I just installed Fedora 11 on an AMD CPU PC. I get the following error during boot up.Aug 22 21:42:07 dragon8 kernel: aic7xxx: probe of 0000:00:0a.0 failed with error -38 Because the aic7xxx has the error, it does not load the st module. I manually loaded the st module, but the /dev/st? devices do not get created, I assume because of the aix7xxx error.I can access the Adaptec AHA-2940W Bios during boot up and see the 2 tape drives that are connected to it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a clean install of mythbuntu 10.10 and I am trying to get a DVB-T USB stick working for the last 2 weeks. Its a MobiDTV and it seems to have the same chipset/USB ID as EzCap_DVB_T_Stick. I followed the instructions on the [URL] and eventually got the driver compiled (I had to amend some code, change "Bool" pointers to "bool" and add a FIRMWARE MAX_NAME 30 constant). I also copied the af9035 FW file to the firmware directory.

I bought the hardware with Windows 7 MCE in mind. I have no Windows 7 disk so I installed Mythbuntu on it to see if build was solid and now I don't want Windows any more.

I receive the same result with the original e1000e driver from the distribution, the latest elrepo driver and the latest driver from Intel site (as seen in the example). I have tried also 2.6.37 kernel version - with the same result. The adapter however works fine under Windows (MiniXP from Hiren's BootCD) and with Ubuntu 10.10 LiveCD.

I am having trouble upgrading from old grub to grub-pc. I have a clean install of 9.10 on a system with a new ASUS motherboard with Nvidia RAID configured as RAID 0.Although I read the page on SATA pseudo-RAID, this doesn't seem to apply, as both 9.10 and Windows XP installed cleanly without any additional drivers required.I did notice that contrary to the documentation, 9.10 installed with grub v0.97, not the new one as claimed. It is working fine, but just to be ornery, I'm trying to upgrade to the new one, and this is where I ran into trouble.Whenever I try to run grub-upgrade, I get an error from grub-probe that 'no mapping exists for' my raid partition. Apparently grub-probe can deal with the device, but not with the fs_uuid, as follows:

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I use mplayer (i.e. play a movie with it) the system will sporadically freeze completely, for around 13 seconds. Everything halts as if the system is having a kernel panic or worse -- even the clock halts. Around 13 seconds pass, everything returns to normal (the clock then jumps 13 seconds ahead, as well), and from the kernel pool log (dmesg) I observe this:

I have tried to update the graphics drivers to the latest version, to no avail. I also have no idea how this issue started in the first place. I use Slackware 13.1.0 on a fast x86 (4.1 GHz Core i7, 6 GiB RAM, SSD, GTX480, etc.). There are no other known issues with the system. I don't use any sort of package managers or automatic updates. This issue happens regardless of whether the media played is physically local on the computer, or if it is on a network.
I've just made the switch from Ubuntu to Debian Squeeze and am having trouble connecting external media (be it a USB stick or an ext HD). The error I am getting when I connect anything via usb is the following:

I have installed a fresh copy of FC14 and when I logged in locally for the first time I was getting the error messages below. Now these same messages are filling up my messages log and it's running non stop in the background. Has anyone seen anything on this error? I have searched through Google looking for help and I'm not finding much.
This box is a simple file/web server with no monitor hooked up and no GUI. I have also included the lspci ouput below if that might help. Really looking for any suggestions or input on how I might stop the error reporting since is filling up my log files quickly.

Hi, I usually use Debian which doesn't have this bug, so I hope Ubuntu users will not if this could be fixed.

So problem is no matter what device I connect to USB, after some time in dmesg errors are generated which bring load of one core to 100%. These errors are generated in dmesg:

This happens in 2 pcs, and errors seem to be the same,One has 11.4 + gnome 2, standar installation (with gnome) from 11.4 DVD. The error i get whenever i run something like zypper install xxxyyy.rpm or zypper update is:

I dont know if its related, but the one with gnome 3 constantly gives me (what i think is) a kernel panic when i shut down the system, it happens fast and the text on the screen is not "linear" but spread all over the screen, so i cant read the whole message, but it does say something about glib and corruption.This is actually the first time(s) ibe seen a kernel panic ever since i used ubuntu.
