View 2 RepliesI have an ASCII file containing 3 Columns of descending data as flollows:
3277.233 | 9.032167E-16 | 5.354040E-16
3276.725 | 1.825813E-15 | 7.552098E-16
3276.211| 2.472245E-15 | 8.826818E-16
3275.699| 2.943001E-16 | 3.192112E-16
[Code]....
I want to sort them in ascending order.
Does anybody know how to do it in Ubuntu 10.4.
Each line of the file I am sorting is in the following format:
<url> <month> <day>
For example:
[URL]
I wrote the following to sort:
Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl
$in = shift;
chomp($in);
[code]....
The script worked fine for my small testing files, but failed in my input file. The input file is 18MB and containing more than 300,000 lines. The output will contains some lines like that:
url_one 10 1
url_two 10 1
url_three 10 3
url_four 10 1
Is that because my file is too big for perl to handle ?
I am having troubles right-clicking on a exe file to open it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet I have been using for years not and as I go I hide some of the cells. Today I unhide those cells and they came up but very thin and hard to read. I have tried to highlight the "thin" cells and do some type of format but I can not seem to get them back to the normal size.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is supposed to be possible right and better than naming each single cell?How do you do it?Also, maybe my approach is wrong as it's going to lead to a very big nested IF statement.There is a list of numbers which are price ceilings and another list of numbers containing the fees applied to these. I want to a formula that checks the item price against the ceilings and if it's less than or equal to that ceiling uses the fee in the adjacent row (which is the other data range).The only way I know how to do this is a big nested IF statement but does anyone know better?
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else find that Openoffice 3.2's spreadsheet app becomes unresponsive when copying and pasting multi-cell selections? I've had this problem ever since I started using Ubuntu 10.04, which comes with OO.O 3.2. The problem becomes noticeable whenever I make a selection more than about 8-10 columns across. Once the flashing border appears around the selected cells, the spreadsheet app becomes very sluggish. The mouse still moves normally, but it takes several seconds after a click until the highlight moves to another cell, or to un-select the cells, or copy them. These slowdowns happen both in old spreadsheets and in freshly created ones. They didn't happen with Openoffice 3.1 or earlier. Haven't tried it under Windows, so I'm not sure whether this is an issue specific to Linux OpenOffice 3.2. Other apps don't seem to be affected.

The LO program works fine, except that i can't use reports in LO Base. When I'm trying to use a report file that already exists in a base file, i'm getting the message "loading component library <file:///usr/lib/libreoffice/program/librptlo.so> failed.
What should i do to make reports work;
What is a .dps file, how do I view the same in debian ? I did try a file and this is what I got :-
Code: Select all[$] file UEFI.dps
UEFI.dps: Composite Document File V2 Document, Little Endian, Os: Windows, Version 6.1, Code page: 1200, Author: xxxxx, Total Editing Time: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Last Printed: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Create Time/Date: Fri Sep 23 20:07:58 2011, Last Saved Time/Date: Sat Dec 30 05:00:00 1899, Number of Pages: 0, Number of Words: 0, Number of Characters: 0, Security: 0, Locale ID: 2052
The .dps file is some Microsoft format. Libreoffice plays it cool. Although do get errors on the console like :-
Code: Select all(soffice:12869): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_style_context_set_path: assertion 'priv->widget == NULL' failed
* (soffice:12869): CRITICAL **: GdkPixbuf* bitmapToPixbuf(SalBitmap*, SalBitmap*): assertion 'pBitmap->mnBitCount == 24' failed
but still somehow functions...
I had made a database in OOO Base, but I guess because of the size, it's not uncommon for it to crash. Now that testing and Sid are now using LibreOffice, is the database any more stable? Or...is there an alternative database package to be used only on a local machine without a server?

