Fedora :: Moving Toolbar Taskbar?

Feb 3, 2011

I'm a recent convert from Ubuntu (my company uses Juniper VPN and FedoraRHEL is the only certified OS for the client) and I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find the answer to.I installed Fedora 14 and have dual monitors running on a GeForce 8500 GT with one DVI and one VGA connection. VGA is the left monitor, DVI is on the right. After install, Fedora was defaulting to the DVI (right) monitor as the primary, so I used the Monitors utility to rearrange them so they went left to right. I even selected the left (VGA) monitor as the primary. I was hoping that the top and bottom bars would follow. My issue is that both the launch bar on the top, and the task bar on the bottom are still on the right-hand screen, and I can't for the life of me figure out how in the heck to get them both over to the left-hand screen. Am I missing something horribly obvious?

Ubuntu :: Locked Toolbar - New Position For The Toolbar That Sits At The Top Of The Screen

Mar 30, 2011

I have been working for the last three months with Ubuntu 10 on a destop. Doing just fine and loving it. I decided to try a new position for the toolbar that sits at the top of the screen. I did a right click and moved it to the right side of the scree, didn't like the look of that. Right click on the bar and moved it to the left, didn't like that either, so moved it to the bottom. having done all that I thought I could put it back at the top but alas, I can not right click on the Toolbar.

It seems as though the two bars are fighting each other at the bottom of the screen.I would like to go back to the default position at the top of the screen. I do have a terminal window available to me on the desktop so if I could find out the command line to type in, I should be able to reset my tool bar. Being new I have no idea what this command would be.

Fedora :: Open Office 3.2 In 12 - Font Toolbar ?

Apr 10, 2010

I have installed Open Office 3.2 on My SYSTEM. However, I think its look is some ugly, specialy its scrollbars, combo boxes to select fonst and size.

The previous version (3.1) looks much better. I think that version (3.1) is integrated with the system theme.

In the 3.2 version, the toolbar look is great... the problem starts in the font toolbar, continues with its scrollbars (seems ms w 95)

Is there any installation process to integrate OoO 3.2 perfectly with Fedora 12? (like OoO 3.2 and Ubuntu 9.10)

Fedora :: Putting Custom Xterms On Toolbar?

Nov 19, 2010

I switched to fedora to learn. I also purchased several vps (virtual private servers) so I could hack away and not destroy my pc. well I would like to do the following...let me call one server A and the other server B

Put to terminals on my top panel. when I click on A I will automatically via ssh be taken to the server A online and when I click on B (the second xterm icon) I would like to be taken to vps B. Ideally I would also like to bypass my password and just go in a root to both as again these are just things I got to learn on.. I don't know where to start but it sure seems like something that would be possible. Of course I don't care if I am clicking on the terminal icon or a program that just launches the appropriate terminal..

I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling but nothing provides the toolbar I need. Yum does not provide anything new either. Fedora :: Does FC11's KDE 4.2 Replace The FC10 KDE Taskbar

Jun 15, 2009

Once of the biggest issues I had with FC10's KDE desktop was its taskbar widget and how it worked. It did not group tasks, didn't stack vertically, etc. etc. I understand this was due to KDE 4.1 which was a or is considered a "broken" KDE release? I've read that many ppl say KDE 4.2 is much better in FC11. Many FC11 reviewers state they like its KDE version better than 4.1 shipped with FC10.

However, has the KDE taskbar widget specifically been replaced or upgraded? Anyway, I'm considering an upgrade, and I'm willing to do it JUST to get another taskbar in KDE... if the 4.2 one is an improvement. Fondest wish is for it to be exactly like the KDE 3.5 taskbar widget from FC6!

Fedora :: KDE Taskbar Displays All Open Applications / Not Just Current Desktop

Jun 14, 2010

I have been searching and searching for the way to make the taskbar just display the applications that are currently open on the current desktop. It's maddening to click thinking you'll pull up the terminal that's hiding beneath the browser and be whisked away to a different desktop.I'm running KDE 4.4.3 and FC13. I know there's got to be a simple option to have the taskbar only show what's there...I've changed it before in other distros and just can't seem to find a clear, obvious option for that this time around.

Fedora :: Changed Resolution, Lost Taskbar, And Text Nearly Unreadable?

Apr 18, 2011

I am running Fedora 14 with the Gnome. The screen size defaulted to 1680 x 1240 mething like that. This was rather small for me so I went to the task bar and clicked on system.ound the app to change the resolution. I chose 1280 x 720. Now, I no longer have the task bar and the text is nearly unreadable.Without the task bar, I cannot find a way to go back to the original size. I also have not had any success finding any way to make the text look better. I tried changing the font and size but that did not have any beneficial affect. Can anyone tell me what will correct the situation?I found another post that mentioned Alt F2 and gnome-display-properties. That let me get back to nearly what I originally had; everything looks good at 1680 x 1050 but the fonts are not quite the same. However, I still have the need to reduce the resolution of the display and maintain readable text and the task bar.

Fedora :: Moving /usr To A New Partition

Jul 31, 2011

I'm running Fedora 14 as a KVM guest on a CentOS host. I decided to give preupgrade-cli a shot to get Fedora 15.

After reboot, I got a not enough free space error, so I decided to add another virtual drive and move /usr to it.

The partition on the new drive is ext4 formatted (just like my / partition)

Code:

Then I mounted the new partition on /newusr, and copied the files using cp and rsync

Code:

Code:

I also tried rsync without the HAX options, same results.

I then changed my /etc/fstab to reflect the new /usr

Code:

Then I reboot and watch the booting process, it fails first at loading NetworkManager, then elsewhere, and system stops. Of course I could revert back using a live CD and try all the other options, but nothing works for me.

There is an error in /var/log/boot.log, but I don't think it is related, as it shows when booting normally as well.

Code:

Fedora :: Moving System To Another Harddisc?

Jan 18, 2010

i have an fedora system, with no separate /boot partition. there is only one big / partition. I think this is the reason that preupgrade does not work. So I decided to build an own /boot partition. Could anyone give me a hint how I could do this easily? My idea is:

get a second hard disc and format this with 2 partitions (/boot and /)dd the partition1 to the new one.

is this a nice idea? my only problem is that my second hard disc is smaller then the current one. but the current one is not filled up total. but I can not dd to a smaller partition or? is it possible to boot with an live-cd an copy the partition with the cp command?
