Debian Hardware :: No DRI/ AIGLX Error / Card Hardware Acceleration Doens't Work?

I have a ATI Technologies Inc RV530 [Radeon X1600] Card which used to work fine under Squeeze until some weeks ago, after an update in didn't anymore and since I wanted to install to Lenny anyway and did a clean install of Lenny and now the card hardware acceleration doens't work. I followed url.

Since I am using a backports kernel I installed firmware-linux-nonfree from lenny-backports.

Networking :: NAT On Virtual IP Doens't Work?

Jan 21, 2010

We have the following school project that I can't seems to make correctly:We need to make a whole subnet communicate with the internet through another subnet's gateway using iptables, with a difficulty option, only 1 NIC.I know its seems complicated, but it's not that bad. Please keep reading and let me explain.Let's say we have subnet (number 1) = 10.1.2.0/24, gateway 10.1.2.1.I have another subnet (number 2)= 192.168.1.0/24, gateway192.168.1.1Subnet 1's (10.1.2.1) gateway doesnt have a WAN connection.Subnet 2's (192.168.1.1) does.Which means all 192.168.1.XXX can communicate with internet, while all 10.1.2.XXX cannot. Not, the goal of the project is to give 10.1.2.1 a possibility to NAT packet comming fomr it's subnet to 192.168.3.1, so the subnet 10.1.2.XX will have access to the internet.

Now, since 10.1.2.1 (the gateway) only have 1 NIC, we make it hold virtual IPs.eth0:0 = 192.168.1.35 (static)eth0:1 = 10.1.2.1 (static, begin the 10.1.2.0/24 gateway)The routes are OK and I can ping correctly on both subnet.I can even ping the internet from eth0:0 !! (192.168.1.35)I tought using the following iptables command from the 10.1.2.1's machine would do the trick:iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.1.2.0/24 -j SNAT --to-source 192.168.1.35But for some reason, 192.168.1.1 doesnt even receive any packet from it's log, except when it's not NATed (when it comes directly from 192.168.1.35), which let me think the iptables command above doesnt work correctly.

Slackware :: 3D Acceleration With NVidia 8500GT PCI-E Graphics Card - Error: Couldn't Find RGB GLX Visual Or Fbconfig

Oct 20, 2010

I have a Slackware 13.1/64-current system running the 2.6.35.6 kernel that I have installed the most recent nvidia drivers for (as of yesterday or day before) 260.19.12. If I boot up into run level 4 after running nvidia-xconfig in a console and run glxinfo as root I get:

Quote:

bash-4.1# glxinfo
name of display: :0.0
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig

If I edit /etc/profile or /home/username/.bash_profile and add the following:

Quote:

export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=X

I have set both X=0 and X=1 as reported by [URL] I get the screen of information except it says

Quote:

direct rendering: No (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT set)

my lspci -v for the graphics card looks like this:

05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: XFX Pine Group Inc. Device 2353
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16

[code]....

I am sure I missing something from my xorg.conf but at this point I am not sure what I have been searching on this for days to no avail. From the log the only thing that looks like is a problem is it doesn't load the keyboard and mouse but it gets loaded later on in the file.

Debian Installation :: Onboard Graphics Card Setup - Full Hardware Acceleration Not Activated

Sep 5, 2015

I'm running hardware already considered legacy and I was made painfully aware that those drivers, for ATI cards, are only available from Jessie repositories; yet, somehow I was able to have my system configured to run not the stock drivers the system used for installation but, allegedly, proprietary drivers.

I did notice an overall improvement on how the system displays everything on the screen but after fumbling around the system trying to install a game I had a message warning that only software acceleration was activated and not full hardware acceleration, which was what I was aiming at.

After going through a lot of guides on the web I was able to:

a) discover the system is running MESA drivers (or so I have understood)
b) install headers for my system but somehow along the way I fumbled whatever I was doing and I probably now have a lot of loose ends in the system

Being Debian (and rock solid) the system is still running smoothly but I really want to clean up after myself and correct what I can and improve where is possible.

I like OpenGL.

I don't like X.

On Linux, is there anyway to get 3D acceleration from my Nvidia card without X? Ideally, I'd have the kernel boot, get to a console, then somehow get into a "graphics mode", where my entire monitor is just a single OpenGL screen ... and I draw stuff to it with OpenGL. Without X.

Fedora Hardware :: No 3D Acceleration On Intel Mobile 4 Series Graphics Card - 12

I've been having some problems getting my 3D acceleration to work. Although it worked correctly in Fedora 11, I have not been able to get it to work yet in Fedora 12.

The output of glxinfo shows:

Running glxinfo with LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose shows:

However, I'm not sure if this is the same problem I have. What does the drm_intel_bo_busy message mean?

General :: Windows - Linux Virtualization Choices With Graphic Acceleration / Video Card Support

Jun 5, 2011

I am in the process of building a new desktop machine for work and fun. I am looking to run a undecided flavor of Linux (guessing Ubuntu) as my primary OS and several Windows installs with a Windows 7 install for .net development and gaming as virtualized environments.

