When I go search to find the plug in it searches for it but then says "Could not find plugin in any configured software source" Please help because I would enjoy fedora a lot better if i could listen to my music. I use to have Kubuntu, but I switched to fedora because Kubuntu was having the same problem. Once again please help, and remember I'm new.
I'm using OpenSuse 11.2 64 bits When I try to listen to music in Grooveshark Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music Online - Internet Radio - Free MP3 Streaming I can listen fine, and it seems to work ok, when suddenly the sound of the website stops to work, my processor gets overload and I've to reopen the site to continue to listen. I get the following message in kernel (I'm no sure if it's related)
How can I watch streaming XviD movies on Ubuntu? Whenever I go to a page with an XviD, all that happens is the little "Buffering" wheel in the corner starts spinning but never plays, and when I click on the "Download and install the XviD Codec" in the middle screen, an error message pops up saying "We're sorry, our content is not compatible with your computer configuration."
I installed all the codecs (Rhythmbox plays the files fine) - GStreamer good, bad and ugly Tried this link but when i open the SH file it was blank, alright i enter the code, save it and try run it in terminal

After installing fedora 10 KDE, i noticed I can't listen to any music with xmms,amarok,xmms2 etc. Nothing works
I updated everything I believe, it just won't play the files period. I get sound from ..... videos tho, so my flashplayer works. Let me know if I need to be more specific. I really would like to get xmms to work.
My music library contains some old .wma files and each time I try to run Rhythmbox, a window pops up saying that:
<Name of current song> requires an Additional plugin. The following plugin is required: Windows Media Audio Decoder. Do you want to search for this now ?
If I press the search button I get a response saying that the package was not found. Then I press the close button, only to see the same dialog popping up again. The funny thing is that all this is happening while the current songs is not in WMA format and it is actually playing
I am running fedora 11 and have configured both rpm-fusion and livna repositories.

I've been researching this for awhile now and cannot find anything that works. I'm trying to watch videos in a browser, either Chrome or Firefox, that are encoded with Xvid. Nothing has worked, and when I try to watch an Xvid video I get the following error:
"We're sorry, our content is not compatible with your computer configuration."
I've installed vlc, libxvidcore4, gecko-mediaplayer, ubuntu-restricted-extras, and numerous other libraries, none of which do anything.

I have just added a local radio station to the list in Rhythmbox but when I double click on the link to listen to the radio station i get a message stating: Search for suitable plugins? I click on Search and i am finally informed that: No packages with the requested plugins found. The requested plugins are: text/html decoder Where I can get hold of the text/html decoder
I imagine I'll have to install something, but Google has shed no light for me thus far. And just to clarify, when I say virtual terminal I mean the terminals accessed by CTRL+ALT+(F1-F6). I'm going to be doing a challenge/learning experience where I don't allow myself a graphical interface for a month. way around BASH through adaption. However, if I have to go a month without music I will go insane.
So, even if this is possible can I listen to music from the internet (....., playlist.com, etc.) or just music on my hard drive? And I'm not sure if this thread belongs in Desktop Environments or not, that section seemed to focus on graphical interface.
p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } When I play my music using any application or I use anything that get out from the speakers I can't listen it smoothly. It is like a jump (silence) that occurred randomly. I have read the sticky (Comprehensive Sound Problems Solution Guide) where I learn that I have more than one on-board sound cards after:
I would have never thought something so simple could be so difficult. I am trying to install the mp3 codecs for rhythm box music player and I can't find the commands to do so online or anywhere. I did this no problem in fedora 12. I just don't know where to look for Mandriva how to's. Would I just update the gstreamer plugins to get the mp3's to work?
I have an old box, running Ubuntu 10.10. Mostly to be able to use internet and listen to music in my workshop. In the beginning this computer worked just fine. My Acer AL1912 was detected properly and screenresolution was automatically set to 1280x1024. When looking in system=settings=screens the monitor was detected as a Acer 1912. For some reason I brought the computer over to another place and that other monitor (an Eizo) was also properly detected. Resolution changed automatically to 1912x1280.
Now, when I have moved the computer back, all monitor settings are completely lost and I can't seem to be able to change them. I am stuck on 1024x768 and the monitor is detected as "unknown". I have tried to change the values for resolutions in monitor.xml but the values revert to 1024x768 (which look quite fuzzy on my screen. So my short question is: Is there anyway to completely restore the monitor-/screen settings in Ubuntu 10.10 so it will autodetect my monitor properly again?
I installed Unbuntu and tried a couple of media players to listen to music. This was a cd I put in the cd Rom. Both media players seemed to work ok, except that I was not getting any sound from either one. I did check to see if the volume control was on nil. That was ok. I do however have Sound blaster sound card installed. so my on board sound is off. I am not into the linux language as yet so I am a bit stuck at the moment.
when i try to watch a movie on movie player from the internet i get the requires a Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) demuxer plugin which is not installed. how do i install it?
I have a oldish PC (intel celeron 1.4, 256 MB ram) with a skystar DVB-S card. I would like to use it as a Media PC to view channel and listen to music etc. I have tried Linux DVR, Geexbox and Movix without any success.
Whenever I try playing media off of my iphone when I plug it in to rhythmbox, it says: Music Player requires a additional plugin to decode this file The following plugin is required: MPEG-4 AAC decoder Do you want to search for this now?
When I click Search, it says: Failed to search for plugin Could not find plugin in any configured software source
When I try to start playing the file, it gives me: Couldn't start playback Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer.
