Has anyone experienced something funny with the taskbar after a preupgrade from F13 to F14? The applications in the taskbar are not clickable but rather you have to alt-tab through to select an application?

I'm a recent convert from Ubuntu (my company uses Juniper VPN and FedoraRHEL is the only certified OS for the client) and I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find the answer to.I installed Fedora 14 and have dual monitors running on a GeForce 8500 GT with one DVI and one VGA connection. VGA is the left monitor, DVI is on the right. After install, Fedora was defaulting to the DVI (right) monitor as the primary, so I used the Monitors utility to rearrange them so they went left to right. I even selected the left (VGA) monitor as the primary. I was hoping that the top and bottom bars would follow.My issue is that both the launch bar on the top, and the task bar on the bottom are still on the right-hand screen, and I can't for the life of me figure out how in the heck to get them both over to the left-hand screen. Am I missing something horribly obvious?

VMware tools may be completely installed.I can drag & drop files from my Win7 host.
But when I press ctrl+alt+enter to make it fullscreen in VM,I get a half size taskbar.How to fix it?
Since I upgraded from F13 to F14, I no longer get thumbnails of windows when hovering the mouse above the taskbar entry. I have all the appropriate optionsjust no thumbnails.Anyone else experience this? I can't find any similar issues in this forum or Google.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOnce of the biggest issues I had with FC10's KDE desktop was its taskbar widget and how it worked. It did not group tasks, didn't stack vertically, etc. etc. I understand this was due to KDE 4.1 which was a or is considered a "broken" KDE release? I've read that many ppl say KDE 4.2 is much better in FC11. Many FC11 reviewers state they like its KDE version better than 4.1 shipped with FC10.
However, has the KDE taskbar widget specifically been replaced or upgraded? Anyway, I'm considering an upgrade, and I'm willing to do it JUST to get another taskbar in KDE... if the 4.2 one is an improvement. Fondest wish is for it to be exactly like the KDE 3.5 taskbar widget from FC6!
I have been searching and searching for the way to make the taskbar just display the applications that are currently open on the current desktop. It's maddening to click thinking you'll pull up the terminal that's hiding beneath the browser and be whisked away to a different desktop.I'm running KDE 4.4.3 and FC13. I know there's got to be a simple option to have the taskbar only show what's there...I've changed it before in other distros and just can't seem to find a clear, obvious option for that this time around.

The screen size defaulted to 1680 x 1240 mething like that.This was rather small for me so I went to the task bar and clicked on system.ound the app to change the resolution. I chose 1280 x 720. Now, I no longer have the task bar and the text is nearly unreadable.Without the task bar, I cannot find a way to go back to the original size. I also have not had any success finding any way to make the text look better. I tried changing the font and size but that did not have any beneficial affect. Can anyone tell me what will correct the situation?I found another post that mentioned Alt F2 and gnome-display-properties. That let me get back to nearly what I originally had; everything looks good at 1680 x 1050 but the fonts are not quite the same. However, I still have the need to reduce the resolution of the display and maintain readable text and the task bar.

There is no indication of what action I'm supposed to take, so the message is not useful. It also seems to violate a basic principle that any program producing an error message should announce its own name.

I recently upgraded to 11.04 from 10.10.trouble (not showing titlebars after I had trie to enable the "desktop cube" feature) so I decided the best plan of action was to get rid of Compiz. That turned out to be a mistake. Now I have no launcher or taskbar, and since I'm somewhat, well, inept at this so far I have no idea how to get my desktop back in working order.e managed to install compiz and emerald once again, but I can't get to the startup application editor to make it run automatically. I am working on RHEL 4.0 on client machines. I dont want my users to modify the taskbar and the contents on it. Many of the users are deleting the options on the task bar. How can I lock the taskbar and items on the task bar? ( I know the right click option, which gives the move,remove and lock options, which anybody can modify)

View 7 Replies View RelatedI make use of the clipboard manager a lot, and have just replaced Clipman with ClipIt on my Debian 8 (Xfce) host. I also have a Debian 8 (and 7) VM with Xfce, but without xfce4-panel, so no taskbar. Is there a way to make use of a clipboard manager with no panel/taskbar? I have ClipIt installed on the 8 VM, but do not have obvious access to it. It's the last hurdle to eliminating the taskbar/panel for me...... meaning eliminating the taskbar, yet keeping all the functionality.
I started using Xfce without xfce4-panel, when I decided that Openbox was a little too spartan for me...... at least without spending a lot of time to customize it, which I probably will do eventually, but for now, I am staying with Xfce.
I am hitting a wall here - with the new 4.4 installed and working well, the one thing that is killing me is not being able to read the active taskbar item or the plasma peanut menu (see screenshot. You can see that the firefox and gimp are "active" and too dark to read, while kwrite is inactive and readable.They are BOTH too dark, and I cannot seem to find the option that controls those color elements.

View 4 Replies View Related(It just quietly fails so I'm left wondering like in Windoze "is it hanging?") On the taskbar, next to my computer icon I inserted a drawer. I was hoping to put in my Favorite Applications (wine apps don't seem to get inputed to opensuse's recent list.
What I've tried is: (all to no avail, also note: I've been inputing this in Add To Drawer- Custom Application Launcher.) Also, note the directory location is valid as well, it's how I did it in my windoze installation.

Often I open FireFox, get information, which I want to save in an OpenOffice Writer or Calc file.So I go to the left lower corner on the screen, tap on Computer, and then on OpenOffice Writer.When the OpenOffice window has opened, I do not see, as I used to do, the FireFox button on the taskbar (or panel), I have to drag the OpenOffice window, so I can access my FireFox window. When I do that, the OO window bounces, which makes me feel rather sea-sick.Is there a way to have the button for the open applications visible on the task bar (or panel) so that I can go immediately to the other open application ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had some problems which were were already as bugs on which kde4.4.4 crashed and since than I lost this functionality. I cannot say if I have any apps running if they were all minimized as they don't appear on the taskbar. I can switch through them via Alt-Tab.
