I configure named and stumble upon the following problem: named is serious about user rights, every config file named uses should be named:named. I set rights to named:named as follows, but they get changed to root:named when I restart named as root. The same thing happens with SELinux context. This results in access denied type errors.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have set up RHEL 5 file server with Winbind and samba services running.I am able to assign and authenticate windows XP users against my RHEL 5 server.No issues.But one or two of my users are using Windows 7 Ultimate edition and they are not able to access my network samba shares.I can view the shares in windows 7 box but trying to access gives me "network access denied error".But i can access the same share in Windows xp machine for the above tested users.Working great but not in windows 7 box.I haven't tested with Vista OS yet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't think it has anything to do with the config file. More to do with SElinux. I need to know how to configure SElinux so I can see my samba share when SELinux is on. When I setenforce 0 I can seen all the files and folders set it to setenforce 1 cannot see anything.
Here is the output when I ran [root@fileserver /]# getsebool -a | grep smb
allow_smbd_anon_write --> on
smbd_disable_trans --> on
These two options were off I tried turning them on.
This is another one of the commands I tried running. I did change a few options but I am not sure which I do need to change. I am running a stand alone server so I don't need the DC option.

samba_domain_controller --> off
samba_enable_home_dirs --> off
samba_export_all_ro --> on

How to do this settings right to work fine, the ip are assigned by dhcp I don't use any static ip .When I try to browse the internet from the other computers some site's like {.com ; .org ; .info} are block, other site from {.ro} are working. Someone tell me something about turn off all my filters, but I don't know where to find this filter to turn it off. And when I use samba I can't have and internet access or vice versa. I have a shared directory on another machine but I can't get it to mount as a samba share. The permission denied doesn't say where/which permission is denied. Is it on the remote on on the local machine? The remote has sharing enabled for the shareddocs directory and after I have mkdir'ed the local mount point I open it's permissions too. The verbose response from mount.cfis looks like this:

I'm trying to setup ssh access on my Fedora 12 laptop. I get the following error message in /var/log/secure when I try to login from another machine using ssh and the login is denied:

I've been running a Samba server under RedHat 8 for five years without a hiccup. I want to cut over to a F10 box but cannot get shares accessible. smbclient attempts fail over NT password error. SELinux is disabled. Server is visible on the network. Users require no password access to shared data.

Detailed Description: SELinux permission checks on files labeled default_t are being denied. These files/directories have the default label on them. This can indicate a labeling problem, especially if the files being referred to are not top level directories. Any files/directories under standard system directories, /usr, /var. /dev, /tmp, ..., should not be labeled with the default label. The default label is for files/directories which do not have a label on a parent directory. So if you create a new directory in / you might legitimately get this label.

eth0 is connected to a router, which provides Internet access. It is assigned an IP 192.168.1.2 by the router. I manually configured eth1 to have an IP address 192.168.5.1. It is connected to a switch. Systems having IP addresses 192.168.5.x are connected to this switch. I ran these two commands for NAT:
