I have configured the proxy server. I want to observer users's download information. What should I need to do? Shall I install squint? what is the process? How do I monitor the users?
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for some sort of a way keep track of all of my users that are logging in to my server (centos 5), what I mean is this: at our firm we outsource some of our work (programing), now all of the developing is done under our servers, what I'd like to find is a way of taking all of the users log on time and display by days/weeks/months - so I could see how much did everyone had put in. Another thing that I'm looking for is a way to monitor an ongoing session and record user activity, now I've seen ObserveIT, but it doesn't support Linux agents as of today.

View 6 Replies View Relatedgauge when the server is getting overloaded with users. At present I run the server mainly as a proxy server with about 100 users. The bandwidth at the data centre is 100Mbps connection with total bandwidth used last month = 17431.16 MB I would like to add a VPN in future but feel that this might overload the bandwidth as instead of it just being web traffic it will the entire client TCP connections. I would like to monitor this before it gets to the stage where users are complaining but not sure how to gauge whether the proxy is being overloaded. It is used mainly for video traffic.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have added apache application into redhat cluster. If the apache process failed, it will cause the service group fail over. I want to disable the application monitoring. I search throung Internet and it depends on the apache init script. If I change /etc/init.d/httpd status always return 0(success). THe service group will not fail over even apache failed.
However, I want to remain the application monitoring but stop failover. If the application like apache failed, I want Redhat cluster to try restart the application like 3 or 4 times. If restart failed, it will not failover.
I have a CentOS 5.4 nas box that I want to monitor.

After restarting the proftpd server and applying the configuration, I try downloading a file in IE browser. Sometimes, it prompts a saveas dialog, and everything was okay.
However, it occasionally prompts a login form instead of a SaveAs dialog. This makes our customers confused greatly.
So, how could I prevent browser from prompting login form when anonymous users try to download files from our ftp server?

This server is acting as a reverse proxy for a Windows server running Apache. Currently, I'm just trying to get the manager page from the Windows server to go through the reverse proxy. Here's the virtual host section of my httpd.conf file on the reverse proxy:

While configuring the yum through proxy i was configures with some address(10.x.x.x). after the proxy address has been changed(172.x.x.x).according to new proxy address i made changes in all locations in my system. but when i am trying to download through command line still it is trying to connect old proxy address(10.x.x.x). finally i come to know that, still some location old proxy address(10.x.x.x).is there. how to troubleshoot this issue.(how to find the location) i was try to debug find the output below

I am now trying to setup a VSFTP server where local users can upload files to there home directory so that Apache can serve web pages straight from the directories of system user home/accounts giving users the ability to run their own web sites which are hosted off the main server [tutorial here: [url]
So far i have been able to serve/display index.html files from the users home directory [url] but so far i cant upload files to any user home directory, every time i try to upload a file with filezilla i get this error message: 553 Could not create file. Critical file transfer error
I have searched online for similar problems like mine and so far i've tried alot of the solution but none seem to work. I'm confused, dont know where i went wrong, i put the users in a group called ftpusers and here are the permissions on the users (test, ftpuser & testftp) home directory. have a look an tell me where i went wrong :(

but my problem/question is :
Is it possible to skip proxy for all Internet addresses? and only allow proxy if clients are accessing external addresses?
right now users have to explicitly say in the browsers .. BYPASS PROXY SERVER for local addresses after check the use proxy server
and address has to be mentioned. most users are non technical so they don't use this option or put wrong setting in bypass proxy option
I'm trying to set up a server for an NPO who connects to the Internet through an internal proxy (Websense). I can't access the Internet unless through the proxy.
Since it's a server I did not install a GUI so I'm wondering how to connect the new server to said proxy server. I have the IP address, port number and username-password for the proxy server. The new server has a static IP address and is ready too go!

I have increased teh tmpDSK as it was getting full very quickly. My question is, what are these md0; md1, md2 and md3 are they harddrive partitions and as md1 is getting full will that have an impact on my sites.
