I have been having problems with a lot of my emails being marked as spam or flat out being rejected. After doing some research, it looks like they are being denied due to my HELO and EHLO replies. Here is an example of my header file:

I want to read my emails locally using Evolution & Thunderbird or some other mail client. I have bought a new domain and would want incoming emails sent to this domain ids to be scanned by a virus scanner & spam filter.I have read that MailScanner + SpamAssasin is a good combination/option. Are there any others for my requirement.I am not a Linux/Ubuntu expert - so a detailed step by step tutorial to set this up is what i am looking for.I am using Ubuntu 10.04 home user.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was some kind of anti-spam proxy available for debian, that could serve as a layer between my ISP's mailserver and my email client. Something light, as it needs to be installed to a guruplug server with not much storage available. It would be great if I don't need to configure a fully fledged mail server but if it can function on it's own, only filtering spam messages. I already found assp and qpsmtp, but I find these very difficult to setup and assp is like huge.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince we switched our server to Squeeze, I'm receiving emails from the cron about a mysql error (...can't use locks with log tables). But this is not the issue I want to talk about here. The issue is that since the executed command is: /usr/bin/mysqlcheck -uroot -pmypassword --all-databases --check-only-changed --silent which is a command that was automatically added to the cron by the mysql package (I believe), the password is sent in clear text in the email's subject. In my sense, this is a serious security issue (sending root password in email subject...)
I don't know at what level it should be corrected, but it seems to me like it should be corrected in the Debian distrib, shouldn't it ?
And for now, how can I hide the password in the emails I receive ?

I am using CentOS 5.3. I was half way through that and got an email that had ***SPAM*** in the subject. Haven't received any more. First of all I want to know if spam will still get delivered, and just have a modified subject. Second, I want to know how to set it up so Spam goes to a user's spam mailbox (Virtual Users). And third of all, is it possible to disable spam filtering on a user basis, preferably using MySQL tables? Is it possible for users to mark a message as spam, and all further messages sent from that address will be sent to spam folder but only for that user?
EDIT: Yes spam is getting delivered with a modified header, on the server site, how can i deliver to spam folder? how to create IMAP virtual mailboxes on request without having to send an email to them first? Using virtual users with Courier Imap
I'm using an old computer with Lenny for a few weeks. After updating OpenOffice last night from backports to 3.2 and doing an update this morning, there is a long list of packages and libraries in the auto removable section of Synaptic that I suspect or am absolutelt certain that I don't want to remove (Rhytmbox, for example).

Postfix with mysql backend
Dovecot
clamav
spamassassin
amavisd
And it all works great. However I would like it for amavisd to forward all the marked spam into a folder on each user account, but I cannot figure this out.
This is kind of a double question thread and I'm hoping they can be resolved together. I'm running Debian wheezy and I modified my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include "contrib non-free" on the ends so I could install flashplugin-nonfree for Chromium. After an apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree, I notice the error of:
ERROR: sha512sum rejected install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz
I tried to go to a video streaming site and I get the typical message saying I have a missing plugin. So I uninstalled flashplugin-nonfree and tried to go another route of getting the flashplayer-mozilla package from "http://www.debian-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free" hoping that might work. I installed their GPG key from here and did the apt-get update and apt-get install flashplayer-mozilla. I noticed that it would pull in tons of dependencies requiring about 250MB. I backed out of that and removed those lines from my sources.list file, trying to go the original route again. Now I'm stuck with that GPG key installed and I don't use that repository.
So my question is, how can I get flashplugin-nonfree working with Chromium, and how can I remove the key I installed from the .deb package from debian-multimedia.org?

Nor lock exists. The password is correct. $ ssh user@guest_IP xterm I can connect the guest.
Suddenly Debian started rejecting my user pw and I have to login as root. Perhaps this is a coincidence, but this started when I re-booted after adding Russian keyboard layout in etc/default/keyboard. The Russian keyboard added successfully.
Being logged in as root, renewed the pw of my user account (actually assigned the same as wes previously), got confirmation the the pw has been changed. Reloaded. Yet it keeps complaining that the pw is wrong.
I installed Jessie with Cinnamon alongside Win 7 - all went quite well though I did have to do a bit of guessing along the way.
Following online tutorials etc, I tried to install sudo from the terminal. It did not go well - some stuff appeared that was not shown in the instructions from many sites. So I abandoned it, or so I thought.
Then I discovered that my root password was no longer recognised. So I reset it, following online instructions.
This was successful apparently, as I can log in as root and see this in the terminal.
But on trying to start Synaptic ( and later others), I found that the new root password would is not authenticated, but my user password does authenticate successfully. This seems to be the wrong way round!
I use Debian Jessie with Gnome.
I have installed Timeshift. Administrative password is requested when I click Timeshift icon in Gnome menu. I enter the password (or paste it to be sure) but it always returns with "incorrect password, please try agian" message. I am sure that I type my password correctly.
I looked at the icon's properties. It runs "timeshift-launcher". I changed it as "gksudo timeshift" or "sudo timeshift" or "gksu timeshift", enabled "Launch in terminal", disabled, but nothing changed. Always same password request window appears and it rejects my password.
However when I run "sudo timeshift" or "gksudo timeshift" command in Terminal it accepts my password and runs.
When I run for example Synaptics via Gnome Menu, password request window is with black background and it accepts my password. However when I run Timeshift, password request window is with gray background and it rejects.
Root password was not defined in my system during installation and I am the only user. I run administrative commands via sudo without any problem.
Tried to update nonfree flashplugin on my Debian laptop, a Toshiba Satellite A100-VA3 today:
update-flashplugin-nonfree --install
This is the result:

