The problem is sometimes when i open the folder in nautilus , the folder keep loading forever and sometimes it shows two or three files and keep on loading . But at some other times , folder contents are displayed just as any other folder(i.e normal ).

Nov 10, 2010Has anyone experienced something funny with the taskbar after a preupgrade from F13 to F14? The applications in the taskbar are not clickable but rather you have to alt-tab through to select an application?

Jul 7, 2010I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and at first there was the icon for Open office quickstart and the icon for network connection.After some updates those two disappeared but I was able to switch off the computer. I have managed to get those two icons back using 'notification area' but the computer will not shutdown now.

I recently upgraded to 11.04 from 10.10.trouble (not showing titlebars after I had trie to enable the "desktop cube" feature) so I decided the best plan of action was to get rid of Compiz. That turned out to be a mistake. Now I have no launcher or taskbar, and since I'm somewhat, well, inept at this so far I have no idea how to get my desktop back in working order.e managed to install compiz and emerald once again, but I can't get to the startup application editor to make it run automatically. Is there a way to get the default desktop environment handler to kick back in?

How can I lock the taskbar and items on the task bar? ( I know the right click option, which gives the move,remove and lock options, which anybody can modify)

Feb 14, 2016I make use of the clipboard manager a lot, and have just replaced Clipman with ClipIt on my Debian 8 (Xfce) host. I also have a Debian 8 (and 7) VM with Xfce, but without xfce4-panel, so no taskbar. Is there a way to make use of a clipboard manager with no panel/taskbar? I have ClipIt installed on the 8 VM, but do not have obvious access to it. It's the last hurdle to eliminating the taskbar/panel for me...... meaning eliminating the taskbar, yet keeping all the functionality.
I started using Xfce without xfce4-panel, when I decided that Openbox was a little too spartan for me...... at least without spending a lot of time to customize it, which I probably will do eventually, but for now, I am staying with Xfce.

Feb 3, 2011I'm a recent convert from Ubuntu (my company uses Juniper VPN and FedoraRHEL is the only certified OS for the client) and I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find the answer to.I installed Fedora 14 and have dual monitors running on a GeForce 8500 GT with one DVI and one VGA connection. VGA is the left monitor, DVI is on the right. After install, Fedora was defaulting to the DVI (right) monitor as the primary, so I used the Monitors utility to rearrange them so they went left to right. I even selected the left (VGA) monitor as the primary. I was hoping that the top and bottom bars would follow.My issue is that both the launch bar on the top, and the task bar on the bottom are still on the right-hand screen, and I can't for the life of me figure out how in the heck to get them both over to the left-hand screen. Am I missing something horribly obvious?

What I've tried is: (all to no avail, also note: I've been inputing this in Add To Drawer- Custom Application Launcher.) Also, note the directory location is valid as well, it's how I did it in my windoze installation.

Oct 7, 2010Often I open FireFox, get information, which I want to save in an OpenOffice Writer or Calc file.So I go to the left lower corner on the screen, tap on Computer, and then on OpenOffice Writer.When the OpenOffice window has opened, I do not see, as I used to do, the FireFox button on the taskbar (or panel), I have to drag the OpenOffice window, so I can access my FireFox window. When I do that, the OO window bounces, which makes me feel rather sea-sick.Is there a way to have the button for the open applications visible on the task bar (or panel) so that I can go immediately to the other open application ?

Jan 6, 2010I am a new Ubuntu user (three months so far on Karmic amd64, and very happy with my new OS). I had to do a force shutdown after a system freeze (while viewing video on my tv - dual display - with vlc). Upon restart, I noticed the network connection icon missing from the taskbar; there was an empty "slot" between the evolution and sound icons so I figured the network icon was simply not appearing correctly.
I right clicked in that empty "slot" and chose to remove from taskbar with the intention of putting it back. After clicking remove, the taskbar started a cycle of constant disappear and reappear (about one second between each). The cycle is too fast to allow navigating in menus but I can access the terminal. Being new and all, I don't know how to configure the taskbar through the terminal... fix my taskbar in the terminal?
