Debian Hardware :: Removing Storage Function From Huawei USB Dongle?

Jan 17, 2011

I got a Huawei USB dongle (modem) that I use to access the internet. This of course required usb_modeswitch. My question is, how can I remove the storage functionality completely so that it does not show up anymore among the drives and simply be visible as ONLY a modem?

Ubuntu Networking :: Get A Vodafone Huawei 4511 Dongle Working?

Aug 2, 2011

Anyone know how can get a vodafone huawei 4511 dongle working on ubuntu?

I've spent several hours reading stuff, most of which is way above my head.

I plug it in, set it up in "edit connections". Nothing happens.

It shows up in disk utility twice, as a usb vodaphone storage (huawei) and cd drive (vodafone cd rom)

I switched from puppy to ubuntu because I read that you could just plug dongles into ubuntu and they would be recognized. (Spent many many hours trying to get it working in puppy.)

Ubuntu Networking :: Vodafone ( Huawei K3520 ) Mobile Broadband Dongle?

Feb 12, 2010

I'm new here. This is my first post. Something tells me my problem will be met with great sighs and shrugs of shoulders. I think you may have heard this problem just a few thousand times. couple of days ago i took the plunge and installed Ubuntu 9.10. I already run XP Pro. I have the system set for dual booting until i get to grips with Linux and have all that i use daily from software to hardware comprehesively installed and running. then i have this ideal romantic dream of dumping my microsoft heartache, and living a happy life with the new love in town (an OS that works!)

Vodafone (Huawei K3520) mobile broadband dongle. Yes i know its a touchy subject but i am going cross-eyed reading info on various forums from this one to the betavine forums and a detour through vodafone themselves. I just can't find clear concise info on how to get this dongle up and running with Ubuntu. My laptop is Acer Aspire 5633 WLMi. I would really really appreciate your help on this subject i need to get online with this dongle and Ubuntu.

Debian Multimedia :: Removing Epiphany Without Removing Half The System?

May 31, 2011

I know a bunch of commands and I am comfortable using the terminal, I even set a powerpc server but I can't figure out how to remove epiphany on this new computer I'm setting up. I didn't install anything with tasksel. I installed gnome and xorg afterwards... I load it up and 'startx' just fine. then I check around for the programs that were installed. I lik'em gimp, lot's of utilities. gedit. anyway I find epiphany, which I have already established that I dislike, I immediately go to the root terminal (another nice program that comes with gnome) and type apt-get remove epiphany-browser-data the output says it will be deleting gnome... however I have researched and found these are simpy meta packages that don't really matter.... however under the section that states all the packages that will be removed by autoremove there is a huge list... I doubt these packages are safe to remove. how to remove epiphany without removing a huge amount of probably needed software

Debian Hardware :: Dongle Does Not Work Directly Out Of Box

Dec 14, 2014

I am running Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi...I have read that the v2 version of this dongle does not work directly out of the box.Their are multiple tutorials online which provide some pre-compiled files that can be dragged and dropped into some directories and it allows the dongle to work. URL....

However, I would rather download and compile from scratch myself but am unsure how to do this. The raw driver files are available on github here. URL....

(many authors providing pre-compiled files confirm they got the original files from here too).I have used wget and performed the following

mkdir wifiSetup
mv master.zip wifiSetup
cd wifiSetup
unzip master.zip

Debian Hardware :: Bluetooth Dongle - Change Mac Address

Feb 4, 2016

I purchased 2 CSR V4.0 dongles which work fine, one in Deb8 and one in a Win7 laptop. The only problem is they both have the same mac address so my Samsung Tabs get confused. I have thoroughly researched how to change these but most of the suggestions want a dev reference such as wlano or eth0 which USB dongles do not have a dev id.

The only alternative is to use bdaddr which comes with the bluez package but it must be compiled with the --enable-tools option.

When I try to compile I get the error "error:D-Bus library is required". When I check the config.log it suggests:

"Package dbus-1 was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `dbus-1.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable".

Dbus is installed on my system but I could not find dbus-1.pc. The only reference was the directory "/usr/share/dbus-1" so I added it to my $PATH variable. This did work.

Programming :: Passing Data From Interrupt Handler Function To Tasklet Function?

May 18, 2010

I am doing some Linux kernel programming for my research project. I need to record the timestamp (by using cpuid and rdtsc) when an interrupt handler (top half) is first invoked. Due to the time critical nature of the problem itself, I have to do the timestamping inside the interrupt handler itself (the first operation when the handler is called). However, I understand that tasks that are not so time critical should be deferred to a tasklet function (bottom half) for processing because other interrupts are disabled in a (top-half) interrupt handler. I am currently out of idea on how I can pass the timestamp information that I have obtained in the interrupt handler to the corresponding tasklet function.

Debian Installation :: 7.7 I386 Install On HP P440ar Storage Array

Mar 18, 2015

I am having problems installing Debian 7.7 i386 on the newest HP DL380 GEN9 server with P440ar storage array. The disk detection during installation fails to detect the array.

I have pinpointed the problem to hpsa.ko driver to be outdated as I need a minimum version from September 2014. I have already tried following the guide on " [URL]" but the driver compiling from sources fails (guide is from 2012).

Here is where I got the latest sources: [URL]....

Is there any possible way to install this debian version with this storage array? Newer kernel version is really not an option for me.

"3.2.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.2.65-1+deb7u2 i686 GNU/Linux"
