I recently installed Fedora 13. I formatted drives and did a clean install. Since the install, I cannot see my cd drive in the file system menu. I can see it in the BIOS and can boot from it, but cannot see any cd put in after the fedora boot. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I assume it needs mounted or something like that,

Unfortunately i have executed below shell cmd. grub-install /dev/sda windows drive is not visible But /dev/sda3 is a windows vista file system, now sda3 file system is not in visible for both in linux and also vista OS. How can i retrieve my data back in vista sda3. Here is the info of system

I used unetbootin to put ubuntu 10.10 on a 2 gb usb key. I started up using the "try before installing" option and when I try to install in full it says I do not have 2.5 free gb's for the install. So I open up gparted only to find that only drive there is my 2bg usb key and I have no idea how to find my main hard drive.
I tried searching and tried the following; I checked the sata setting in the boot menu and it is IDE. The computer has also never been used in a raid setup.
10.10 installation fails: not paritition nor hard drive visible, Gparted does not start: trying to install 10.10 as a 2nd boot to windows Xp MCE installation. I get the the stage "allocate drive space", but there is not device nor hard drive visible. if I click install now I get an error message, no root file system defined. please correct this from the partitiioning menu.If I sart GPARtition, it does not start.I am totally lost, I have two parititions on hard drive that i created with fresh XP MCE installation, one dedicated to XP, other I reserverd for Ubuntu. Neither one is viisible at the installation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have succesfully attached some networkdrives (Windowsshares actually) to Nautilus. It's possible to access these with Nautilus and the Open File Dialog of Open Office.
However .. The "Save To" in Google Chrome and "Open File" in Notecase are not showing these networkdrives. Is this a different browser? Is there somewhere somehow a setting to see the drives?
The menu item http is not visible,system>administrator>server settings>http..should i have to reinstall? I am using redhat 5.1.

It was my long-time plan, but I have not started it yet as HDD worked fine till last week. I should mention that when I tried to connect it to mother board via IDE , Fedora read some errors. When I do it through USB, the indicator on HDD box is red, perhaps, stating the mistake.

I have just installed Fedora 13, everything seems to work but the Internet connection. 3 devices are shown in the "Network Configuration" window (devices tab)(under "Network Device Control")"Network Cards" (wired) (wireless) and even the Motorola Modem from the ISP as well as all of the primary and secondary "DNS's", but will not connect! I have Broadcom devices on a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop. On the upper right of the desktop, the connection icon shows when I plug and unplug the cat5e, so it sees something there, but will not connect.

I was thinking I'd pull the drive from the server and build a separate machine that has it's own os installed and the source and destination drive. Does anyone know of any linux tools will will do a full drive copy? Additionally, If possible, I'd like to move to a larger drive. how I'd migrate the 120 drive to a 400 or so? 1 idea I have is to install os on 2 new drives to where it they will boot, Then boot with one and copy source to the newly created destination drive.

I was not happy with the OS, so I reinstalled F10.Now I cannot get my CD-RW Drive or DVD Rom Drive to operate fully. I can open documents saved in a CD but I cannot get any sound from music discs.They were working in the first F10. The icons are showing in "Computer" and appear ok in the Bios. View 10 Replies View RelatedI have installed Ubuntu for a friend and find that on that installation Audio CD's are not automatically visible.
Data CD's appear fine and audio CDs are visible with some software (e.g. with RipperX) but they are not visible in the file system and cannot be played directly (e.g. with RythmBox).
With my installation of Ubuntu (also 10.4), as soon as I insert an audio-CD, I am prompted as to whether I want to open the CD with RythmBox. This does not happen with the other installation.
Does anyone have any tips here? Do audio-CD's demand that a certain package is installed for them to be visible/playable?
PS: I have recently changed the DVD-drive to a CD-drive. Do I need to re-declare the drive parameters?
I have a folder on a fat32 partition that is mounted in both os's on my system.(Ubuntu 10.4 and Win 7) When I go to windows 7 the partion is mounted but I can not find the Music Folder on the drive. When i have it booted in linux I have access to the Music folder. The last change on my system I made was I ran edna-0.6 for a day so I could stream the contents of the folder. I need to figure out how to get access to these in windows again.
