Slackware :: KMail Sending Messages From Wrong Account
Sep 22, 2010
I have around 6 email accounts for business & private use that I retrieve and send via pop/smtp with Kmail (Version 1.11.4). But it seems that all my outgoing mail is only sent via one account (say first@gmail.com) even if I select another account for the outgoing I.D field and FROM field. When I look in the sent folder the headers shows the correct sent from account but my recipients headers show they were all sent from first@gmail.com! Ebay keeps bouncing my emails back too as a result saying the email is not registered. It used to work just fine so not sure what is happening. I have tried reinstalling Kmail/kdepim-4.2.4-x86_64-1.txz deleted all the accounts and recreated them but the problem persists.
Trying to set up my Yahoo account on KMail. After entering all the correct (as far as I know) server settings, ports, etc. and trying to check my mail from KMail, I get the following message.
Could not login to pop.mail.yahoo.com. The password may be wrong. The server said: "[SYS/PERM] pop not allowed for user."
The password is definitely right. What is going on?
Kernel 2.6.21.5, GNU (Slackware 12.0). KDE 3.5.7. KMail 1.9.7
In the x.org home page, there is a link 'the xorg mailing list'. If I click on this link, then the KMail Account Wizard (window subtitle New account setup) opens and I am compelled to create a new account. But I already have one, and I send and receive mail with this account. Can it be that this behavior is induced by x.org? I don't feel like opening a second account.
how to make KMail download all messages, new and old?
I have an email client on my android phone as well as KMail on this computer. Its important for me to be able to see all my old messages for reference.
I want to ask about Kmail. I have Kmail from Mandriva. I use Kmail for My Email. And When I reply Message, I found some trouble.
Sending failed: Unknown error code 50. The message content was not accepted. The server responded: "5.7.1 Message refused by BannedWord check. This email has been rejected. The email message was detected as spam." Please send a full bug report at [URL]. The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder. This transport protocol was used: smtp.net
How to solve this email error I get when I try to send email via KMail.
Since yesterday Kmail has started downloading ALL ,messages, not just the new ones, from the server. It is a real pain as the mail check takes about twenty minutes and Kmail usually freezes afterwards. Then I have to close it down and after restart it downloads several thousand messages all over again. This has only started happening since yesterdays Fedora update, which I think was anything to do with Kmail?
I am using Fedora 14.
EDIT: I have just notice it is not downloading ALL messages, just the read ones. The new messages are being left on the server but the old ones are downloaded and flagged as new. So it seems as if something has got flipped around somewhere?
Yesterday I tried to use KMail with my hotmail account. First mistake I made was not to check "Leave fetched messages on the server". The obvious result of that was that I had empty hotmail (web) account. I've found this but its for Thunderbird to upload your messages back on to the server. If I can put all my messages back into hotmail server that would be great. Since I do use web account as well. KMail is only on my home PC.
How do I get kmail to send an email to back to the same account I am using it from? For example - if I am using kmail for the account me@email.net and I have something from an irc chat or IM I need to keep for future reference (instructions for something, contact info for someone, etc.) I open a new blank email in kmail, address it to myself, copy in the info and hit send, but the message never arrives. I have previously used this method with Thunderbird and Evolution and it works in both of them just fine but does not ever work in kmail.
I have a laptop (running Fedora 10 KDE version) and a desktop (running Ubuntu 7.10) on my home network. Is there any way to send messages from one computer to another through LAN ?
I have two accnts in Thunderbird 3.1.10 in Lucid 64bit - gmail and itt-tech.edu (smtp.live.com). I removed apparmor because of the bug not allowing the file system to be mounted. I can send via gmail, not smtp.live.com. Smtp settings are correct. Any security package setting that might be hindering this mail send action?I have UFW installed.
I am doing a university course and am struggling to find a method of sending 1 message down route A and then the next message to the same destination via route B, alternating between the two with each new message sent.I am going to use a Linux computer with two Ethernet cards connected to two different networks via a routers and then to the destination host via a switch.
i am using centos 5.4 (5.5?) gnome on multiple machines in a local network.is there a program available that does the following:you type a message in a 'note'screen on one computer and can send it to one (to choose) or all machines in the local network that are online, so you can read the message on these other machines screens.
I've imported a vcard addressbook in kontact. When I create a new mail and start typing something in the "to" input field, no contacts are automatically added. When I click the "select" button, nothing is found, except for the recently added email addresses. Nothing from my imported addressbook though.
This also didn't work in opensuse 11.3 KDE. Am I doing something wrong here?
In the firewall, I opened port 5900 for TCP traffic. Now the console is displaying packet information whenever a connection is made. Why does it send a message to stdout/stderr for an allowed connection? How can I stop it? Logging level is set to critical only, and not-accepted packets should only be logged for the internal and DMZ zones.
Can I make my messages directly appear at client from server? Normally we type tailf /var/log/messages to see messages sent by other machine. So can I send my messages directly at command prompt?
I wanted to try out new Ubuntu 11 and while doing it I managed to connect to facebook, twitter, all my chat accounts and MY EMAIL via Evolution. Everything went well until I restarted and went back to my lovely Karmic to log in into the email account and find all messages GONE!
