CentOS 5 Server :: Skip Proxy For All Intranet Addresses?

We have one squid proxy server running on CentOS 5.3 64 bit with Squid 2.6. it works well for me.
but my problem/question is :
Is it possible to skip proxy for all Internet addresses? and only allow proxy if clients are accessing external addresses?
right now users have to explicitly say in the browsers .. BYPASS PROXY SERVER for local addresses after check the use proxy server
and address has to be mentioned. most users are non technical so they don't use this option or put wrong setting in bypass proxy option

I've got 2 computers plugged into an "ethernet broadband router" sitting behind a DSL modem. I'd like to be able to send mail from one of the 2 computers to the other, preferably without going through the DSL modem, and preferably without assigning host names (if that's possible).
I've installed/configured sendmail (and sendmail-cf and m4) and am attempting babystep tests of the configuration by sending mail to a user on the originating computer.
So I can send email to root@localhost and it is received on the local host.
But if I try to send it to root@127.0.0.1, it bounces back like so:
This seems to be pretty fundamental (the localhost has an address of 127.0.0.1). Shouldn't I be able to use the IP address in place of the associated name?

I did verify that sendmail was configured to listen in on more than just the loopback address in /etc/mail/sendmail.mc, but that doesn't seem to be relevant until I can get email through to 127.0.0.1.
Which files do I need to create/touch to get this to work?
And can it be done without talking to the DSL modem?

I'm new to Centos 5 (and Linux) and, after installing Centos, I configured Samba, Apche, ... w/o problems (through interactive interface). My problem is tha t I need to use DHCP (all our clients use dynamic IP addresses for the ease) but I don't find dhcpd ... nor the sample config file(s).
Note : the new server I intend to use is actually connected on a LAN with an 'old' DHCP server (still under W2K server), is this the reason why I can't find/activate dhcp on my new machine ???

I have set my environment variable for a proxy server as such [URL].. which works fine. wget rsync etc all use this proxy automatically. The problem is when I access other 10.x.x.x addresses on my private network all access goes through the proxy and is slow. How can I exclude 10.0.0.0 and 127.0.0.1 from the proxy server so that all applications obey this?

I've been struggling with this for a couple of days now. I'm trying to setup a reverse proxy with SSL. The config works when it's not using SSL, but as soon as I setup the virtualhost for 443, I get a ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED in my browser.
The setup is that it's a CentOS 5.6 running Apache 2.2.3. I was configuring it via this guide: [URL]
This server is acting as a reverse proxy for a Windows server running Apache. Currently, I'm just trying to get the manager page from the Windows server to go through the reverse proxy. Here's the virtual host section of my httpd.conf file on the reverse proxy:

While configuring the yum through proxy i was configures with some address(10.x.x.x). after the proxy address has been changed(172.x.x.x).according to new proxy address i made changes in all locations in my system. but when i am trying to download through command line still it is trying to connect old proxy address(10.x.x.x). finally i come to know that, still some location old proxy address(10.x.x.x).is there. how to troubleshoot this issue.(how to find the location) i was try to debug find the output below

I am attempting to use yum behind a MS Proxy. I am receiving the following error:

I'm trying to set up a server for an NPO who connects to the Internet through an internal proxy (Websense). I can't access the Internet unless through the proxy.
Since it's a server I did not install a GUI so I'm wondering how to connect the new server to said proxy server. I have the IP address, port number and username-password for the proxy server. The new server has a static IP address and is ready too go!

I am completely new to Debian . My aim is to get one of my machines to run this system as the intranet server including www server, mailing server, intranet server and LAMP at the same time on the small network. I have found some resources including how-to's how to install Debian as the normal operative OS not as the intranet server. Now, I would like to ask few questions that will be applicable not only for me but for more users and if someone could answer them .
1.What installation source shall I choose, CD/DVD/Network Install CD?

3.How to install web server, mail server, LAMP and configure them, link above describes mail server installation not configuration itself.
4.How to configure intranet on Debian to work as the server serving the Windows clients (using Samba?)

Also, if sources will be given by the users I shall try to achieve what I want and write up 'how-to' for this problem. Therefore, me and other users would benefit from that.

today i encountered centos 5.5 final server with a squid configured to block facebook from 9am to 4pm. i have tried to follow up the steps but am stack where time restriction is done and there is no proxy configuration done in the browser. the ip address of the server is being used as the default gateway.

I work for an organization with a few hundred employees. We need a very simple CMS for posting basic organizational documentation such has step-by-step instructions, as well as pdf and MS Office documents.We would prefer something that would organize content hierarchically, so we can structure the info into departments and functional areas. A MySQL or similar database is preferred, but flat file is okay as long as it does not limit content/structure too much.We would probably have about 15 to 20 content authors/editors. No workflow, authentication (except authors/editors) or secure content areas are required.
The only limitation would be that the content could only be accessed from a particular range of IPs. (I assume that would be set in Apache.)

