Fedora :: Kmail Keeps Downloading ALL Messages From The Server?

Since yesterday Kmail has started downloading ALL ,messages, not just the new ones, from the server. It is a real pain as the mail check takes about twenty minutes and Kmail usually freezes afterwards. Then I have to close it down and after restart it downloads several thousand messages all over again. This has only started happening since yesterdays Fedora update, which I think was anything to do with Kmail?
I am using Fedora 14.
EDIT: I have just notice it is not downloading ALL messages, just the read ones. The new messages are being left on the server but the old ones are downloaded and flagged as new. So it seems as if something has got flipped around somewhere?

I need to ask you how canIi make some fetchmail jobs to download mails from my gmail account into my mail account in my own server? My server is :
Linux Centos 5.4
Postfix Mail Server
I make a file named .fetchmailrc in my home directory and set its permissions to 755and the content of this file is:
set postmaster "postmaster"
set bouncemail
set no spambounce
set properties ""
poll imap.googlemail.com:993 protocol imap username "username@gmail.com" password "password"
I think something is not completed, I need to make that fetch to a specific user only, not all users.

I have around 6 email accounts for business & private use that I retrieve and send via pop/smtp with Kmail (Version 1.11.4). But it seems that all my outgoing mail is only sent via one account (say first@gmail.com) even if I select another account for the outgoing I.D field and FROM field. When I look in the sent folder the headers shows the correct sent from account but my recipients headers show they were all sent from first@gmail.com! Ebay keeps bouncing my emails back too as a result saying the email is not registered. It used to work just fine so not sure what is happening. I have tried reinstalling Kmail/kdepim-4.2.4-x86_64-1.txz deleted all the accounts and recreated them but the problem persists.

(Ubuntu LTS 10.4) I have multiple mail accounts on Thunderbird (TB). All worked fine with no issues whatsoever. A few months ago it suddenly started giving me this alert message related to my yahoo.fr pop3 account

Obviously I checked if these settings were somehow changed. They weren't. It should leave messages on the server indeed, but I don't use no max message size or fetch headers only options. The original settings are what they used to be and how they have always worked.
The thing is: everything works normal if I start up TB. It downloads the messages, puts them in the folders where I want them to come etc... The problem seems to appear after a while (mostly a few hours, or overnight). It just stops downloading the messages from my yahoo.fr account. When I click the Get Mail for my yahoo account the above alert message pops up.
There is only one solution really. Close TB and restart it after which all works fine again.
It might be that the problem is related to another issue reported as bug # 689453 in launchpad that started around the same time (a few months ago). That bug forces me to have to end the process through the System Monitor where Thunderbird-bin uses almost 100% of the CPU and doesn't shut down.
Obviously it doesn't avoid me from using TB, but it starts to work on my nerves to have to close down TB (sometimes through the End Process in system monitor) and then restart it so frequently.

I installed openSUSE on one of the spare computers in work to test it out before I install it on my own laptop. I tried connecting Kmail to MS exchange and did so successfully using POP 3 but never checked the box saying leave messages on the server and it removed the emails from the server. Now I have nothing in my Outlook Inbox on my XP machine. how I can restore the emails from Kmail to the server.

I have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

I'm trying to run kmail on Slackware -Current. Kmail starts then akonadi server runs checks.

No email attachments open in KMAIL. "SAVE TO" and then running the application is required. It would be nice just to "OPEN" or just to "OPEN WITH", but neither work. There are no error messages in the log or in KDE that I can tell. This is a weird environment. KDE was initially chosen for its simplicity, but when they went "fancy" I moved to Gnome as it appeared simpler. Perhaps all the necessary KDE packages are not loaded. This is a new system with a clean install of FC12. Is it not kosher to run kmail inside gdm? Yesterday I tried to use KMail with my hotmail account. First mistake I made was not to check "Leave fetched messages on the server". The obvious result of that was that I had empty hotmail (web) account. I've found this but its for Thunderbird to upload your messages back on to the server. If I can put all my messages back into hotmail server that would be great. Since I do use web account as well. KMail is only on my home PC.

I am running Fedora 10, Postfix and Dovecot I recently changed the password of a user using the 'passwd' command. The problem is that the user can no longer receive their email messages in Thunderbird (Authentication Error). However, they can still login using SquirrelMail and get their mail.

Here's a good one. Using KMail when I open a new message and click on 'Select' it doesn't seem to be giving me all of my contacts from KAddresbook. Just ones I have sent mail to. That's under the all contacts tab. If I try to select default address book it shows nothing.

I've got a server set up with Debian. The problem is that my ISP doesn't allow usage of port 25 (as I understand a lot of ISP's don't).I have PHP scripts hat use the mail() function to send e-mails through the Sendmail application.So, my question is: How can I relay messages sent to sendmail to an external SMTP server (like Google Mail, for example)? Would this be easier to do in the PHP configuration, or on the Sendmail side of things?I've used PEAR extensions in PHP to achieve this before, but scripts downloaded from the Internet generally just use the basic mail() function, and it would be a real pain to modify them all.

Trying to set up my Yahoo account on KMail. After entering all the correct (as far as I know) server settings, ports, etc. and trying to check my mail from KMail, I get the following message.
Could not login to pop.mail.yahoo.com. The password may be wrong.
The server said: "[SYS/PERM] pop not allowed for user."
The password is definitely right. What is going on?

I have a syslog-ng running and kernel build of 2.6.34.8 I use a syslog API in my program with facility LOG_LOCAL5 and and levels debug err and crit and info. when I ran on the older syslog facility I had everything logged fine as I intended. now I have written these rules into the syslog-ng.conf:

the last two rules show my program gnssapp. the result is all debug levels or crit or err levels I don't see any of them !

All I get is some irrelevant file that has nothing common with phpMyAdmin-3.3.9-all-languages.tar.bz2.The direct link is for clients with web browsers that triger automatic download to user desktop, but I need to download the package to a server. When I download fast and much my server freeze however if I don't download anything the server can run for weeks without problems but as soon I start downloading fast it doesn't take long until the server freeze again, I mean totally frozen so I have to manually power it down and then turn it on again. This started happening recently I think it started happening after I updated to 9.10 it have always worked perfectly before. Is there anyway to fix this? If not is there a way to downgrade back to 9.04 or 8.10 where everything were working fine?

I have an Ubuntu 9.10 server set up at my house. I have Apache2 and PHP5 installed on it. Every time I go to the server on a web page and try to load the PHP index page it downloads instead of displaying.
I have virtual servers set up and have the files stored at /home/cusinndzl. If anyone needs to take a look I can let them into the webmin panel.

I am running RHEL EL4. i have configured vsftp , everything works fine.The thing is that the FTP log messages are going into /var/log/messages . So i changed the log location by confuguring as follows
1. In the /etc/syslog.cong,
2.Change the line in /etc/logrotate.d/syslog
3. In /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf
After the changes , i restarted the service for both ftp and syslog
Evenafter the above confguration , still the ftp log messages are going to the same dir /var/log/messages.

It's not listed in the list of servers and I want to know how I can add it or use it(because downloads from there don't count towards my download allowance).
