Fedora Hardware :: Wrong Driver Intel GM965 With Version 14 - "can't Enter 3D Acceleration"

My lap has a "Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)" video card, and never took the 1280x800 resolution (that I had on windows). I searched a lot, and I installed a driver from the package manager (can't remember the name ...). Well, restart, and it's stuck at the finish of fedora loading process (a blank line). I can access to the terminal (ctrl + alt + f2) and modify kernel parameters. By the way, on gnome I could't enter to "Desktop Effects" (it threw an message like "can't enter 3D Acceleration")

what all graphics functionality does Intel's i915 graphics driver support?( blending,blitting ).By looking at the source code it appears to me that it support just 'fill rectangle' and 'image blitting'.Is that all?
When I was 12 fedora with graphics acceleration worked well and without problems but now I installed fedora 13 dvd compatible with everything when I installed it and no problem only in go to System> Preferences> Desktop Effects I came with a message.

But most disappointing is that I do not use Nvidia, ATi, Intel only: / will get more info put this command and I miss it.
I have a problem with compiz and this card, after few weeks suddenly it doesn't work with ubuntu, I always had troubles with this kind of cards, I was always able to solve it by this forum but this time I gave up.
The driver for GM965/GL960 is working perfectly but the compiz effects although they are enabled they are not applied to the desktop environment.

I have a fairly new laptop, 2*1.8 Ghz, but when I try to run games more advanced than pac-man, it's about 1-0.5 frames / second. This doesn't seem right. I've goggled it, and found a few posts from 2008-2009, but nothing that actually helped. Does anyone have any idea, as to what might be wrong? If anyone has this card, I'd like to see what you have in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file...
Can someone give me clues about adjusting my Ubuntu Lucid X11 use of my Intel video hardware? My laptop has video hardware identified as follows:( output from sudo lshw)
Q3: The lshwoutput shows two displays, display:0 and display:1. Can someone tell me why two and how to make use of both of these? NOTE -- The existing forum entries are mostly from April 2009 or talk about Compiz issues. While Compiz will squeeze video hardware pretty well, I use a tablet-PC and so far, Compiz features do not play well with tablet features.
I'm a Fedora 12 user on an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop. I'm currently using kernel 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64, graphics driver xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.9.1-1.fc12.x86_64, and mesa 7.7-4. My graphics card is an Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07).
I've been having some problems getting my 3D acceleration to work. Although it worked correctly in Fedora 11, I have not been able to get it to work yet in Fedora 12.

I just upgraded to 10.4 lts, and compiz stoped working. EDIT: lspci | grep VGA gives me:

About a year ago, I installed ubuntu on my ThinkPad X61, which was running windows. I basically just overwrote the hard drive, assigning one partition to the install. The graphics have always been a little buggy when it comes to 3d rendering or flash. Flash graphics flicker a lot and 3d rendering leaves trails or doesn't show up at all. Is there a way to configure the graphics card? I'm completely unexperienced when it comes to graphics cards and don't know where to start. I don't even know how to access its settings.
When trying to install Lucid on my HP Compaq 6710b (INTEL Mobile GM965/960 graphic controller) using the alternate i386cd with an usb pen i (re-)experiencing (known from the Jaunty installation) the following problem:Boot from USB (works) Select language (works) Choose to install ubuntu (works) Removing quit from the boot options, hit enter, see some output (works) Starting the installation interface (fail) The screen wents to black, but system seems not froozen. What i've tried to fix this issue:fb=false as bootoption (worked in jaunty, does not work with lucid) frambuffer=false
fb=off debian-installer/framebuffer=false vga=123, tried all of the offered modes

Anyone managed to install Lucids with INTEL graphics + the alternate cd? PS: I need the alternate cd to setup an encrypted system. PPS: Just tested the desktop i386 image which works flawlessly.
Im having a battle for quite some time now with lastest intel driver now and wondering if someone has solution. Ive checked :[URL].. and i decided to have exact same version of everything listed in there installed on the system.
I have few questions since i manually builded xorg-server 1.8 im wondering what packages are dependent for x11 to be upgraded so everything run smoothly for xserver 1.8. are those xf86-input* and xf86-video* the only one or there are other packages that i have to get rebuilded? the second question: im wondering if im the only one for that having a problem of that lastest driver dosent work for me, for the purpose i rebuilded the driver and libdrm 2.4.20 with kms enabled once i installed xorg-xserver 1.8.0