View 5 Replies View RelatedInstalled LibreOffice in Debian Wheezy (KDE)Open a document and type something.
1. Click File -> Export to pdf
A pdf will be generated. No problem
2. Click File -> Print -> Print to File
Only the Postscript option is available, PDF is not available.
Any idea how can I configure so as to get the pdf option when doing a print to file?
I've recently installed Debian 8 in my machine.
I've got excited when I saw the possibilty to use my Owncloud account (my server is installed on a Digital Ocean cloud machine) directly on the system configuration.
Well, I added the acount there and my owncloud webdav folder appeared on Nautilus everytime I turn my PC on, what's great. So I've started to save my Libreoffice docs on the cloud, believing that I finally got free from google docs.
Is it possible to install Debian 8.2 lxde WITHOUT Libreoffice? I have successfully installed it on an eeepc with a 4 gb ssd
But then removed Libreoffice to have room for files.
It works great! It would be nice to just install Debian lxde without Libreoffice, which I do not use, I prefer gnumeric and vim.
I have box that I run Sid on. I haven't used if for a month or so and have found that OpenOffice is gone and appears to have been replace by LibreOffice. I have come across one other thread which noted something similar. Is LibreOffice any better than OpenOffice? I plan to purge LibreOffice and install OpenOffice back on unless there is a good reason to keep LibreOffice.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI installed libreoffice from the official Debian repository. Even after a clean installation of Debian Jessie, Libreoffice started and ran only once. After that, when LO was started, it gave an error message: "Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module".I installed "canberra-gtk-module." From then on, LO never gave any error message in terminal. The banner flashes across the screen for a moment and then disappears.
I deleted ~/.config/libreoffice folder and started LO again. Each time the command "libreoffice" is run in terminal, it creates the configuration files in ~/.config folder.I created a new user to check if LO would run. It does run when a new user account is created. But the problem keeps coming back.
After uninstalling libreoffice, I tried installing openoffice 4. Even openoffice 4 wouldn't start. The banner would just appear for a moment.
Acer desktop m3641
mcp73 (the motherboard?)
Intel pentium dual cpu e2200
ram 2gb
hdd 300gb
The only os is debian and there is plenty of space on the hdd.
Symptoms: When I click on something, say Evolution or Empathy or Maps, about 1 in 5 times the screen will freeze and I have to switch the computer off and on again.
I had this problem with Wheezy and could not resolve it. In the past week I have installed Jessie 32bit and then Jessie 64bit and I get the same problem.
On downloading my copies of Jessie I have verified the md5 and sha.
I have same problem described here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... e_clicking
The command: #hdparm -B 254 /dev/hda -- works
Now, I should create:
an executable file named 00DISK in /etc/pm/sleep.d with the following content
I use scim to input Chinese in Libreoffice-writer. It worked on one of my computers until a couple of days ago.
Normally to start scim I press Ctrl and the space bar at the same time. Then I use the input method Cangjie to input Chinese.
Now when I do so in Libreoffice-writer "English/European" appears in the scim panel. The other choice is "English/Keyboard". The choice of either doesn't enable me to input Chinese.
In all other software scim works as before.
The computer runs Debian sid. On another computer that runs Debian sid too I don't have the same problem. I have version 5 of Libreoffice on both computers.
I want to use LibreOffice but I keep getting an error every time I try to open any office application.
The error is : The application cannot be started. [context="bundled"] caught unexpected exception!
I installed the .debs the first time and thought it might be wiser to install it from the experimental repos.So I reinstalled but there's no difference,I keep getting the error.
I reinstalled and found that the same error is caused by the installation for the dictionaries.I removed those but the error is still present.
I've seen people post this error on some forums except context=user and not bundle.However,it seems those were Windows 7 machines and that it's a 64 bit bug.
I'm also running the 64 bit version.
Also,if I try to install the desktop-integration .debs I get another error ( that is,if I remove the dictionaries,otherwise the installation runs just fine ) :
For my desktop use, I wanted to keep my office suite and web browser updated while continuing to run Debian stable as my base. Here is how to install the latest Firefox and Libreoffice packages on Squeeze. Download Firefox 4 here. Then as root:
Code:
mv firefox*.tar.bz2 /opt
cd /opt
tar -xvjf firefox*.tar.bz2
ln -s /opt/firefox /usr/local/firefox4
ln -s /usr/local/firefox4/firefox /usr/local/bin/firefox4
rm firefox*.tar.bz2
[Code].....
It will install Libreoffice in /opt and the packages will show up in Synaptic Package Manager under "Local". The installation automatically creates menu entries in Gnome for Libreoffice applications. I've had no problems thus far using the latest Libreoffice 3.2.2 and Firefox 4. Hope this is helpful for anyone else wanting to install.
I could use some input. I have just recently installed Squeeze and KDE4 as I had hoped that the kinks had been worked out. Anyway, here is the situation: If I click on a link in kmail or kopete (haven't tried other apps yet) the default web browser never opens. Okay, can deal with that but instead what happens is my screen is filled with notifications literally by the hundreds, that konqueror is being started. No window ever opens but the task-bar is then filled with tabs for konqueror. I could not get this to stop and had to kill X (as my settings are to save the state of running apps when logging off. Thus if I just log off over 100 instances of konqueror will be saved and restarted when I log back in). Some things that may be relevant: The box has a 2.3GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. According to mem there is only 12MB of free physical RAM when the system has been booted and logged into. Other things still work, other applications still start and close although be it slowly. Once X restarts and I log back in, if I manually run konqueror it starts but with an error message that a previous session has crashed and would I like to restore that session. I tell it no as I don't want the whole thing starting over. I can drag and drop links in to konqueror and things work as expected. Starting konqueror from a terminal works fine as does using the run box and any link directly to the program. I am not sure how to simulate me clicking on a link to have the program run from a terminal so I can look for error messages. I have tried to search the web for info but I have recieved absolutely ZERO useful hits in nearly 10 pages. If this is not due to my system running out of resources I am thinking it is a bug I need to report. However, at the moment, I have described to you all things the best I could and I doubt with out something more it won't do much good to report it as my other Squeeze installs on an 800MHz system with only 512MB of RAM don't have this problem even though they run slower than molasses in January left outside in Alaska.
In the mean time I have made it so the system messages don't keep filling my screen by disabling the pop-up notifications. This hasn't changed the fact that hundreds of instances of konqueror are trying to be opened though when I forget to first open konqueror and then drag a link into it. At the moment, this is a completely stock install using only the first DVD that is only a week old. Here is the DVD info: "Official Snapshot i386 DVD Binary-1 20100823-05:10"

i couldn't get out after many hours of reading documents/posts/forums etc.
The issue:In Kde 4.4.5, using xorg and radeon opensource driver, i can't set OpenGL for desktop effects. Clicking "Apply" it fails. OpenGL seems corrupted someway. I have to stay on XRender. This is the glxinfo output:
glxinfo | grep OpenGL
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa Project
OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 7.7.1
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20
OpenGL extensions:
The story:i was running previously kde with nvidia propertary driver and a nvidia board. Then i removed the board for a fault and put a sapphire radeon HD5450. Initially i set up propertary radeon fglrx. At the end, i decided to use the opensource drivers, removed in the best way all fglrx files and links. So i then followed the wiki for reinstall open source radeon drivers, did it many times, also reinstalling xorg with purge, same for libgl1-mesa-xxx etc, but i still cannot use the OpenGL hardware support (should be DRI, that is correctly installed but not loaded).
Seems to be really an opengl corruption, if i disable the check on apply, and select OpenGL rendering, i get a complete blank screen.
Some information of the system:
