CentOS 5 :: Yum Not Able To Install Nagios-plugins While Net-snmp-perl.i386 Is Already Installed
Mar 19, 2009
I am having issues installing nagios-plugins using yum. Been using Suse don't have much experience with CentOS (CentOS release 5.2 (Final), ) Linux hoster 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5 #1 SMP Tue Dec 16 12:03:43 EST 2008 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux It says
"Error: Missing Dependency: perl(Net::SNMP) is needed by package nagios-plugins"
Whereas net-snmp-perl.i386 is already installed.
yum deplist nagios-plugins
Loading "fastestmirror" plugin
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
In a nutshell, my situation is that I need snmpgetnext. My understanding is that this should be installed with net-snmp (net-snmp.x86_64 specifically); this is not occuring. I cannot use it as a command, and I have tried quite a few searches (whereis, find / -iname "snmpgetnext", "snmpget*" | grep next, "*next*" | grep snmp, and a host of similar oddities). Can I find snmpgetnext in a yum repository, preferably an official one?
More specifically, I'm using a software package that requires CentOS with kernel 2.6.18-53.somethingorother. This is a separate issue that has been brought up with the vendor. Generally this just means I install CentOS 5.1 and don't do a full upgrade. we are monitoring with Nagios. The Nagios check_snmp plugin won't compile without a valid path to snmpgetnext, which I can't get to install. This is severly hampering my ability to monitor the server.
I keep getting a notice that "Updates Available" for the package syslinux-3.86-3.i386 updates syslinux-3.11-4.i386. But when I try to do that I am met with a dependency for perl-Crypt-PasswdMD5-1.3-1.2.1 which is followed by the error: Public key for syslinux-3.86-3.i386.rpm is not installed
i need to install nagios-plugins 64 bit, when i tried to install via yum i got this error yum install nagios-plugins.x86_64 yum error Unsatisfied dependency i hv installed openssl 32 bit but it needs openssl 64 bit, even php and perl. i tried to to install via yum yum install openssl.x84_64 but its not getting installed i tried to uninstall openssl but its shows so many packages to remove
When I installed CentOS on a 64 bit machine, I selected the 64 bit option. However, for some reason it installed many i386 packages - these were exact duplicates of installed x86_64 packages. Is this typical? How do I prevent this on future installs? If I left them installed, could this have caused a problem in the future? Due to my fastidious nature, I used yum extender to uncheck every duplicate i386 package and uninstalled them. This took some time. I am still not proficient with yum directly so I am wondering if there is a command to uninstall all i386 packages quickly.
I have recently set up nagios on a ubuntu server (9.10), and set it up to monitor all the servers, switches etc, following the quickstart guide provided on the nagios website. My problem is this:I have setup the nagios-plugins, and tried to set it up to monitor the network switches via SNMP but receive the following within the nagios web interface:SNMP problem - No data received from host I tried it from the command line, and got the exact same error. Is there some further configuration I need to do to be able to get this data?I've used up all my google-fu, and read over everyone else's problems on every forum I could find, but to no avail.
I just installed nagios to a Cent 5.4 box. Everything is working so far except I want to add a plugin I found on nagios exchange. The file has a .pl extension. I am unsure how to add the plugin to the rest of nagios. Do I need to add it to a nagios folder and then define it. If I just try to run the pl file I get a error mesg. I am unsure if the error is caused by system misconfig or because the plugin is not installed. The plugin is check_dayime.pl and the error I get is Can't locate Date/Parse.pm Perl seems to be working as I can run simple perl scripts and perl -v spits out v 5.8.8
I had just downloaded and installed Ubuntu. I had to manually install the Software Center. So I did that and installed a bunch of things including OpenJDK and its browser plugins. OpenJDK caused trouble in a game I play, so I installed Sun instead. However, that's the old version. I followed the above instructions, removed the old verisons and attempted to install the plugins. But unless I use the Software Center, it doesn't work. I'm cutting and pasting exactly and nothing shows up in my aboutlugin screen.
i was told by some members to use svn to view nagios plugins source code. i'm currently use nagios checker, i want to view the source code behind it, i want to see how the codes behind the nagios checker work.

i've installed subversion using sudo apt-get install subversion, after that followed by this command: svn co [URL] subversion but when i issued the second command i got this:
Code:
... Setting up subversion (1.6.5dfsg-1ubuntu1) ... Processing triggers for libc-bin ... ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
I'm trying to up2date an RHEL4 ES (i386/i686, 32-bit) system. It always fails with:
Quote:
The thing is, when I look in the package lists, that precise version of nagios (nagios-0-2.12-9.el4.i386.hdr) is out-of-date. The version actually in the repositories (I checked several mirrors) is nagios-0-2.12-10.el4.i386.hdr.
I tried clearing the up2date/yum caches - they just rebuilt and came back to the same error.
What can I check to see what may be outdated, or otherwise reconcile this mismatch in some dependency as compared to the actual package version available?
This is preventing me from up2date'ing any package at all on the server, even those with no relation whatsoever to nagios.
I installed java applet for Firefox. It seems that I get the same message all the time "Install missing plugins". The path libjavaplugin_oji.so is located at:
I have a problem when install Cenos5.5-i386-dvd.iso on VMware6.5. My host os is Windows2003 sp1 and I installed Centos via VMware on host windows2003. After powering on VM, it loaded the ISO file but showed me an error like that " Could not fine kernel image : linux " then boot process failed.
I want to monitor network bandwidth/usage/stats on an interface dedicated to iSCSI traffic.I've read nagios is one of the better solutions available, and I've found a How-To here: Installing Nagios on CentOS 4.x/5.x.But it seems yum won't install it. Am I missing something? Is it no longer possible to install nagios with yum? Should I use a different mirror?
It seems I have some problem with glibc i686 on my VIA CPU. How can I force to install glibc i386.rpm instead of i686 in the clean installation process?

I am trying to install koha on centos 5.5. The manual tells me to install perl dependencies from companion CD. copy the usr_local.tar.gz to hard drive. But there are seven cd for centos. Which one is the right one for perl dependencies?
I have newly updated CentOS 5.6 server and would like to keep it "true" to CentOS, so try to avoid manually installing rpm's and CPAN modules. I need to install perl graphing modules, Chart::Base, GD, GD::Graph, GD::Text, etc. Have already done Yum install gd gd-devel php-gd

I was having trouble getting my 8.10 box to restart... it appeared hung on a line talking about alsa (I don't recall what it said). I started back up and the volume icon indicated it was muted. I unmuted and, lo and behold, I have no sound. So, I tried to follow the alsa upgrade instructions at [URL].
When I tried to run the second script: Code: sudo sh ./alsa_2.sh
I got this: cp: target `/lib/modules/2.6.2*/ubuntu/media/snd-hda-intel/snd-hda-intel.ko' is not a directory cp: cannot stat `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver*/modules/*': No such file or directory cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.24-16-generic/kernel/sound/' cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.27-14-generic/kernel/sound/' cp: omitting directory `/lib/modules/2.6.27-15-generic/kernel/sound/'
And now my volume indicates it's muted again, and if I try to adjust it I get this error: The volume control did not find any elements and/or devices to control. This means either that you don't have the right GStreamer plugins installed, or that you don't have a sound card configured. You can remove the volume control from the panel by right-clicking the speaker icon on the panel and selecting "Remove From Panel" from the menu.
I used the "sudo apt-get" command to install kile editor today. When the installation is finished I opened kile from the terminal and checked that it is working fine. But once I open kile, the following message appears:
[Code]....
I am worried if everything got installed properly. Also, Application>Office> is not listing kile. Therefore, I suspect that there has been some problem