Where apart from ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail does kmail keep account data, such as login data/names of pop/smtp servers? I wanted to install an entirely clean version of kmail, so I uninstalled/re-installed kmail via YAST. I manually deleted ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail. After installing kmail I found that the account data of my Yahoo account were still listed in the kmail configuration panel. Shall I delete the Yahoo account within kmail prior to uninstalling the kmail package?
I have set up evolution with two POP account and it deleted all my mails from the servers, migrating them on the local machine.
How could I forward all the messages from Evolution to a mail account so I can access them over the Internet?
Forwarding all of them as attachment doesn't, because many of the emails themselves have attachment and it gives an error saying attachment type not supported.
If I try forwarding inline or quoted I have to forward them one by one and there are around 4000.
I need to ask you how canIi make some fetchmail jobs to download mails from my gmail account into my mail account in my own server? My server is : Linux Centos 5.4 Postfix Mail Server
I make a file named .fetchmailrc in my home directory and set its permissions to 755and the content of this file is:
set postmaster "postmaster" set bouncemail set no spambounce set properties "" poll imap.googlemail.com:993 protocol imap username "username@gmail.com" password "password"
I think something is not completed, I need to make that fetch to a specific user only, not all users.
Installed 6.01a from DVD 1 on a system with 4GB ram. Installer installed amd64 version by default. When I try to install amd64.deb files I get "wrong architecture" error messages from the package manager. root@Laptop-RalphDeb:/home/ralphq# uname -r 2.6.32-5-amd64 root@Laptop-RalphDeb:/home/ralphq# uname -p unknown Why I can install amd64 programs and why I get unknown for the uname -p command?
I use kmail for fetching and sending mails from my gmail account. The inbox stuffs are saved in ~/.kde/share/ apps/kmail/mail/inbox . It is not saved in encrypted form. One can open it with any editor. Is there a way to make kmail save those fetched messages in encrypted form and when I open the kmail it will show me those mails in decrypted form?
(Ubuntu LTS 10.4) I have multiple mail accounts on Thunderbird (TB). All worked fine with no issues whatsoever. A few months ago it suddenly started giving me this alert message related to my yahoo.fr pop3 account
Quote:
The POP3 mail server (pop.mail.yahoo.fr) does not support UIDL or XTND XLST, which are required to implement the ``Leave on Server'', ``Maximum Message Size'' or ``Fetch Headers Only'' options. To download your mail, turn off these options in the Server Settings for your mail server in the Account Settings window.
Obviously I checked if these settings were somehow changed. They weren't. It should leave messages on the server indeed, but I don't use no max message size or fetch headers only options. The original settings are what they used to be and how they have always worked.
The thing is: everything works normal if I start up TB. It downloads the messages, puts them in the folders where I want them to come etc... The problem seems to appear after a while (mostly a few hours, or overnight). It just stops downloading the messages from my yahoo.fr account. When I click the Get Mail for my yahoo account the above alert message pops up.
There is only one solution really. Close TB and restart it after which all works fine again.
It might be that the problem is related to another issue reported as bug # 689453 in launchpad that started around the same time (a few months ago). That bug forces me to have to end the process through the System Monitor where Thunderbird-bin uses almost 100% of the CPU and doesn't shut down.
Obviously it doesn't avoid me from using TB, but it starts to work on my nerves to have to close down TB (sometimes through the End Process in system monitor) and then restart it so frequently.
I am trying to figure out how if it is even possible to set up my centos server to email messages to gmail account I have tried mail -S Test account@gmail.com but every time it say in my log files that Connection refused by [127.0.0.1]
I have just installed Alien Bob's kde 4.4 packages as per his README instructions over a fresh install of current as of 31 Jan.
I can open a kde session but have problems with running kde applications. Non kde applications such as Firefox, Scanlite, Geany, Gopdit open fine but so far kde applications are hit or miss.
I could launch kmail but not others. Kwrite from quicklaunch gave me a "KDEInit could not launch /usr/bin/kwrite in a pop up but konqueror, dolphin, kcalc to name a few just don't launch with a click and leave no error messages.
I have tried running them from XFC's terminal and I get the following:
I've started to get emails that would typically come from [URL] as [URL]. These emails come from services that send out emails (backup programs) directly, or from cronjobs. I've logged in as the non-root account and either sudo su - or su - to root and the restart the service at one point or another. If I login directly as root and bounce the service or cron the emails come across as from root. I don't see anything in my environment variables after I su to indicate what would cause this. I'm not sure where else to look? A pam setting? This seems to have happened between Fedora 10 and 14 (did a bunch of overdue upgrades recently) I've only got Fedora so I don't have anything to compare to. In Fedora 10 I did not have this problem.
I've been running arch linux, with my clock set to UTC with no problem. Recently I installed slackware on a different partition. During the setup I chose to set my clock to 'local time' instead of UTC by accident. Now in slackware my clock shows the wrong time. Also in arch it shows the same wrong time.
I booted back into slackware and ran pkgtool to enter the setup again, and changed my time to UTC. But this makes no difference. My clock is still wrong in both slackware and arch. Do I need to reboot after changing my clock settings in slackware before it takes effect? how the clock or the setup works.
