Jul 20, 2010Having issue here with Gmail and Kmail. Sending is cool, receiving is stuck. Is anybody using 993 port for receive? That's what I am trying and it's not working.

Apr 17, 2010I have been using kmail on opensuse (11.2) for about 3 months with few issues. I usually launch using alt+F2, type "kma" and it appears top of the list. I have turned on my laptop today and kmail has simply disappeared. I have gone through the ghekko and the only mail client listed is thunderbird. It is not in the alt+F2 menu. If I type kmail in konsole I get the "if kmail is not a typo" speech. I've also tried using kontact (for the first time) to see if my mail appears there

Jul 27, 2010use any browser and go to gmail. i can't get gmail to load. if i browse on videos, links to videos don't work. they appear to be taking a long time to buffer, then a message appears saying to try again. sometimes, links on google search pages are all dead. yahoo mail loads as far as logging me in, then i get a page with all dead links.
i'm using a laptop at several locations that have free public wifi. at some places, everything works perfectly normally. at other places, google and yahoo are almost useless. the "bad" places work just fine under ms windows.
so i figure it's a networking/handshaking issue, but that's all i can figure. i need help to troubleshoot it further. if it's happening to me, it has to be happening to other people, and i consider it a major hassle.

Nov 8, 2010My college internet providers shifted to a different setting.. defined in the changing lan proxy settings on the user end. I.e.ip - 192.168.0.200 and port to 3000. This to reduce misuse of the net connection ..The thing is, since then, every other website is working, except GMail. It isnt blocked, the Nebero page shows up for blocked sites. When attempting to open gmail, the default internet page shows up for unavailability of page owing to no or slow response from the server, or the firewall or proxy settings not appropriately configured. I cannot open gmail, the connection on empathy im. I cant ping gmail either. No response. What can be the problem.

Nov 22, 2009No email attachments open in KMAIL. "SAVE TO" and then running the application is required. It would be nice just to "OPEN" or just to "OPEN WITH", but neither work. There are no error messages in the log or in KDE that I can tell. This is a weird environment. KDE was initially chosen for its simplicity, but when they went "fancy" I moved to Gnome as it appeared simpler. Perhaps all the necessary KDE packages are not loaded. Mar 24, 2011Since yesterday Kmail has started downloading ALL ,messages, not just the new ones, from the server. It is a real pain as the mail check takes about twenty minutes and Kmail usually freezes afterwards. Then I have to close it down and after restart it downloads several thousand messages all over again. This has only started happening since yesterdays Fedora update, which I think was anything to do with Kmail?
I am using Fedora 14.
EDIT: I have just notice it is not downloading ALL messages, just the read ones. The new messages are being left on the server but the old ones are downloaded and flagged as new. So it seems as if something has got flipped around somewhere?

May 17, 2011Yesterday I tried to use KMail with my hotmail account. First mistake I made was not to check "Leave fetched messages on the server". The obvious result of that was that I had empty hotmail (web) account. I've found this but its for Thunderbird to upload your messages back on to the server. If I can put all my messages back into hotmail server that would be great. Since I do use web account as well. KMail is only on my home PC.

Apr 6, 2010i am running ncat (netcat's new version from nmap) on centos . I am listening on different ports. My question is , is it possible that when a connection is received on a port say 123, i redirect this connection to a different port and use the 123 port again for listening connections. ncat has an option -k which u can add with -l , it will force fully listen on the port. It can accept multiple connections on a single port but i want that once a client connects on to 123 port, he is forwarded to some other port and no longer on 123.

The server said: "[SYS/PERM] pop not allowed for user."
The password is definitely right. What is going on?

This is great news :-) But the sad part is that the plugin has been released only for Ubuntu and Debian based systems! So the thing is we have a .deb. Is there a way we could get the .rpm for installation? I tried using alien but sad enough, the generation of the rpm file fails for no reason what soever.

Fedora :: Can't Send Emails To Gmail Accounts
Aug 25, 2010I have evolution set up to send emails using gmail's smtp server. I've always been able to do it with no problems, but a couple of days ago I stopped being able to send emails to gmail accounts. I can send emails to other addresses but not gmail. The same happens with my wife's laptop with ubuntu. The only thing I can think of is that we recently moved and thus changed ISP, but I don't see how that's preventing us to send mails specifically to gmail accounts...

Is there a way I can download them to my hard drive without doing it one email at a time with the browser's Save Page As feature or some such thing? There has to (?) be a better way.
Every mail program should have an easy-to-use 'mass' export-to-text-file feature so that people are not held hostage to a particular email service or program. The lack of such a feature in email programs I've used is one of my pet peeves. It seems rather tyrannical and abusive. (Now before someone tells me it's a free service, please remember all the advertisements I have to go through to use the service). I do not have an email account through an ISP. I live with my landlord who deals with the ISP. I only use hotmail and gmail (and, rarely, yahoo).

My mail works properly for all users, but the problem I'm having is that when I create an alias for user's email to be forwarded to their gmail, the ISP bounces the mail. My ISP has given me an open relay to send mail.Is there somewhere in sendmail that I could put the user name and password of the ISP, so that the ISP will not bounce the forwarded mail. Or is there something that I'm missing?
