I am hitting a wall here - with the new 4.4 installed and working well, the one thing that is killing me is not being able to read the active taskbar item or the plasma peanut menu (see screenshot. You can see that the firefox and gimp are "active" and too dark to read, while kwrite is inactive and readable.They are BOTH too dark, and I cannot seem to find the option that controls those color elements.

If I remember correctly there was a utility in KDE to make gnome apps look nice, but can't find anything like that for gnome, can't find kcontrol in safe repos for some reason, maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing
Logouting and loging in again used to help, but not now. It's just half black.

I cannot, for the life of me, get the taskbar to appear at the bottom of my main display (the laptop display).I've tried to add the taskbar, system tray etc, but these appear as widgets on the desktop, rather than along the bottom of the display.

I am not sure if this is the right place for this or not, but I am having a problem getting my HP6300 series all in one printer to print photo's with proper colors, all colors seem to run. I have hplip installed and set up to print photo's and it still prints colors like runs instead of correct.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two problems related to color scheme. First, is there any way to prevent web browsers from using the system's default colors? I use a dark scheme, specifically Obsidian Coast in KDE and Industrial in GTK. This doesn't behave well on web pages in Firefox, Arora, and Konqueror. (Opera is fine.) Sometimes a site's stylesheet will specify a text field's text color to be black, but its background is not specified, so it defaults to black-on-dark-gray. I've also seen such a field's background color specified as white while the text color was not, so it ended up being light-gray-on-white. Is there any way to keep browsers from ruining web pages? Also, even if the stylesheet doesn't specify the colors, the dark text fields and buttons still stick out like a sore thumb on a warm or bright page.
My second problem is this: I have a saved session that brings up my applications every time I log in, but the GTK apps Pidgin and Evolution don't match the GTK color scheme until I quit and start them up again. Is there some way of fixing or working around this problem?
I have a xterm which can have 256 colors. How can I configure the prompt colors and ls output colors to take advantages of the 256 color values?

View 4 Replies View Related(It just quietly fails so I'm left wondering like in Windoze "is it hanging?") On the taskbar, next to my computer icon I inserted a drawer. I was hoping to put in my Favorite Applications (wine apps don't seem to get inputed to opensuse's recent list.
What I've tried is: (all to no avail, also note: I've been inputing this in Add To Drawer- Custom Application Launcher.) Also, note the directory location is valid as well, it's how I did it in my windoze installation.

Often I open FireFox, get information, which I want to save in an OpenOffice Writer or Calc file.So I go to the left lower corner on the screen, tap on Computer, and then on OpenOffice Writer.When the OpenOffice window has opened, I do not see, as I used to do, the FireFox button on the taskbar (or panel), I have to drag the OpenOffice window, so I can access my FireFox window. When I do that, the OO window bounces, which makes me feel rather sea-sick.Is there a way to have the button for the open applications visible on the task bar (or panel) so that I can go immediately to the other open application ?

Logging in to the remote machine using NX or VNC and executing the same apps does not produce the same colors, the apps look fine. View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I just upgraded my laptop from OpenSuSE 11.2 to 11.4. I am using the Gnome Desktop (2.6.37.6-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2011-04-25 21:48:33 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux).
As of right now the "Taskbar" at the bottom of the desktop, does NOT stretch all the way across the bottom (meaning it would start on bottom-left edge and go to the bottom-right edge) of the screen. Right now it is sort of centered at the bottom, and its size changes depending on how many windows are open.
So is there any way to set it to a fixed width (by that I mean I want it to take up the entire bottom of the screen x-amount of pixels high, etc..
I have updated my distro from openSuSE 11.1 to 11.3. Everything works fine exept I have now a black taskbar and black tooltips with black characters on it . I googled a lot but couldn't find an issue.

Lately I had to reboot a couple of times (by way of terminal window) in the hope that it comes up. Now, however, the taskbar/menues do not come up any more.
I'm experiencing a wierd bug. Been having it for some time now. I haven't posted about it before since its only been annoying, but not really setting me back. And I have trouble defining and explaining the bug. Today it crossed the line into actual annoyance.
The bug occurs when I'm writing, using the keyboard on my laptop. Both when I write in browsers, like when writing this post, and when I write in openoffice. So its not limited to one program. In webbrowsers what happens is that all of a sudden the browser loads the previous page in the tab. Like I told it to go one step back. In OpenOffice something similar happens. The curser jumps up in the document.
I used to have this bug when touchpad-tapping was enabled. I have a habit of drumming my thumbs on the touchpad when typing. Therefore I've disabled tapping on the touchpad. The bug is reocurring, however I have not found a way to reproduce it. It might be a key combination I accidentally hit when typing away, but I'm not sure.
I searched every which way I could to find this out, but to no avail. Can anyone address this query?
