Fedora Hardware :: No 3D Acceleration On Intel Mobile 4 Series Graphics Card - 12

Apr 18, 2010

I'm a Fedora 12 user on an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop. I'm currently using kernel 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64, graphics driver xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.9.1-1.fc12.x86_64, and mesa 7.7-4. My graphics card is an Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07).

I've been having some problems getting my 3D acceleration to work. Although it worked correctly in Fedora 11, I have not been able to get it to work yet in Fedora 12.

The output of glxinfo shows:

Running glxinfo with LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose shows:

I found a similar message here: [url]

However, I'm not sure if this is the same problem I have. What does the drm_intel_bo_busy message mean?

I tested the Chess game included with default Squeeze install, running in 3d mode, and definetely there is no acceleration at all...

Debian Installation :: Onboard Graphics Card Setup - Full Hardware Acceleration Not Activated

Sep 5, 2015

I'm running hardware already considered legacy and I was made painfully aware that those drivers, for ATI cards, are only available from Jessie repositories; yet, somehow I was able to have my system configured to run not the stock drivers the system used for installation but, allegedly, proprietary drivers.

I did notice an overall improvement on how the system displays everything on the screen but after fumbling around the system trying to install a game I had a message warning that only software acceleration was activated and not full hardware acceleration, which was what I was aiming at.

After going through a lot of guides on the web I was able to:

a) discover the system is running MESA drivers (or so I have understood)
b) install headers for my system but somehow along the way I fumbled whatever I was doing and I probably now have a lot of loose ends in the system

Being Debian (and rock solid) the system is still running smoothly but I really want to clean up after myself and correct what I can and improve where is possible.

Ubuntu :: Unable To Enable 3D Acceleration

Aug 17, 2011

i'm currently running Ubuntu 11.04.Heres my problem. Everytime i try to run Compiz and apply some of the fantastic effects none of them seem to work. So this tells me that something is either wrong with my graphics driver (because upon a clean install of Ubuntu it says i don't have a graphics card that can supoort Unity) or i've just simply missed a step in adding one.I've checked Nvidia X server only to get the message "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver Please edit your x configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig as root)" I would love to run it in root if (and don't laugh) i only knew how :

From the many commands i've found online i've tired to either get to or find xorg.conf and if i'm mistaken doesn't exist for some reason. In a nutshell. I can't enable 3d acceleration, i can't find xorg.conf.I currently have 325m Nvidia card on my laptop, if it helps : I can give a ton of other information in necessary.

Software :: Getting 3D Acceleration Working On Intel 82865G - No Xorg.conf?

Mar 8, 2010

I'm trying to get full 3D acceleration working with an Intel 82865G Integrated Graphics chipset on my Arch install. I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to work with xf86-video-intel, as I can't seem to get the Intel-provided drivers to compile. As also stated, I have to xorg.conf to speak of, so I can't exactly go in and simple edit lines, unless I wrote it from scratch, which I'd really rather not do, LOL. I've tried Google (including their special Linux search mode), and LQ Search, and I can't seem to find information that's relevant enough to me that I can use. Here's glxinfo (only the (hopefully) relevant portions):

Code:

[root@archie mrcode]# glxinfo | grep -i "direct rendering"

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Can't Enable 3d Acceleration On XP Over VMware

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) & recently added Ubuntu Studio to it. For quite some time, I'm trying to enable direct 3d acceleration on a virtual XP SP3 machine running over VMware Workststion 7.0.1.

As per VMware forums & many other sites, 3d hardware acceleration is supported for XP as guest provided that host Linux version is supported by the VMware product running that VM.

The forum also says that Ubuntu 9.10 is now supported by Workstation 7.0.1.

So: I have a supported version of host (Ubuntu 9.10) XPSP3 as guest. Latest version of VMware tools installed. Still I don't get hardware acceleration for the guest XP VM.

