So I switched to linux entirely and I was searching for a ODIN tool for android devices and found "Heimdall" [URL]
its a superior alternative but currently the deb package doesnt have its dependencies satisfied.
Question: How do you install a deb package without dependencies Is it worth force installing it without dependencies and just wait till the developer creates them?
While i am using yum update am getting an error: Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.0()(64bit) is needed by package rhythmbox-0.11.6-4.el5.x86_64 (installed).
I got the same error while installing (even though install works fine!) during installation and after it. Its Critical temperature reached, 3564 C, shutting down. Celcium value is not made up, its actually among those lines (four-digit).
I had another problem with installation, but I managed to install using nomodeset setting. My pc is a rock laptop (which is actually supposed to work well with vista instead.. oh wel..).
Any suggestions? I have tried installing with acpi=off, but it doesnt make any difference during installation or after it..
Also another error I got during some of my tests was: "init: Failed to spawn rc-sysinit main proccess: unable to open console: input error
I've scanned a document with OmniPage on a Windows PC; I've saved the images as black and white png and I can open them on Windows, but on Ubuntu Eye of GNOME gives me (for one image only) the critical error PNG: Decompression Error and doesn't open it, while Mirage, GIMP, GQview and F-Spot show an empty image. The output of a pngcheck -vtf follows:

I just installed nagios to a Cent 5.4 box. Everything is working so far except I want to add a plugin I found on nagios exchange. The file has a .pl extension. I am unsure how to add the plugin to the rest of nagios. Do I need to add it to a nagios folder and then define it. If I just try to run the pl file I get a error mesg. I am unsure if the error is caused by system misconfig or because the plugin is not installed. The plugin is check_dayime.pl and the error I get is Can't locate Date/Parse.pm Perl seems to be working as I can run simple perl scripts and perl -v spits out v 5.8.8

I am very new to Linux and I have been dealling with my problem for the past 9 days. I have installed Debian to my hard drive from a DSL disk. It seems like it is an old distripution (kernal is Linux 2.4.26 on i686). I saw that there was an old version of Firefox that desparately needs to be upgradeed. I tried to install the latest version with out any luck. It was the same situation when I tried to the install Flash Player plugin. I then tried to upgrade the distribution by doing the following:

This scared me a bit so I searched the internet for a solution where I found people had the same problem I have, but the solutions given, which worked for them, did not work for me. I also tried using the dpkg and aptitude methods of installation.
I have Ubuntu Jaunty & Linux Multimedia Studio 0.4.2. In attempt to update to LMMS 0.4.5, I downloaded & attempted to install : lmms_0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty_i386.deb and got the following error message : Error : Dependency is not satisfiable : lmms-common (=0.4.5~ppa-1jaunty). What went wrong and is there an easier way to update ? Also, should I remove the older version or just install the latest on top of it ?

I get following error during automatic patch upgrade of my SuSE 11.2 to latest path revision. I assume it is due to the KDE 4.3.5 Update part of the patch set: compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 requires libkdecorations.so.4()(64 bit) but there are no providers. The package manager suggest to replace compiz-kde4-0.7.8-9.14.x86_64 with kwin-4.3.5-0.2.1.x86_64 but I don't want to loose compiz-kde. which repository I must add to resolve the dependency.
I cant install vlc player or other media players in my fedora 11 .Every time it shows the dependency errors. Any media player get from the fedora yum server.
I want to install php-soap on centos 5.2 server. When i run the command, yum install php-soap, i get the error:
php-soap-5.1.6-24.el5_4.5.i386 from updates has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: php-common = 5.1.6-24.el5_4.5 is needed by package php-soap-5.1.6-24.el5_4.5.i386 (updates) Error: Missing Dependency: php-common = 5.1.6-24.el5_4.5 is needed by package php-soap-5.1.6-24.el5_4.5.i386 (updates) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: package-cleanup --problems package-cleanup --dupes rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest The php common file is not actually missing, its there with the exact name. The problem seems to be that the php-common file is installed from some other repository, thats y it is creating dependency problem. The only solution i found is to remove the current php-common file and install it again, but then lot of programs get uninstalled with it, which is y am afraid of doing that, since its a vps, and some 10 sites are working on that.