When I installed fedora 11 the other day using the live CD it installed the i586 kernel and not the i686, despite the fact that smolt seems to know that that the hardware is i686 (well, actually it's x86, but I'm not going to argue because I forgot to get that one...). Why would it install the i586 one though? (uname -r 2.6.29.6-213.fc11.i586) But more importantly, are there any specific issues which this version can cause that I should be aware of? I can't really be bothered to change it at the moment if there is no real issue with it but I'm not too sure what difference it makes? Is it slower? It seems to know that I have a quad-core processor and seems to use them fine.
I've been searching for an hour or so and can't seem to find a concrete answer. My endgame is having Ubuntu successfully installed (either 9.10 or 10.04) with a fully working Ati 4870x2. I desperately need some help on finding the proper configuration of OS version and driver version. I installed 10.04 with the 10.3 driver package from ATI's site and it was a no go - I had nothing but problems.
I would like to have full 3d acceleration so I can play some games through Wine. This is a powerful card - I know ATI doesn't have a great reputation in the Linux world but I really hope there is a driver version I can install to get some good results.The rest of my specs are in my signature I need to install 64 bit Ubuntu to make use all of the system and video ram.
Running Squeeze, with kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64. I do not find out how to enable 3d acceleration with my Intel 945 embedded graphics card. Also having very (i mean VERY) slow scrolling in some webpages (such as apple website, or danielestulin.com website). I tested the following "Hardware Acceleration Stress Test" with Epiphany, Iceweasel and Firefox, and the best rate I get is only 3 fps...[URL].. I tested the Chess game included with default Squeeze install, running in 3d mode, and definetely there is no acceleration at all...

I'm trying to get full 3D acceleration working with an Intel 82865G Integrated Graphics chipset on my Arch install. I'm wondering if it's possible to get it to work with xf86-video-intel, as I can't seem to get the Intel-provided drivers to compile. As also stated, I have to xorg.conf to speak of, so I can't exactly go in and simple edit lines, unless I wrote it from scratch, which I'd really rather not do, LOL. I've tried Google (including their special Linux search mode), and LQ Search, and I can't seem to find information that's relevant enough to me that I can use. I mucked my system up while trying to install proprietary nvidia drivers -- I was careless and installed the wrong ones (should have used legacy drivers). Now my system hangs on "starting udev" during boot.I have tried many combinations of boot options in an effort to blacklist the problematic driver. Attached is a picture of my boot screen after specifying the options "single init 3 modprobedebug", and removing the options "rgbh quiet". For some reason I am having a lot of trouble blacklisting the correct module, or maybe I caused a kernel problem, which in that case is beyond me.Also, boot option syntax question: can I specify something like "rdblacklist=*nvidia*" using wildcards?

I have a AGP Radeon HD3650 RV635. I've tried using the ATI Catalyst 9.12 drivers, and they work ok with 2D/3D DECCELERATION. 3D works but it's extremely slow, maximizing a window takes 10secs, videos skip when played in fullscreen. Disabling Compiz doesn't help much, in 2D mode, windows redraw slowly.
I'm trying to install the open radeonhd drivers, and so far, it's booting into gnome, but it's barely usable. There is no 2D acceleration (log says ShadowFB only) and glxinfo reports:

I installed Suse 11.4 and have a couple of questions.
I installed the newest Nvidea driver for linux but when I look under system info it sais 3D driver: swrast (No 3D Acceleration) (7.10)) How can I turn this on?
Also under CPU info the speed switches between 800MHz, 1400MHz and the normal 2.6Ghz (x4 for the Quad Core). Is something wrong or does it shows how much the system is using current?
Lastly my pc shows the following:

Since I see x86_64 how do I know if I installed the x64 version which I downloaded?
I have a nvidia Geforce 8500 on my 10.04 system - the driver I'm using is: NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version current) [Recommended]. When I look at System/Preferences/Monitors I am asked if I want to use the vendor's graphics tool and up pops the NVIDIA X Server Settings window. How do I enable 3D acceleration?