The video acceleration is clearly not enabled since I can practically watch each pixel drawn. (Well, a bit hyperbolic, but really slow.) Another system, same hardware, had this slow video problem and at one point required a complete OS re-installation. The slow video refresh went away. So there is some way to configure the graphics+display to enable acceleration at install time.

Debian Hardware :: Lag On Every 5 Min Or So With Intel 7265 WiFi Card

Sep 13, 2015

I have an intel 7265 AC wireless card. When I try to download something my estimated download time is tripled almost every 5 mins. And when I play an online game from steam (cs:go or dota2) the ping goes to 250-300 ms which generally stays around 80ms. I'm using debian jessie. So far, I've tried turning of the power save mode of the card, changing ISP and router but none of them worked. I have a fairly good internet connection (I'm using it with my other machines without a problem) so I don't think the connection or router is the problem. Below you can find some information about system.

Code: Select all$ lspci | grep Network

Debian Hardware :: Graphic Card Intel HD4400 Not Recognized

Sep 15, 2014

I'm trying to make things work on my laptop. Almost done, but there is one hardware issue left. I have a Intel HD4400 graphic card. But it seems that it is not recognized. I had an issue loading Gnome3.

Code: Select allGNOME 3 Failed to Load

Unfortunately GNOME 3 failed to start properly and started in the fallback mode.

This most likely means your system (graphics hardware or driver) is not capable of delivering the full GNOME 3 experience

Another thing :
Code: Select all$ grep EE /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[    29.117] (EE) FBDEV(0): FBIOPUTCMAP: Invalid argument

Also, if I go in "applications" ->"system tools" -> "Preferences" -> "System settings" and then in "Details, under Graphics I have "Drivers : unknown", "Experience : Fallback".

And as a consequence, I can't use dual-screen. If I plug another sreen, I have an exact copy, not even with a good resolution.

I search on the web for solutions, but I didn't understand much. I don't know what Xorg is, x-window, etc...

Debian Hardware :: Ethernet Card Intel I217-LM Not Recognized By Wheezy

Mar 7, 2014

I tried to install the latest stable version of Debian (download yesterday : Debian Wheezy 7.4.0) on my new computer Fujitsu Celsius W530.The version installed is exactly this one (given by the commande "uname -a") :

PCNAME 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.54-2 x86_64 GNU/Linux
=> A Debian Wheezy 64 bit

I have a problem with the Intel ethernet card : I217-LM (the model was verified on the Fujitsu specifications and also on the Windows 8 I use on another partition).During the install procedure, Debian did not find the ethernet card.I continued the install without it and after I tried to make it found.I got a Linux driver in the Intel Web Site but I saw after that Debian loaded yet this driver (e1000e), so I did not install the driver from Intel (I needed to get linux-headers and to compil the files).

So when I force the system to load the driver, it gives no error but the device is still not found when I try to bringup the network interface.URL...

- understand why I see the Device (with "lspci" command) and the module "e1000e" (I tried also the "e1000" one) loaded with "lsmod" command ?
- make the card work to allow my debian for connecting to internet ?

Here some commands which can show you the problem :
Code: Select all~# lsmod | grep e1000

Debian Installation :: X Server Crashes On New Install On Intel I855 Graphics Card

Sep 13, 2010

I have just reinstalled testing on a Samsung Q30 and I cant get X to start. I am just left with a blank screen and ctrl+alt+Fn does nothing. I had a previous install of testing that worked fine but it might have been running a previous version of the kernel, or I had installed a bug fix to do with 915resoultion that I can't remember about. Booting off a Slax live cd works fine but I have had similar problems with Knoppix and Ubuntu.

I am running LXDE but I previously tried Gnome and had the same problem. Running xander displays cant open display Running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg returns nothing, as does Xfree86 -configure There is no /etc/X11/xorg.conf or installed by default, I have tried running startx with a custom xorg.conf and the automatically generated one from -configure. The automatic one did not include any resolutions and was configured for a dual head set up although there was only one monitor connected.

I thought it may be the same problem as this:[url]

But I have tried following the bug fixes on that site and I have had no luck.