I use Debian Jessie + KMail on desktop side. My mail server has Spamassassin installed. My problem is that I receive some spam and it goes though the server-side filtering.
I mark all messages as SPAM in KMail but neither KMail or the server learn that those are spam and should not enter the inbox.
How to get rid of the messages? Unsubscribing is not an option - I don't want to click on any link contained in the mails.
After installing postfix on my server , all emails sent by a PHP class that i built , are received to spam folder , no matter what i do .am not an expert , except in PHP , the class i built works fine everywhere else except on this server , so i think the problem might be from the server it self ?some told me wrong configuration/software on my server , others told me wrong DNS stuff . actually i don't understand the DNS stuff , and am not an expert in linux softwares and services but i cann install/configure them , so could anyone please check the DNS for problems ?

I have a server with a domain running and im trying to resolve the mail server but i can't see where to start. I use OpenSuse 11.2. Basically, for starting, i want postfix to send incoming emails to a php script or perl. for outgoing emails i guess that i could use php mail function and i will see what else to have. I configured the dns. I do a dig.mydomain.tld MX and i get the following:

So now my system is receiving MX content but i dont know what to do.
How to refresh and reload the list of email into MUTT ? Which key?
Additional: how to go to folder SENT of gmail ? and configureation eventually?
I tried moving firestarter boot script around, calling firestarter in /etc/rc.local and in gnome-sessions (start programs) and so forth. Alas, only way to get it started is from root terminal with # firestarter --start-hidden & i use wicd, wlan0 and a router. Network monitor and iptables are installed.

And suddenly out of the blue the emails from the internet are not being received. Emails being sent internally are being received and everyone can browse the internet.Host or domain name not found. Because "gpg: skipped "67449612": No secret key gpg: signing failed: No secret key", you may need to select different mail options.
I have "Preferences > Mail Accounts > Edit > Security > OpenPGP key ID " set as 67449612, which is my subkey for signing, and this configuration has worked properly until two days ago when I upgraded a bunch of packages with evolution and gnupg among them. Since I am not sure this is really a bug or what package would it belongs to I am asking here first before submitting any bug.
I believe signing works and the secret subkey is "find-able" because I am actually able to do the following without any errors, and this is why I don't understand the error given by Evolution:

Well, I don't mind the new Ambiance look, but my window manager tool bars have reverted to "Old Win 32". They have gone flat and gray. The window bars still look rounded and dark. After I first log in, the window manager looks fine, and then it flips Flat and Light Gray. I've logged in using the "Ubuntu Classic" setting. Someday I'll learn "Unity", but I'm trying to get some work done. I'm running this system in a virtualbox. Irrelevant, right?

View 3 Replies View Relatedsetting up a headless torrent server for the flat. The webui works great on transmission except I want to schedule it to pause during daylight hours. Essentially I only want it to be downloading between the hours of 2am and 8am.
Currently I cannot get it to pause. Only throttle the speed. Setting the speeds to zero appears to set it to unlimited speed. And we don't really want it running 1 kb/s constantly (lowest possible setting) during the day.
Server is running 8.04 LTS using Transmission 1.83. Currently I have the Gnome desktop installed and using remote desktop viewer to set some things up via a gui. CLI is faster... if you know what you're doing, which I don't really, so I like to fiddle. I did think about using Crontabs to kill the process at 8am and start it at 2am, however this is pointless as we'd like to be able to setup torrents via the webui during the day.
I've tried running Cheese over SSH to get a view of my flat but it's very jumpy.My upload speed at home isn't the best in the world, and Cheese seems to struggle. Does anyone know of any software that will allow me to view the cam, specifying low quality settings etc to at least get a steady picture.I know it wont be amazing, but Cheese is crashing. I tried Camorama, but it didn't pick up my webcam.

my cmos battery is dead , not worrying that much about it but the problem is ubuntu , it has trouble booting thanks to fsck , there is a bug herebut i cant boot , i get the following error # Superblock last mount time is in the futureand i cant boot , i can get it working sometimes , with allot of work , but normaly it just fails !i came to the conclusion that the CMOS time and date keeps reseting and so ubuntu thinks that the last time i booted was in the future (if this makes any sense) and fsck freaks
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't get the Ubuntu 10.4 Live CD for PPC to work on my old 800 MHz flat screen iMac G4. I believe it's supposed to work, but the installation dies with a magenta screen about a minute after selection of any boot option in the yaboot dialog.I tried all the sensible boot choices and options, all with the same result: some trundling of the CD reader, display of the messages related to the ramdisk, more trundling, then a blank magenta screen and no more trundling. The iMac becomes totally unresponsive: no more messages, can't enter any command shell. I get the impression (complicated story) that it begins to install the X server and then aborts.
This iMac has a PPC G4, 512 MB of working memory, and a GeForce2 MX video card with an nVIDIA chipset and 32 MB of video memory. There seems to be no hardware problem: OS-X 10.3 and OS-9 run just fine including wireless networking.
