OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Get TV Card (WinTV-HVR 4000 HD) Tuned On DVB-S2 Transponders?

Feb 13, 2010

After some difficulties I succeeded to run this TV card under SUSE 11.1 with kaffeine 0.8.8.Everything works fine except for that the card refuses to tune on a DVB-S2 transponder. (For Example TP 11 on Astra 19.2E)The terminal output looks like this:

Tuning to: Das Erste HD / autocount: 1
Using DVB device 0:0 "Conexant CX24116/CX24118"
tuning DVB-S to 11362000 h 22000000

Ubuntu Multimedia :: WinTV Card Fails To Initialize Tuner

Sep 11, 2010

I'm running 10.04 64-bit with all stable and pre-release upgrades enabled in a Dell 4-core Inspiron with 8 GB of memory. I just bought a Hauppage WinTV-HVR 1600 and it's detected in the boot process and all firmware is loaded, but then it goes bonkers and spews

[ 24.421795] cx18 0000:02:01.0: firmware: requesting v4l-cx23418-dig.fw
[ 24.612289] cx18-0 843: loaded v4l-cx23418-dig.fw firmware (16382 bytes)
[ 24.632510] cx18-0 843: verified load of v4l-cx23418-dig.fw firmware (16382 bytes)

over and over again. All the info on the Hauppage site and LinuxTV is very obsolete. MythTV initializes, but can't find any channels on either the analog or digital streams.

I cannot see any picture from the card (I verified that the video card is working properly under a Windows Vista OS)I am trying to use the video card using a lightweight application such as tvtime, xawtv. In all applications I am failing to see an image. (For example, tvtime shows the message "No inputs avialble Cannot open capture device /dev/video0". Right clicking on Input configuration / Change video source doesn't give any options)

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Nvidia Driver 96 Doesn't Work With Geforce4 MX-4000?

Mar 24, 2010

I've been having big problems getting 9.10 to work with a Geforce4 MX-4000 card. I know it is not a hardware problem because I've got a dual boot win xp/9.10 setup and the video card works very well under win xp. The monitor is a Samsung P2250. The issue is that the highest resolution available after installing the recommended nvidia 96 driver is 800x600, the same as that before the driver was installed. This is very frustrating because the monitor requires 1920x1080 I'm not sure whether the driver is at fault or the xorg.conf settings.

Should I try installing the nvidia site drivers? I've checked out several forum threads on xorg.conf settings but I'm really not sure how to go on this. What I need is an entry level guide to setting up xorg.conf. The manual here is not that user friendly.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: WinTV HVR 950 Q Causes Overheating?

I have configured Kaffeine to work with my Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950Q USB device, and am able to get channels scanned, and can get sound, video from channels, etc. However, its use overheats my laptop to the degree it literally shuts down- turns off! Any suggestions? It took some effort to get this to work in Ubuntu 10.10; however, if it heats up the laptop to this degree what good is it?!

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: No Audio From TV Card?

May 9, 2010

I'm in a real mess I have been reading loads of forums and wikis for a week now, trying to work out how to configure mythtv and ALSA to pick up the audio output from my hauppauge HVR 1300. I am using it to watch the RF output from a sky box, so there is only one channel which I have managed to tune ok.

I can listen to other sources of audio such as dvd mp3 etc. and I have run speaker test pointing at ALSA:default and I get audio, but when I point mythtv at ALSA:default I get glorious silence which for once is not what I want.

I have read some comments about having to redirect the audio output with sox but have not really understood how, and there are other comments about connecting a cable between the tv card and the aux in of the sound card but have not hmanaged to find a way of doing that either. If there is someone who have used this card and configured the analog audio I would love to know how you did it.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Which Application Is Using The Sound Card

Feb 3, 2010

I'm running Amarok 1.4 and I frequently need to restart the sound daemon. As far as I can tell; no applications are using it at the time, but alsa cycles through my playlist without playing anything (i.e. loads track, doesn't play it, moves to the next track, so on and so forth).

I'm pretty sure this would have something to do with another process using the sndcard. I just don't know which one so I can kill it and troubleshoot why it's doing it.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Cannot Properly Record Sound Card Output

Apr 8, 2010

A few days ago I setup a pc. It contains an "Intel ICH5" sound card. Before I begin posting all the configuration stuff I've tried so far what the standard procedures are to set it all up for recording the sound card output (with Audacity)?

On my older computer it all worked fine but now I only get silent recordings. However sometimes (when I played on the controls the right way...) I get recordings where you can (amoung some noise) recognize the stuff I actually wanted to record very low... Apart from Audacity I've also tried

Code:
arecord -vv -fdat audio.wav
which didn't work either. That's why I think the problem is not related to Audacity but to the system.

Is the combination of OpenSuse 11.2 + ALSA + Intel ICH5 commonly known to cause such trouble?

"The IEEE Subsystem is not responding. The raw 1394 module must be loaded, and you must have read and write access to /dev/raw1394."

I do not have an entry /dev/raw1394 on my system. Files libraw1394 and libraw1394-8 were installed by default(SUSE 11.3 64bit), and I have since installed any others offered which were libraw1394-8-32bit, libraw1394-devel, libraw1394-devel-32bit but to no avail.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video Card Died New Card Boots To Black?

Jul 15, 2010

My video card developed problems, so I followed the suggestion in this thread:

Quote: Boot into recovery mode, then choose root, for a command prompt and enter
Code: dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

but my ubuntu 10.04 32-bit system still won't boot. Shortly after the ubuntu logo comes up, before the login, my screen goes black and there is no more video signal. What else can I do to reset the video configuration? The card only has this info on it: I could put the card back in the system, reboot, and then pre-configure the system to drop to the intel 865G on-board video, but the msi card has intermittent problems and will spontaneously re-boot several times during the first ten minutes of turning on the system.

Ubuntu :: Hauppauge WinTV IR Modules Broken In Natty - Previously Working In 10.10

Aug 7, 2011

I am having problems with Natty AMD64 (Ubuntu 11.04) and LIRC/IR-Keytables.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV card (Bt87 (TV card and IR receiver/transmitter) that worked (for the first time) automatically with 10.10 and LIRC. I recently moved over to 11.04, copied my LIRC config files over (hardware.conf, lircd.conf, lircmd.conf, etc), and received the error couldn't find any node at /sys/class/rc/rc*

The modules I had previously been successful with were: lirc_dev & lirc_i2c, as is apropriate for my speific card.

I then learned that Natty incorporated a lot of RC elements in to the kernel, and tried following:[url]

Which suggested removing lirc. At this point, ir-keytable also gives the same error about no node at /sys/class/rc/rc*

I think that I am having a problem with the correct driver being loaded for my card. When I look at a dmesg, the relevant section is: (note: I'm not sure if this dmesg was from before or after I uninstalled LIRC and just tried keytables)

Code:

The 3rd last line makes it seem that the IR capabilities have been recognized further confusing me as to why no /sys/class/rc/rc* has been registered. I've attached an unedited copy of my proc/bus/pci/devices, and below is my lsmod.

Code:
