Ubuntu Multimedia :: Sound System Fine But Cannot Listen To Radio Livestream

I did a clean install of ubuntu 10.4 on 2 pc's and got the problem underneath on both of them. I can play all kinds of cd's, dvd's. The soundsystem is working fine. If I want to listen to a radio-station in a browser (be it firefox, be it chromium) I don't hear anything at all. No error-messages are generated. I installed/removed various soundmodules, but all to no avail. If I paste the url of the strean in VLC or Rythmbox, then I can hear the music! At booting-up, I get the following messages in the user.log-file :

I must say that initially I only got the message "pulseaudio[1135]: pid.c: Daemon already running." By the way. I can listen to some stations, eg. [URL]. In the latter case, an iplayer-console is being opened.

Dear community, I am using the version 10.04 LTS of Ubuntu. I want to listen to an internet radio station, which I can listen without a problem in Windows. However, in Ubuntu nothing happens when I click the link. The URL of the radio station is [URL]. The link which starts the streaming has the words "RADIO EN VIVO".

I've tried to contact the BBC on this but they cleverly seem to have made this impossible ! Does anyone know if there is a none Microsoft feed for radio 4, I have all my radio stations set up and working using Rhythmbox but cannot listen to radio 4 as it's a mms feed.

I have configured my sound drivers many times. After doing this i am able to listen a sound. But after booting there is necessary to configure them again. So is there a any way for permanent configuration.

I have an account to log into Coasttocoastam Site and listen to the streaming audio. On windows it plays with either Windows Media Player OR Real Player. I've always just used Windows media player. Now that I'm installed Ubuntu 10.04 when I go the site. Of course I click it to copy what it's doing and XINE is displaying and I see it's buffering and then starts to play.

Im trying to listen to this radio station using firefox but i can't. It has two versions the one on the left is for windows media player and the other one is something like the bbc radio iplayer i could listen to the iplayer version yesterday but something happened and now i just can't. I recently purchased a DVB-T PCI (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1110) card mainly for television watching purposes, but it also features FM radio tuner. I am now trying to find a software to listen to it. I have only been able to find some really old links and programs that no longer have working links, [URL] scroll down to FM radio software for example. Does anyone know a good working (and preferably still maintained) software for this?

Very inexperienced user of Linux. I am using openSUSE 11.3 (64-bit version). My audio card is Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe version). I just installed some ALSA patches (alsa-driver-kmp) as suggested in this thread: Driver for Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe) and I am now able to listen to CD music. However I am still having problems with Internet radio. For instance, when I go to AccuRadio | Internet Radio You Control and pick the Classical channel, another window pops up but the music is not streaming. Am I missing some other driver?

I have a new Dell XPS 9100 with 9GB ram and ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5. I installed a dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 64bit. Sound worked fine withthe Windows 7, but no sound with Ubuntu. Did a reinstall with just Ubuntu 64 bit (wiping out the Windows 7). No sound.I first did:

I am wondering if any in the Ubuntu community owns a Carmen Car Radio player by Livio Radio. The program to save internet radio to the device is written in Java, however I am not able to run it either using WINE or using Open JDK.
The Carmen Player does work well with Banshee, it is the internet radio that is not working.

I have a new install of Karmic on my system with a flyvideo 3000 tv card installed. My problem is that it doesn't find any radio channels and the input channel is completely wrong. I don't have any sound on gnomeradio and can't find the config files to change the input channel. The only input option available to me is dig1 - can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have already read the Howto for this tv card and changed the device to radio0 in the setup. I have setup tvtime perfectly with sound channel as well as with a 5.1 surround configuration. I am missing my favourite radio channel. and I want to get rid of my windows installations once and for all! Update: I did a system update and some things have changed: the radio tower graphic on gnomeradio is now green (I assume it is getting a signal) but no sound yet.

I have a weird problem where the playing any track from Amarok results in no sound being heard from the speakers. However, from everywhere else - YaST audio configuration, openSUSE startup, VLC, SMplayer et al - the sound is heard fine. I have no clue as to how I can go about fixing this. Hoping someone could assist me with this. I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. Running 11.3 and sound works ok in desktop, mplayer, firefox (flash) etc. System is using Pulse audio. I think that this worked before but I'm not sure. I don't really use
this system. I do boot it every couple of days and update it. Backend is on desktop, and live TV and recordings show fine but without sound. What do I need to check?

To start off, I am about 3 days into my new ubuntu operating system. I am a complete newbie, but i have picked up alot in the last couple days. My sound was previously working, but the microphone was glitching when using skype. After running a bunch of different commands in terminal that were posted on forums from all over the internet, I rebooted my computer to find no sound. I don't get any sound from my left speaker. With my headphones plugged in though I get sound in both speakers. I've upgraded my Kernel to .36. I'm using Ubuntu 10.10. I'm on an MSI A7200 which is a great laptop but apparently a very rare one. There's like no info on it at all on the internet.

I'm trying to record a video with sound through FFmpeg, and while it records the system sounds just fine, it doesn't record the microphone (in fact, it crashes on doing so!). The strange thing is that if I use arecord, it works just perfectly, but through ffmpeg it crashes.This is the command that I use to launch FFmpeg:

I'm running Kubuntu 9.10 X64, and am using ALSA for my sound. I have no trouble with sound: VLC, Adobe's Flash plugin, Java, etc. all work properly. When I run the Gnash standalone player, sound does not work at all.

I installed Unbuntu and tried a couple of media players to listen to music. This was a cd I put in the cd Rom. Both media players seemed to work ok, except that I was not getting any sound from either one. I did check to see if the volume control was on nil. That was ok. I do however have Sound blaster sound card installed. so my on board sound is off. I am not into the linux language as yet so I am a bit stuck at the moment.

I recently installed the x64 rpm of OSS on my Opensuse 11.2 installation (alsa does not have drivers for my lynx card). Sound works beautifully in KDE (login sounds, apps produce sound, etc), EXCEPT for firefox. I can get no sound at all from firefox. I am baffled at why only firefox does not play audio.
System:
OpenSuse 11.2 (it is a pretty fresh install)
OpenSoundSystem 4.2
KDE 4.4 (updated from factory repos)

We are trying to set up a livestream to make it possible to have the video from an HD (720p) outdoor security IP camera (h264) and use this on a few websites and use it as a demo to show what the possibilities of IP-television are. We also want to be able to stream it to some settop boxes that are in a customer environement in use. the big deal here is to take the stream from the camera on the on the server.
It would be nice to be able to interrupt the stream to show some other vids or pictures or some interactive messages. I have seen lots of these kinds of "local tv channels" but I don't have a clue how to set it up...
Uplink, money(well...) and hardware isn't really a problem.
