I can not get my usb dvb-t sick working. It is a hauppauge WinTV-HVR 900 hybrid TV stick. The number on the backside is: M/R: 65018/BC20 Some time ago I read somewhere that this model was supposed to work with ubuntu 9.10. [URL] it is possible to make it work since the poster appears to be using the same model as I do.But I still have trouble setting it up.
I bought this tv card because it was listed as working 'out-of-the-box'. Well, it didn't for me. I've googled and forummed for 3 days, tried all the fixes and nothing works.
Upgraded system so I could store more recorded video. Now system identifies the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-150 card as a scanner. I have the original setup disk from Hauppauge but it is not Linux compatable. Running: Ubuntu 9.04 on: AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
I am having problems with Natty AMD64 (Ubuntu 11.04) and LIRC/IR-Keytables.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV card (Bt87 (TV card and IR receiver/transmitter) that worked (for the first time) automatically with 10.10 and LIRC. I recently moved over to 11.04, copied my LIRC config files over (hardware.conf, lircd.conf, lircmd.conf, etc), and received the error couldn't find any node at /sys/class/rc/rc*
The modules I had previously been successful with were: lirc_dev & lirc_i2c, as is apropriate for my speific card.
I then learned that Natty incorporated a lot of RC elements in to the kernel, and tried following:[url]
Which suggested removing lirc. At this point, ir-keytable also gives the same error about no node at /sys/class/rc/rc*
I think that I am having a problem with the correct driver being loaded for my card. When I look at a dmesg, the relevant section is: (note: I'm not sure if this dmesg was from before or after I uninstalled LIRC and just tried keytables)
Code:
The 3rd last line makes it seem that the IR capabilities have been recognized further confusing me as to why no /sys/class/rc/rc* has been registered. I've attached an unedited copy of my proc/bus/pci/devices, and below is my lsmod.
I am trying to install a Hauppauge 1850 video card into Linux Home automation system (LinuxMCE) which is based on Ubuntu Intrepid (I can't upgrade the kernel since this is what the LinuxMCE distribution supports)I am feeding analog signal to the video card, either through a coax analog connection or an RCA analog connection. I cannot see any picture from the card (I verified that the video card is working properly under a Windows Vista OS)I am trying to use the video card using a lightweight application such as tvtime, xawtv. In all applications I am failing to see an image. (For example, tvtime shows the message "No inputs avialble Cannot open capture device /dev/video0". Right clicking on Input configuration / Change video source doesn't give any options)
After a massive headache, it seems that driver developers have given up on drivers for the Hauppauge HVT-1600 [URL].. In their current state, the drivers can't get proper sound out of the card, and they can't figure it out.
First, does anyone know is this true? Second, can someone recommend what the best supported tuner card for linux is? My main goal is to record video coming over cable in the US. I thought the 1600 was it, but I guess I was wrong. PS, feel free to point me a ta page that has this info. I can't find one that shows card comparisons (or recommendations).
I am having an extremely hard time trying to make and install the driver for the Hauppauge 1600. I have Fedora 14-2.6.35.91 kernel. I am a newbie at this kind of installation. I would like to know is there a kernel that I can install that the tv tuner will work right out of the box. This is very frustrating. I try to install the CX18 driver, I receive an error message. I would really like this to work.
I have configured Kaffeine to work with my Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950Q USB device, and am able to get channels scanned, and can get sound, video from channels, etc. However, its use overheats my laptop to the degree it literally shuts down- turns off! Any suggestions? It took some effort to get this to work in Ubuntu 10.10; however, if it heats up the laptop to this degree what good is it?!
i want to try to get my wintv pvr usb2 running will this article still work to get it going? Set up Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 - openSUSE is there a easier way?
I have Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 with this card, its just works without any configuration but I have a big problem.
I start Kaffeine 1.0-svn3 and I can see the last dvb-T channel but when I want to change to other channel I can't see it, I have to restart Kaffeine, or wait to get the "Read error from:" error press Ok and select the channel.
I bought this tv tuner. I cannot get it to work however. here is my dmesg log [URL] I have read this post at TV linux and it says that it should work out the box with karmic, my kernel is 2.6.31-17-generic I scanned channels using this command tvtime-scanner and it found some channels here is the output it shows channels picking up
Code: xbmc@xbmc-desktop:~$ tvtime-scanner Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml Reading configuration from /home/xbmc/.tvtime/tvtime.xml Scanning using TV standard NTSC. Scanning from 44.00 MHz to 958.00 MHz. Found a channel at 176.50 MHz (176.25 - 176.50 MHz), adding to channel list. Found a channel at 184.00 MHz (183.75 - 184.00 MHz), adding to channel list. how do I configure tv time to work? it just comes up with a no signal [URL] after I get this working I want to get the tvheadend working from this XBMC thread I dont know what to do as I am new to this and thought this would work out the box.
After some difficulties I succeeded to run this TV card under SUSE 11.1 with kaffeine 0.8.8.Everything works fine except for that the card refuses to tune on a DVB-S2 transponder. (For Example TP 11 on Astra 19.2E)The terminal output looks like this:
Tuning to: Das Erste HD / autocount: 1 Using DVB device 0:0 "Conexant CX24116/CX24118" tuning DVB-S to 11362000 h 22000000
How do I install WinTv pvr-250 (Tv-card) on my ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala? I am new to linux and not quite sure to begin. I would like to be able to use it to watch TV on my computer, using VLC, mythTV or similar.
I'm running 10.04 64-bit with all stable and pre-release upgrades enabled in a Dell 4-core Inspiron with 8 GB of memory. I just bought a Hauppage WinTV-HVR 1600 and it's detected in the boot process and all firmware is loaded, but then it goes bonkers and spews
over and over again. All the info on the Hauppage site and LinuxTV is very obsolete. MythTV initializes, but can't find any channels on either the analog or digital streams.