I have been trying to set up an old pIII 700Mhz PC as a local intranet server to run some PHP code.
I have got debian installed setup ssh since it is a headless computer mounted a usb hard drive to store the web page remapped apache2 to use the /mnt/sda1/html/ folder and tested that php scripts are running
now what i can't seem to get working is the following:
ftp access to /mnt/sda1/html so I can upload files from my pc on the network and
phpmyadmin so i can easily manipulat mySQL databases.
after reading [URL] I typed in #apt-get install phpmyadmin
it downloads a bunch of stuff and says it is installing it but when i do the next step in the instructions go to
http://192.168.0.100/phpmyadmin/
I get a 404 Not Found error.

I'm trying to setup a Centos 5.6 Squid Proxy Server with Content Filtering & Antivirus Scanning Incoming HTTP Traffic from the Internet
I then proceeded to setup an configure the Proxy Server, i was able to test and confirm that Squid and Dansguardian Content Filter is working, however i dont know if Clamav is scanning HTTP traffic before it hits the client/server. Is there a way i can check if the Antivirus scanning is working.. is there some log file or real world test i can i can do to confirm that Clamav is scanning incoming traffic or even blocking potential viruses ??
Anyone who has squid proxy server with Clamav configured and its working can share there settings/setup with me and how they tested it ??

I am using Ubuntu on a Windows network.
One of the computers have apache server (working), it has 192.168.1.6 IP, and the name of the computer on the network is "servidor"
I can't access from ubuntu, if I type http://servidor or 192.168.1.6, it goes to [URL], but I can access shared folders, just the host intranet server I can't
I have vmware with windows xp, and I can access http://servidor from there, but not from Firefox in Ubuntu.

I want to setup an intranet mail server as a project. I tried to go through various forums but could not get a satisfactory model. My sceme of things is as follows:The server a virtual machine is after a router which has a built in dhcp server. Prefer to use sendmail but postfix ok client machines should be able to access the mail on evolution/thunderbird or web access using squirrelmail.Mail will not be relayed to anybody outside the intranet.

Both server (web01), in DMZ, and client (app01), intranet, are Linux OEL5.5.
A few hints follows:
1- I ssh to web01, in DMZ, from a intranet machine on my desktop, export my DISPLAY, and try to bring up xclock; nothing happens.
2- traceroute from web01 to app01 fails.
3- NFS mount from web01, nfs server, to nfs client, app01, fails.
How should my network configuration on web01 or app01 be to make this NFS mount from web01 to app01 work?Each server has 4 NICs, I've only used eth0.

I am trying to set up my squid3 proxy as a transparent proxy - right now, I have to manually configure browsers to access via proxy. I understand that I have to put some rules into Iptables and also some further directives in the squid.conf.
I have a couple of specific questions. The proxy server is running on a Ubuntu 10.04 workstation and this machine also acts as a dhcp server for the network. I have just one subnet , namely 192.168.0.1-254 There is only 1 network card. Is it much easier to put in a second network card or is it just as easy to configure the existing lan card as a dual IP?
Is it necessary to configure these 2 IP's ( whether they are via 2 lan cards or dual IP on single card ) to be on different subnets. i.e ETH0 192.168.0.1 and ETH1 192.168.1.1 or is ok to have something like ETH0 192.168.0.1 and ETH1 192.168.0.254 ( where ETH0 is the one facing the LAN and ETH1 points to the modem router / switch i.e The Internet ) Where specifically do I save the Iptables rule configuration file and what must I call it ?

I have a box at home that I've installed CentOS 5 on to. I'm new to Linux, so before connecting it up to the router I wanted to try and understand the network settings, so I connected it directly to my other PC with an RJ45 cable. From Windows 7 I can ping all known static IP addresses, but from Linux I can only ping the Linux addresses, not the Windows 7 one. Below are the TCP/IP IPv4 settings, all IPv6 settings are set to auto-assign.
Windows box (uses wireless connection for the router):
Local Ethernet Adapter
IP Address: 30.10.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
No gateway, primary/secondary DNS.
Linux box:
Three adapters:
Two onboard LAN, both configured to:
IP Address: 30.10.0.2 / 30.10.0.3
Subnet: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: 30.10.0.1
No primary/secondary DNS.
One LinkSys PCI card:
IP Address: 20.10.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (my router)
Primary/Secondary DNS: my ISPs details.
The idea was to connect the box directly to the router (with RJ45) and to be able to remote login from my main PC to this one. This box is to be my home server, which I was going to put virtual machines on to for things like my development work and such.