From my previous experiences with virtualization software in Linux I was never able to find an application that offered descent video card support / graphic acceleration etc. to be capable of playing any games within one of the virtualized environments. And since I will be investing quite a bit of money into this system for gaming I would naturally want to find the best option available to achieve this setup.

So Onto my question: Is there any virtualization software available for Linux that has full video card support, graphic acceleration and capable of taking advantage of everything the video cards have to offer within the virtualized environments?

Or am I stuck with running Windows 7 as my primary OS and using virtualization for Linux and the other OS's?

Also I have no preference on open/closed source and price range would be up to $175.00 to support at least 3 virtualized environments.

Ubuntu :: 3D Acceleration Does Not Work - Low Graphics Mode

Sep 4, 2010

For some reason after updating, somewhere my system is messed up where my 3d acceleration doesn't work. I found a workaround though, I can get it to work when I reboot, and manually select my OS at the grub2 menu by pressing enter. It doesn't work all the time this way, but most the time it does allow 3d acceleration to work almost normal. If I let the grub2 timer count down to auto select it will never be 3d accelerated, and prompts me it's going to run in low-graphics mode and I'm given an option to Restart X. Ok that's one part of it...

Now with my workaround say I got 3d acceleration to work, when I go to System > Preferences > Appearance : and for Visual Effects I select "Normal" (was on none). It will apply fine, until I reboot it gets set back to none. So I'm having to manually put everything back (graphics) every time I boot, this is a horrible bug. Then onto another aspect of this wonderful update. All my letters and numbers on the keyboard are normal, except when I use control and ALT, they don't seem to be mapped correctly because I can't use any of my Keyboard Shortcuts.

Debian Installation :: Can't Get Pci Express Ethernet Card To Work

I have an HP Pavillion Elite HPE computer I just got for a server. It has an internal gigabyte on the mother board and I put in one pci express trendnet teg-ectx eternet card in before installing. It is using the realtek 8169 chip. I had the local network on this card and the pubic static ip on the built in ethernet port eth0. After the intstall of debian 5.07 32 bit I couldn't get the eth0 pubic access to work. I can't get into the server with sftp or ssh and openssh has been installed and I can get into it locally on the local network.

I then installed a second ethernet card the same as the local network card. Now the pubic is on the which is eth1 and the local is eth2. I can ping out to [URL] but I can't get into the server on the eth1 using ssh and I have a iptables firewall and I turned it off and I stll can't get in. I am thinking that the eth1 card I added after the install doesn't have the driver or something. nothing is hooked up to eth0 right now.

Debian Multimedia :: Getting Two Monitors To Work With 1 Nvidia Card?

Sep 4, 2010

I'd be grateful for any suggestions to get a second TV/Monitor to work in addition to the desktop monitor for a PC which runs Lenny. The first monitor is a small TFTLCD 15". Works perfectly with a GEForce FX 5200 nvidia graphic card and uses the 173.14.09 driver. Having obtained an SVGA cable, I connected the card to a rather larger 32" LCD Panasonic TX-L32S10B TV to enable some armchair viewing of internet etc for my parents. The Panasonic TV or monitor shows all the boot messages but the graphical server fails to start. I know that both screens work, either alternatively or simultaneously, having tested with a Puppy live CD.
However, running

nvidia-xconfig --twinview results in an incorrect screen resolution for the 15" TFT Monitor; Gnome Screen Resolution Preferences gives a rather surprising fixed setting of 2048x786/50Hz when the maximum should be 1024x768. The resulting xorg.conf file is:

cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Debian Hardware :: Find Out What Is Making The Sound Card Work?

May 31, 2011

I have a Toshiba laptop and Toshiba netbook (both Intel chipsets). Laptop - Squeeze install gave me the 2.6.32 kernel and sound only worked thru headphones but not the speakers. Later on, I compiled kernel 2.6.36.1 (and just imported .config from original kernel) and sound WORKED perfectly. I had a few other errors ("address space collision" / PM error) so recently I compiled kernel 2.6.38, which solved other hardware issues but sound is back to original problem (works thru headphones but not thru speakers). I even installed the "backports" kernel (2.6.38.4) and it didn't make a difference.

Netbook - Did exact same things as above but no matter what, the sound never worked on it... same issue (sound in headphones.. no sound in speakers) So, how do I "reverse-engineer" the laptop working sound install with kernel 3.6.36.1 and make it work with later kernel (nothing... and I've tried about 30+ thread suggestions makes the sound cards work properly.. other than kernel 2.6.36.1)

This problem is complicated by my newness to Linux and Debian.
Here are some specific questions:
1] Is there any debian package that is known to support the Promise Tx4650?
2] Where can I see if my Tx4650 is recognized?
3] If I have to compile it into the kernel, where are the directions for how to do that?
