing some sites such as Amazon, Paypal, and Bigstockphoto really slow. Sometimes the page will not load at all. Other sites are fine. The problem sites are not a problem for others on my LAN at home. When I try to open the problem sites, I can see in Firestarter blocked connections coming from 2.1(8/9).xxx.xxx on various ports such as 36007. This only happens for the problem sites. I attached a typical output from firestarter.
This happens with Firfeox or Chrome. Using Ubuntu 10.10

I dual boot XP and FC14 and have 2 routers. I can connect and ping one of these routers when I'm in FC and I have an IP address I just can't load any websites. When I connect to the other router (my main router) it works fine. When I boot into XP and connect to the problem router I can load pages fine. It's only when I'm on FC14 and connect to the problem router that I can't load pages even though I have an IP and can ping around.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 9.04 32bit on a dual boot (XP) computer. No internet problems in windows, and I am currently typing this post on my wifes HP laptop running 9.10. I have no browsing ability on the desktop running 9.04, and updates don't work (in details, every other line fails) But, I can bring up Google, and search it, pictures and all, but cannot go to different sites (ebay, hotmail, amazon as the first few i try). Also, my pidgin works fine, as I am talking on it now. I have tried to turn off ipv6 in Firefox and ubuntu, neither doing anything noticeable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to 10.04, Firefox sits showing "looking up" as it takes as much as 1 to 5 minutes to find a site and all the different things to load the site. A few sites just pop up as they should, but many take a long time to ever come up...and it is not the site. Sometimes the same site will load quickly and the next time will take for ever to find.
I have a very fast connection, everything worked fast in the old version and in windows. I have went through all the about:config things to speed up Firefox.
Im having trouble using my wireless usb dongle. I've installed the software and connected to the web, but i can only access a number of websites.
I can access ....., and watch vids and perform searches on google, bing, yahoo and the like. However when i try and access a site that i have searched for it takes me to the internet providers homescreen and tells me to activate my account or top up my account.
I know i have enough GB left as i recently activated my account and i'm able to use the wireless stick on another computer without any problems on all websites. So this leads me to believe that there is maybe a problem with my browser or security settings, but im not sure what to do.
Its a single PC, I can ping my connection but I cant able to browse any sites..These are my outputs.

Pages do not load on certain sites (such as LinkedIn and Which? for example). The sites themselves load but when I click on links the pages load forever. With Which? I can close FF and open it again and then the link loads but after a few clicks they stop loading. It happens on all browsers (at least I tried FF and Chromium) but OK on Windows.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 64-bit machine Ubuntu 9.10, and Firefox 3.5.9 for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100402 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.9) This problem has actually been going on since I started using Ubuntu. Firefox works for most things, but certain sites, many of them are ones you have to log into, but many other sites I log into work just fine. The first one which did not work was bigcharts.com. No login necessary. When I try to get a chart (stock) the page reloads with an error that I have to enter a symbol. On some sites I put in my username and password and the page just seems to reset. These sites work fine with forefox 3.5.9 on Windows Vista, and work with epiphany on Ububtu.

Ive heard so much about linux and while it is great to be back online it is frustrating when certain sites and applications dont work with linux. Why cant linux produce a simple o/s like windows where i can download a file and open it simply without having to type and search.
I dont want to give up on ubuntu but unless i can get freecorder working or the sound recorder to actually record by itself or with audacity and tvu player and andromedanet.com to work hen i will have to, but my question remains- why cant linux be so user friendly to pcnumbnuts like me and others and perform simply and then you would have a real alternative to windows, but until then windows wins all time bye all.
Using 10.4, got the webmin installed and squid. Got my access control list setup.Within the acccess control list setup, I can not go to sites likemethodistmd.org or mollimd.org for whatever reason. But I can go to votekirkland as well as google. Why would webmin and/or squid only work with certain sites within the the defined access control list?

My local server isn't displaying images or proper css for my web pages. The pages display just fine on the webserver, but locally no images show, most of the css declarations aren't there and some of the php includes won't show on the page either. It's as if it's 10% working. All the files are in the right place. I changed directory permissions and tried restarting apache but that didn't help.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI made a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3 last week and everything went well. Everything except the web browsers. Whenever I browsing sites the browser will freeze up. Sometimes if I wait long enough, I'll be back up and running. However, sometimes I have to force quit. I have noticed that in some instances the freezing will be isolated to one tab, while other tab are in fine working condition. what could cause this and how to make it stop? I say Web Browsers because I use Chrome and Firefox and it happens to both of them.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Firefox 3.5.8 on Ubuntu 9.10. It seems it has gone crazy when visiting a site with a broken authentication.
Previously I could see a message warning that there were problems and asking if I wanted to continue understading the risk. Now it seems that this page is broken: I get an XML error saying
Code:
Errore interpretazione XML: entit non definita

not blocking sites
Code:
dbhome /var/lib/squidguard/db
logdir /var/log/squid
dest block {
domainlist block/domains
[Code]....
under db I created a directory block where I created a domain file and a urls file dosen't seem to be working
Whenever I exit certain sites, a prompt opens saying something along the lines of "Wait! You're gonna miss out on a crazy deal! .....!" And you have to press Ok to exit page or press Cancel to stay on site. On Chrome this doesn't show up. What addon will get rid of this. I'm hoping you guys are the firefox experts I think you are.
