Fedora :: Software To Listen FM Radio?
May 4, 2011I recently purchased a DVB-T PCI (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1110) card mainly for television watching purposes, but it also features FM radio tuner. I am now trying to find a software to listen to it. I have only been able to find some really old links and programs that no longer have working links, [URL] scroll down to FM radio software for example. Does anyone know a good working (and preferably still maintained) software for this?

I've always just used Windows media player. Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site. Of course I click it to copy what it's doing and XINE is displaying and I see it's buffering and then starts to play.

Oct 26, 2010Very inexperienced user of Linux. I am using openSUSE 11.3 (64-bit version). My audio card is Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe version). I just installed some ALSA patches (alsa-driver-kmp) as suggested in this thread: Driver for Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe) and I am now able to listen to CD music. However I am still having problems with Internet radio. For instance, when I go to AccuRadio | Internet Radio You Control and pick the Classical channel, another window pops up but the music is not streaming. Am I missing some other driver?

Aug 18, 2010I did a clean install of ubuntu 10.4 on 2 pc's and got the problem underneath on both of them. I can play all kinds of cd's, dvd's. The soundsystem is working fine. If I want to listen to a radio-station in a browser (be it firefox, be it chromium) I don't hear anything at all. No error-messages are generated. I installed/removed various soundmodules, but all to no avail. If I paste the url of the strean in VLC or Rythmbox, then I can hear the music! At booting-up, I get the following messages in the user.log-file :

Jan 23, 2011I have an old box, running Ubuntu 10.10. Mostly to be able to use internet and listen to music in my workshop. In the beginning this computer worked just fine. My Acer AL1912 was detected properly and screenresolution was automatically set to 1280x1024. When looking in system=settings=screens the monitor was detected as a Acer 1912. For some reason I brought the computer over to another place and that other monitor (an Eizo) was also properly detected. Resolution changed automatically to 1912x1280.
Now, when I have moved the computer back, all monitor settings are completely lost and I can't seem to be able to change them. I am stuck on 1024x768 and the monitor is detected as "unknown". I have tried to change the values for resolutions in monitor.xml but the values revert to 1024x768 (which look quite fuzzy on my screen. So my short question is: Is there anyway to completely restore the monitor-/screen settings in Ubuntu 10.10 so it will autodetect my monitor properly again?

Apr 15, 2010Client unable to listen to NIS domain server.I have configured an NIS server, which is working fine.I then configured an NIS client to share some like passwd, shadow, etc.By default the client was trying to communicate to the NIS server using the broadcast method..However if I restart the client computer, it fails to communicate or Listen to the domain server. Once I login to the pc, I then check the /etc/yp.conf file and it switched back to the broadcast method.Is there any way that I can make this entry: domain naman.com server station51.naman.com permanent so that even after the reboot it should communicate using the client-server connection rather than the broadcast connection.

The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.

May 1, 2010I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

Dec 8, 2010record my radio show from a radio I have plugged into my iMac. That's right. For now, I am dual booting on my iMac until I can afford to buy a dedicated PC desktop just for Ubuntu.
I can't believe that there seems to be no way for me to record my shows from my radio. Works fine when I boot into the Mac side and even when I use Ubuntu using VMware Fusion. When I boot into Ubuntu directly, Audio In in the Sound preferences doesn't seem to work. No audio coming through when I try to record from the radio.

Jun 25, 2010Ok so I am a total newbie at Ubuntu Linux and I'm having problems I don't know how to solve.
1.) Up until yesterday this wasn't a problem, but after a power outage while I was connected I am now unable to connect to the internet anymore as it says "Networking is disabled", how do i enable the "networking"?
2.) Another problem I am having is that I am not able to dim the screen in order to save power among other uses, I've looked around but haven't been able to find a solution, I am running ubuntu on a Gateway M-Series Laptop.
3.) Finally, since installing linux I have been unable to listen to music or any other sounds through headphones or speakers, when i connect something into the audio output, the outer speakers do shut off but no sound is emitted through the speakers/headphones, and yes i have tried multiple ones to make sure it wasn't the headphones or speakers.

Whenever I used to install Windows, I used to install the corresponding audio drivers(in order to listen to the music). The problem I am facing is that I do not know how to install the audio drivers(if they really exist in linux Mint 10 operating system). As a result I am not able to listen to any audio file due to lack of corresponding audio driver programs. make proper configurations settings so that I can listen to audio files in Linux Mint version 10.

Fedora :: Sleep But Still Listen For Print Jobs?
Dec 3, 2010So I have Fedora 14 installed on a laptop directly connected to my printer. I really never use the laptop except to send print jobs to it wirelessly. I was wondering if there was a way to make it suspend or sleep, or even idle everything down so it uses less power, but still listen for print jobs?

Suppose for instance I wanted Apache to Listen on port 94. I told by the site that their router is forwarding apache to port 94. That doesn't mean I change the Listen in httpd.conf. correct. Apache is still expecting connection on port 80 but in this case 80 then gets forwarded in the router to 94. This is my understanding.
