View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have been trying to install these drivers forever and after going through a million forum posts and Google searches I have been unsuccessful. The process I have been trying starts as such: I hit ctrl-alt-f1 and then login as root. i then change to run level 3 by doing /sbin/init 3. After that's done I cd to desktop and do sh NVIDIA-LINUX-x86-185.18.29-pkg1.run --kernel-source-path /usr/src/kernel/2.6.18-128.2.1.el15-i686
If I don't give it the source path it can't find the source tree. Eventually I get the error: ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This happens most frequently when this kernel module was built against the wrong or improperly configured kernel sources, with a version of gcc that differs from the one used to build the target kernel, or if a driver such as rivafb/nvidiafb is present and prevents the NVIDIA kernel module from

I am trying to install the Nvidia Quadro NVS 110 169.04 drivers but am having issues during install. Prior to attempting my install I did install the kernel-devel rpm so it can compile. after running the RPM I get. Quote: No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; would you like the installer to attempt to download a kernel interface for your kernel from the NVIDIA ftp site [URL]?
which of course does not work. next it says Quote: "No precompiled kernel interface was found to match your kernel; this means that the installer will need to compile a new kernel interface.. i hit okay and move on to. Quote: Error: Unable to find the kernel sources tree for the currently running kernel. Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your kernel and that they are properly configured; on Red Hat linux systems, for example be sure you have the 'kernel-source' or 'kernel-devel' RPM installed. if you know the correct kernel source files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the "--kernel-source-path' command line option

If not; are there any alternative solutions (other than Madwifi).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried a number of locations, that may have old proprietary ati drivers for the 9250 v/c (video card for any one who was wondering). currently using ubuntu 10.10, and from what I've read else where either my card is too old or my OS is too new. I have seen a few site (2 or 3) for old ati drivers, but they are for microsoft, not linux.
I went to the AMD web site down loaded and attempted to install the latest drive, but to no avail. I've used the software center provided by ubuntu, I have the latest drivers from them, unfortunately can't play any of the non-flash games, either using wine, plays on linux and cedega. From what I have read (and please correct me if I'm wrong) I need to install the old drivers provided by x.org xfree86 or ati.

I'm learning how to use this OS and am enjoying it immensely thus far, but it's not been an easy road lately with this speaker. See, my netbook has really crappy speakers so I picked up an Insignia USB Soundbar so I could get much better sound out of it. However, it won't recognize the USB and I'm assuming this means it can't download the necessary drivers in order to work. Now I've researched this and came across this forum:[URL]...
However, being as new as I am to this, I can't make heads or tails to what this means. If anyone can offer help to what this forum might be saying or how I might be able to get the speakers to work,