I have an HD-PVR that I'd like to use to strictly grab programs off my DirecTV HR24 - football/hoops, concerts, etc. The only machine I have that runs windows is my dual-boot laptop (Vista/Ubuntu 10.04). I'm currently using that and a windows program called Arcsoft TME. However, I'd like to be able to do this with my Ubuntu desktop PC which would be permanently connected to the HR24.
Since (stable) Linux drivers don't seem to be currently available to capture from the 1212, is it worth installing WINE and running TME under that? My goal is to make DVDs and delete the programs from the HR22.
I'm just not getting anywhere here after 12 - 15 hours of googling last 3 days.I'm linked out, and linked back, almost into a do-loop, just like a boomerang, and still no vids...
I recently upgraded my old Hauppauge TV Card (BT878) with a HVR-1300. Whilst the older card worked OK, I am struggling to get the new card to work, despite it seemingly having installed OK in YaST.
I've followed instructions here upto the point for the Startup Script for Analog Tuner the script provided does not run (v4l2-ctl seems to be depriciated?) In any case the scan for digital channels is not finding anything, I wasn't able to scan for analog channels. When I do something like cat dev/video0 | mplayer All I see is static. I've followed the instructions and I didn't get any obvious error messages. I'm completely lost. I know the tuner works, I've tested in in Windows 7. I've tried connecting the coaxial cable directly to the tuner's TV outlet, to the ATSC outlet, I've tried connecting the set-top box out coax to the TV, and ATSC outlets to no avail.
I've got a strange problem with my Hauppauge card; I've just undertaken a clean install of Mythbuntu 10.04, and the built in Hauppauge remote for my Nova S2 HD card is intercepting remote signals from the number and direction keys and sending them as keypresses to the terminal - even when lirc isn't running.I didn't have this issue under 9.04 - but it seems that whatever is intercepting the IR signal is preventing LIRC from getting a look-in as it makes no difference whether lirc is running or not.I found this thread: URL... but the link to the explanation is dead and my attempts to blacklist lirc_i2c and gpio_keys have made no difference.
I just got a Hauppague HVR-2250 in the hopes of being able to watch and record tv on my computer. I followed this guide to install the drivers: [URL] It seems to have installed alright I cannot tell if it worked. I am not using MythTV, nor am I interested in MythTV. I just want a simple application to watch ATSC channels. Me-TV seems like an application that fits the bill. It says there are no digital tuners detected though. I don't know if the drivers did not install or if the card isn't supported by the application.
This is a writeup to help you enable your Hauppauge 1250 tv tuner card so you can use it with programs such as Mythtv. This will enable multiple cards. I am assuming your card isn't working "out of the box". You can check if it is recognized in the OS by following the instructions in "How to tell if the TV card is recognized" below.
In linux land, the 1250 is not just a 1250 but can be a variety of designations. I own older 1250's which are listed as 1270's. My newer cards are listed as 1255's. These cards usually don't work "out of the box" with linux. You have learn the ropes and enable them yourself. You have to have time on your hands and be a glutton for punishment when it comes to setting up linux but a stable, well running system is worth it. If you need everything done for you and want it "out of the box", you might as well ride back to Bill Gates' Boneless Chicken Ranch.
First off, here is an updated cardlist for the cx23885 driver that is used with the 1250 amongst other tuner cards:
I've looked everywhere for this and I can't find an answer. I've got a hauppauge wintv-1250 card; ubuntu and mythtv recognize it OOTB. The dvb digital tuner portion of this card works great. I had quite a time figuring out how to set it up, but it all works pretty good now. nyway, the only problem is that I need to record 2 sources: 1 is RF, the other is from an analog cable box. So, I figured I should be able to record analog video from the s-video input. Is this possible with mythtv, and if so, how? I could watch it in windows with the software that came with the card, so I know it's possible, but I'd rather avoid windows if I can.
I've been doing alot of reading but i cant seem to get my HVR-1250 card working with mythTV, my system see's it but i cant get myth TV to recognize it? it doesnt come up in the "probed info" in the backend, do i have to just plug in the right info and not worry about that or what? sudo lshw -C multimedia output:

I picked up a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 PCIe TV tuner a few days ago. Digital TV worked fine right out of the box (after setting up the firmware), but I have not been able to get analog video to work at all.If I run mplayer, xawtv or tvtime using /dev/video1 (yes, that is the correct devnode, video0 is a different card in my rig), So, has anyone RECENTLY gotten analog capture working on this card?
I have an old Fisher VHS player with the old 'antenna' connection [one wire] to the TV. It does still work. I connect this to an old Hauppauge 250 pvr card in a box running Ubuntu 10-10.
I want to be able to put old tapes on my disk drive.
Working mainly with MythTv, I can not get it to work. The hardware seems to be working as I have options for tuner1 and other inputs. As channel 4 is no longer 'broadcast' I can't scan for it even with the VCR running.
Would someone please hold my hand an provide the necessary steps to get MythTv working or an alternative.
I have read the five similar threads and numerous other google hits but can't find what I need. Part of my problem is I am also new to Ubuntu and jumping in an out of terminal sessions is no where near what I grew up with in Slackware.
I have a physical storage problem and want to put my VHS tapes onto disk. I have an unused Hauppauge WinTV-PVR350 which I understand should do the job but can I do it using Linux? I seek some pointers on what program to use, how to do it and tag the resulting files and help installing my Hauppauge card and any driver if required. I have openSUSE 11.4 (64bit) installed using KDE desktop.
